Tagliarchy Island Part 2

All this talk about celebrities gives me a good QOTD. We've probably already done this, but remember, I'm blonde (well partly) so I can't remember anything

QOTD: What celebrities have you seen in person?

I'll start:

Kevin Costner - twice as explained in my last post
Michael Jordan - golf event
Martin Sheen - Washington DC
Robin Leach - (remember Lifestyles of Rich and Famous?) in Hawaii
British Royal Family - Trooping of the Colour (Queen's b'day parade)
Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip - Baltimore Orioles game, yes, I'm serious
George and Barbara Bush - same Orioles game
Prince Edward - planting a tree in Barbados
Princess Diana and Prince Charles - Washington, DC
Fergie - at a dept store here in Raleigh autographing her china pattern
Alec Baldwin and Kim Bassinger - Ga Delegation Inaugural Ball for Bill Clinton in Washington, DC
Rita Moreno - Alaskan Cruise

And seeing a celebrity in concert doesn't count unless you saw them before/after the show. Same for professional athletes, must have seen them before/after game.

Well not to brag but on my honeymoon (ummm 1990 I believe) we were having dinner at V&A and Burt Lancaster and Sidney Poitier were sitting behind us. And yes Sidney is sexy not matter what age!

Kelly Ripa (at Poly)
Lori Laughlin (inteviewed at MGM)
Randy Travis (walking into Epcot)
Forget the actors name but he played the bad guy in Kingergarden Cop at the HDD.
Shelly Winters (autographed a book for me years ago)
Ginger Rogers at MGM but I didn't buy her book so I didn't get in line just looked from afar
Richard Simmons at the mall
Elliot Gould having lunch at the commissary at Warner Brothers in California (my former sister in law works there)
Don Johnson gave a speech at a luncheon I was at

I think that's it.

s&ksmom What a list! Burt Lancaster, Ginger Rogers, Shelly Winters and Sidney Poitier....I'm jealous....those are Hollywood Legends! Was Don Johnson as suave in person as he seems to be on TV?

billysotherdad I'm so impressed by your newfound talents! Seeing Jude Law in person....man, a dream come true. You said he was shorter in person, but is he just as handsome????

He's very handsome. I guess sexy is probably the better word. He was short, (AND NOT A BOBBLE HEAD!) but he's very good looking. And if you think you're impressed...you should have seen me...I was like a little kid...I couldn't believe I had the nerve to walk up to Spielberg, up to Kate Capshaw and then Jude Law. But I figured, what have I got to lose, right. I wasn't asking for an autograph for me, and I wasn't gushing like "Oh my God, I loved E.T.!" or "Jude, you were so awesome in A.I.!!!" (Hey, I could have used A.I. for both of them, huh!) But I figured, I can give it a try and the worst that would happen is that they wouldn't talk to me. Turned out they were all so nice and agreeable.

Hopefully, they'll send what they promise to send. Otherwise, I'll have to trash their names all over the planet! Haha

Actually cadbury'smom he seemed really nice. It was at a United Way luncheon and I can't remember exactly what he said but he mentioned his kids a few times in very glowing terms.

billysotherdad I'm sure they were only so "nice and agreeable" because you are just so gosh darn witty and attractive ::yes:: ( I was gonna say "charming" but I guess Rick holds the patent on that!) ;) :teeth:

Why yes, yes I do! And don't forget "flirt".

s&ksmom Glad to hear that about Don Johnson. I usually like him in movies but can't seem to get over his "pretty boy" stage in Miami Vice :p

Gotta run grab some lunch....later gators!:wave2:

My list...hmmm...let's see...

Johnny Depp (in front of my office building)

Sean Astin (in the elevator of my office building)

Gene Wilder (in the elevator of my office building)

Shania Twain (before her concert)

Toby Keith (before his concert)

Brad Paisley (before his show at BB Kings)

Kix Brooks (in Nashville)

Ronnie Dunn (in a casino at Atlantic City)

Dan Lauria (two days ago...he smiled at when I waved to him on the street in front of my building...he was the Dad in Wonder Years)

Alan Jackson (in Nashville)

Ed Harris (Rick, his mom and me sat next to him and Amy Madigan at the Carnegie Deli in Manhattan)

Rob Schneider (trying on Clothes in a shop in Greenwich village)

Mariah Carey (buying a sweater in a small shop on Fifth Avenue)

Gwenyth (however she spells it) Paltrow on the street of the Village

Anthony LaPalagia (in Staples...he was looking for computer books, he asked me if I new where a certain book was, and when I said it was probably a better shot in the barnes and noble next door, we walked over there together, chatting!)

Eddie Montgomery & Troy Gentry (in NYC next to FAO Shwartz)

Joan Rivers (backstage at the Carlisle)

Paul Rubens (Pee-Wee Herman) walking down Shubert Alley off Broadway

Rupert Everet (sat next to me at Tea & Sympathy, a British tea shop here in NYC...he complained about my cigarette smoke and made a giant fuss!!)

Susan Sarandon (in a restaurant, two tables away)

Tim Robbins (on line in front of me at Starbucks, a block away from where he lives)

I guess I'll stop there. I can't think of others, though I'm sure Rick can remind me, or fill in gaps. I think his list is just as long. When you live in NYC, you happen to get star sightings often. It's funny...the few times I've visited California, I only saw 2 stars, but on the streets of NY, you see people strolling around and shopping a lot. In California, I saw:

Ted Danson (he was stopped at the light beside me on Rodeo Drive in a convertible!)

Herve Villachaize (spelling, again) who played Tattoo on FANTASY ISLAND. He sat at table next to me at a bar, with three tall leggy blondes hanging all over him, laughing and drinking up a storm. He was one of the littlest people I've ever seen.

I'm the least star struck individual on the planet. I've walked by, spoken to or seen quite a few famous folks in my lifetime but I can't remember them. Most recently Mathew Broderick a couple of weeks ago.

The first time I ever met someone was Mark Hamill (aka Luke Skywalker). He was promoting Star Wars in Japan. He went to the same school I did in Yokosuka on base (his dad was in the Navy or something). He stopped by the teen club to do a meet and greet with the kids and to chat about the movie. Kind of neat. But I had to go to the bathroom and was standing, doing my business when who should walk in and do the same thing next to me. Now please, no jokes about light sabers or anything. This is a family site.

Yes, Rick is the Charming One. I'm more like...well, Dopey, if he could talk.

That's a load of hooey. Joe is definitely a charmer. He can talk to a door knob and the door know would feel like the most fascinating door knob in the world.

JoKe'S aBoUt LiGhT sAbErS. jOkEs AbOuT LiGhT sAbErS!! jOkEs AbOuT LiGhT sAbErS!!

OMG Rick and Joe are on a tear everyone watch out!!! Have a great weekend everyone see you on Monday!

ohanafamily, you're more than welcome to run the figures with me, because DVC just doesn't make sense to me. Paying $15K and then $800 every year in dues, just doesn't add up for savings.

Deadheadbelle, I didn't get a chance to catch C-Webb on Kimmel, what did he talk about? I wish he'd play in the Olympics this year, Mike Bibby as well.

Cheeringmom, couldn't have asked for anything much closer! It looked like all the rooms were extremely convenient, everything closely tied together. I did feel the water view rooms weren't really worth the extra money though. Often times your view is obstructed by a tree, or other piece of landscape. And, they are the furthest away from everything.

Here are a few more pictures from the trip...
