Um...ohanafamily...that better mean you think I'm a looker!

Have to admit, though I've heard of Donna Reed and know she did television, etc. I'm too young to remember her and will have to look her up to see her visage....

Here's a pic of me & NP at a Subway station in NYC. She looks nice there, huh?...don't be deceived, she is EVIL:

I have a wedding story for ya!

My older brother was getting married and the wedding was in a teeny tiny hick town called Jamestown, ND. He called me and said, "My friend is the best man and John (our little brother) is the groomsman. I don't have a spot for you in the wedding party so I don't know what to do with you. How about if you bartend?"

I was a bit taken aback and usually pretty quick on the uptake but this had me floored. I stammered and agreed. Quick talk and then hung up.

Joe had been listening in and immediately started in. "He wants you to BARTEND? At his wedding? You're BROTHER? Tell him to HIRE his OWN friggin' bartender!!! What's wrong with him? You're his BROTHER! He's getting married and he wants you to WORK?!!!" and on and on and on....

It didn't occur to me to be angry or insulted. But Joe was pretty pissed. So I thought and thought and thought some more. And I realized what my bro had asked me was indeed pretty insulting. So I called him back and said, "Y'know, I was thinking about what you asked me and I'd really rather not have to work at my own brother's wedding. I'll just be a guest if it's all the same to you."

And then he changed his mind and told me he wants me to be an usher with his fiancee's brother. I thought the only guys in the wedding party were his best friend and our younger brother? But I wasn't to bother getting a tux or anything. Thought it was weird but I didn't argue.

Anyway, I get to Jamestown for the big day. At the wedding, ALL the guys but me are in tuxes. I had on a nice suit but was the odd man out. Very embarassing. Then when I was told my usher duties, my older brother told me that the rest of the wedding party would be sitting up front but I had to sit in the back of the church (about twenty rows behind the last guest) and seat any late comers.

Mind you, I was never in a wedding party so I didn't know what was expected of me. Thought all this was normal.

So I sat by myself during the ceremony. Not even with my parents. Not even with strangers!!!

It gets better! I was told I had to toll the bells at the end of the service up in the bell tower. So I didn't see my brother walk down the aisle. I didn't meet any of the bride's family. I was up in the tower by myself.

Then I was told I had to collect all the flowers and left over programs and load them into a pick up that was left behind. The wedding party, in the meantime, loaded into the limo and went off for photos and then the reception.

And I did what I was told. Loaded everything up, thinking that someone would be coming back. An hour passed and no one showed. Couple things you should note: I'm a New Yorker and don't own a car, hence, I don't drive. Even if I did drive, I didn't have the keys to the truck. And I didn't know how to get to the reception, no one told me where it was.

Now, mind you, I'm a big mouth but didn't say a peep. It was their day. Not mine. Had to keep repeating this.

Finally, the janitor or super came out of the church and saw me leaning against the hood of the truck. He asked me why I was still there so I told him. And he tried to make light of the situation and gave me a lift to the reception.

Anyway, it gets even better. I get to the reception and grab something to drink. As I round the corner, I see my family, the bride's family, all posing for a picture. FLASH! Thank you! It was the family photo and I was forgotten!

Then I overhear that the priest is now saying grace with the bride, groom and the immediate family before dinner was served (I missed the appetizers, etc...). So I ran to where this was happening only to hear a group wide, "Amen..." Missed it! No one thought to get me even if I was immediate family!

So I ask you, anyone on the Tag think maybe my brother and I aren't particularly close???

How does one get this? I'd like some of that please.<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/7/7_12_3.gif' border=0></a> Your wedding portrait is to die for! Beautiful!

llebrekniT Well, it's a special program for FL residents, so you gotta move there!! Can't believe how cheap it is, really. First year was $75 (would have been $70 but we didn't have our AP's yet.....) and renewals are only $65. Each card good for up to 6 diners, but I got one and you get a complimentary one for your spouse, so if we're both there, we can get 20% off the bill for 12 people! We used this A LOT at Christmas with our family reunion of 20!! Saved the cost of the card on one meal alone.....and it's good for a whole year! Let me tell you, Disney will be losing money hand over fist when we move down next year....

Thanks for the compliments on the wedding photo....it really is one of the few I like of me....and came out exactly how I wanted....it's pretty good in color, too...but I prefer the black and white for formal pics!

Daniel is TOO cute!! Just gotta love a boy in a tux....at any age ::yes::

Okay, after all the reviews of Shrek 2 I've seen today I really want to see that movie soon. But where's the time??? :( I guess I'll have to wait until we get back from WDW. Oh and then another couple weeks because I'll be leaving town again a few days later to see my sister in CA. And the day after I get back from there I'm spending 3 days at a scrapbooking convention - taking classes and going to late crops. Wahhhhhh, I may have to wait for it to come out on DVD before I get to see it.
Alright now! No whining about that fabulous travel schedule or I'll make you swap lives with me for the summer!! :teeth: You can ALWAYS get a sitter (not...I had to reserve 7 weeks ahead to get the one for Friday night  ) so you can go see whatever movie you like! (Can you sense the jealousy? I've only been to maybe 3 movies in the last 3.5 years!!!)

