Tagliarchy Island Part 2

That humming, buzzing chorus of insects heard on summer nights is usually due to cicadas -- small, stout-bodied, large-headed insects with sucking mouth parts. Cicadas are usually green with red and black markings. They are an inch or more in length and have 2 pair of wings. Cicadas also have a 3-jointed beak, an abdomen of six segments, prominent compound eyes, and three eyes (ocelli).

They are Bugs...

Lewski709 there is a business that you could do and people would pay $$$ for you to do cakes and cardds and such...

this is a cicada. I don't have them 'round here, I live in the city and my lot has no big <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/16/16_4_18.gif' border=0></a>'s. They are also known as locusts, but they aren't really.

Thanks!

Im sure we have them around here too....just don't really notice because there's too much other annoying bugs....mosquitos, black flies, ticks!!!!!!

>>shivers<<

I really do not like ticks!:crazy2:

:)

geffric my kitchen isn't big enough. I don't have the room (counter, fridge or cabinet space) to keep/make them. I also have NO dishwasher. It's ME. Plus, the whole thing of making cakes with an animal in the house gives me the willies. I would hate <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_18_2.gif' border=0></a> for someone to ever find a hair in something. People are soooooooo sue happy these days. I've not seen any hairs in my food or anything from Amos, but more importantly....I just don't have the room.

I loathe TICKS ! <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_2_202.gif' border=0></a>

One year, our other dog had a tick the size of a <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/12/12_8_9.gif' border=0></a> filled with blood. <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/10/10_3_1.gif' border=0></a>

Do you think my boys like one another? Just looking through older photos (not real old):

Sounds like my kitchen too.. I turn around and i am in the dining room/family room..

anyway it was a thought.. i keep trying to think of alternative ways to make a living. I feel that people that have their own business make more$$ and have more freedom and time for the kids..

kadaten as for the lovie......don't take it from Walt. Buy another, before it's lost though. He needs it and it isn't hurting a thing!!!! Treasure the moments!

I took Tye's binkie from him at 9mo's with no problem's. He wasn't so attached, but Grant has a teddy he has had since birth. It's ratty and ugly, but when he is sad, hurt or tired....he still wants him. We lost teddy at Meijer one time. It was catastrophic. We went out and got another just like it, but it was pastels instead of primary colors. He was "ok" with it, we call him teddy's brother. BUT........it wasn't pretty for a couple days til we found him. They aren't easy to come by and aren't made anymore. Here's teddy's brother:

Here's all I have left of the nuk:

geffric my mom has tried to talk me into it for a few years. I don't think I am that good either....but I have pondered it.

Our kitchen can't even accomodate a built in dishwasher. It isn't set up well, although there is room to walk around and I could have a small table in it, but it would be more in the way than anything.

Do you read John Rosemond? I like him. He's a bit harsh on some things, but in general I agree with him. He was once asked when do you take away a "lovey", like when they go to college or what? He said "not even then".

Be glad he has something that comforts him. Oh if life could be so simple as an adult.
I don't ever plan to take it away. I sucked my thumb for years for my comfort....and I'm glad his silkie won't give him expensive dental problems ::yes:: I figure he'll give it up when it embarasses him or when he doesn't need it any more. I just try to keep it from becoming a must-have 24/7. I had some kids in day care that just couldn't function without holding a blankie or whatever....and it really seemed to be more of a crutch than a comfort. Abbie at 3 1/2 still sleeps with her blankies. She prefers the double-thickness jersey ones from Baby Gap. :) Walt never took to those....found the silkie on a decoration hanging on his crib!

As for multiples...well I learned that lesson YEARS before I had kids. One summer when I was working in day care a little girl put her "lovey doll" in the trash can (unbeknownst to us!). When she went back to get it later, it was gone....the trash had been taken out hours earlier by maintenance and it was gone! She was inconsoleable, as was her mother, since they could no longer find that kind of doll and the little girl wouldn't accept any substitute. Since birth we've given Abbie multiple blankies...all the same type but lots of different designs, so she'll accept any double-thickness jersey blanket. And Walt has several silkies....2 full-size blankets with satin backs, and 3 small travel sized ones with satin front and flannel back :) Any time I find one I pick it up to keep in the stash :)

DO NOT take away any comfies from that boy. I KNOW THESE THINGS.

Ya know what? Now I look back on it and say WHO CARES? Eric came into this world a high maintenance baby. He was not a cuddler. He did not lie in his crib and play with his toes. He demanded my full and undivided attention. He was a mover and shaker (and still is). So believe me, when he was tired and needed to wind down, I was darned grateful for that plug!
Bichon Barb CALM DOWN, girlfriend! No worries...I will NOT be taking that silkie away from that boy! (You think I'm that stupid? Give him something else to scream about? I think NOT!! And PS...never did get that paci away from him...DH won't cooperate.)

Eric sounds just like Walt. Only Walt's a screamer, and the paci never quiets him down....he screams JUST as loud with it in as out. It does, however, allow him to fall off to sleep easier. (But he wakes up if he loses it  )

The silkie is SAFE from me :teeth:

Gave Grant a paci, but he never took to it. Actually, we didn't want him too. We were much smarter with baby #2. Isn't that ALWAYS the case??? Right now, I need a manual on how to "deal" with a 5yr old. He's always been a little difficult, but I think it's cuz he is the first and I wasn't around small kids much until he arrived.

Must show my cute new outfit........what do ya think?

OMG, what a great picture. You caught him mid-air...how often does that happen on film