Do you mind if I share a few more of my wedding pics? Of course you don't so here they are.

<IMG height=450 src=http://www.Bachosaurus.com/images/OurWedding/changing_in_strangers_backyard.jpg>
Here I am changing into my wedding dress in someone's backyard for portraits in the park across the street. The photographer said it was an empty house, being sold or something. Well guess what, it wasn't. Thankfully no one was home so no police calls for trespassing or anything.

<IMG width=450 src=http://www.Bachosaurus.com/images/OurWedding/DNhelpingJim.jpg>
This is my niece "helping" the photographer. She had a great time helping me move around the park and get all set up. (Somewhere I have a few pics of her with me.)

<IMG height=400 src=http://www.Bachosaurus.com/images/OurWedding/portrait2.jpg> Showing off my wedding shoes in all their purple glory. I got lots of grief over them, so much in fact that I went out and bought white ones to get people off my back. I've yet to wear those "alternate" shoes.

OMG RickinNYC! I think your brother takes the cake.

That night after the wedding, I was chatting with my brother and his new bride. She said, "I think it's so sad that you two are brothers and you don't stay in touch..."

My brother said, "If we weren't brothers, we wouldn't have anything to do with each other..."

Nice eh? But I did agree with him and said as much.

RickinNYC

O. M. G. That was unbelievably rude, tacky, hurtful, and everything else! I can't believe your brother did that? So, is he just an awful person or is there some sort of bad blood between you two? My brother and I never really got along much growing up, but are friends now, although not particularly close....but neither one of us would ever DREAM of being so awful! At that point, why bother going???? I'm so sorry you have him for family... :(

But, gotta know...what's the story behind the purple shoes and did you wear those or the white ones to the wedding??? The story has got to be a good one....

I wanted shoes that I'd wear again, not some fru-fru white ones with beads and what-not or ballet slippers or anything like that. I love the color purple, that's why my bridesmaids were in purple. Thus, my purple shoes which I wore quite a bit after our wedding.

I kept hearing, "You can't wear those shoes. Everyone will see them." and stuff like that. But when all was said and done, I got a phone call from the person that was giving me the hardest time about it a few days after our wedding. She told me she didn't see my shoes until I lifted my skirt at the reception - when DH took the garter off. Well duh, my skirt was floor-length so I knew that.

(My younger sister did even better. She had on yellow sneakers under her wedding gown and wore them on a regular basis until they finally fell apart.)

And I just have to say that Barb your friends/relatives have the worst bridesmaids dresses ever! Don't they have stylist in NY?

I think I like RRBB's bridesmaid dresses the best!

Well listen here Miss Scarlett Ohara. Don't let your hoop skirt get blown up over your head! ;) It was the BIG '80'S afterall!!!! BTW, sure made my quaint little lilac dresses and butt bows look pretty tame, huh? :p

Okay, weddings I stood up in (that I can remember)

1987 - Maria's big Italian wedding
1989 - Rosemary's big Italian wedding
1990 - My perfect German wedding ;)
1996 - Mary Jo's big Italian wedding

Oh, I'll have to find a pic from 1996 wedding. I was still nursing Hunter, and Maria still had her baby weight from having Connor, so MaryJo let us go and buy Liz Claiborne dresses off the rack. What a breath of fresh air!! Very simple fushia, short sleeve dress that came to the knee. We wore them with linen colored hose and I think we wore pearls. Very tasteful!

BTW, when we were up at A-Bay for our anniversary, there were all these proms going on. Thank God the girls are now back to wearing more traditional sleeveless gowns with the tight bodices that flair out. So pretty! A few years ago it seemed to be "who shows the most wins". Looked really trampy. ::yes::

I don't know about you, but I was thinking "wow, these are some cool glasses!" ;)

Rick, I think that is the worst story I have ever heard. I am so sorry your bro is such an ***.

CADBURYSMOM. I got an e-mail from LEWSKI. She has a message for you (it made her think of you):

"I just heard on the radio a lady in New York, Rose Marie Cherie, was arrested the other day for cutting a section of her neighbors lawn. I thought of her when I heard the story. She was charged with trespassing and something else."

That is COMPLETELY ridiculous and definitely NOT good news for me......sure hope my CRAZY neighbor doesn't get wind of it, I might be writing to you from jail .....And poor Rose Marie Cherie....I feel like sending her a sympathy card or something! Jeeez louise......what's this country coming to:rolleyes:
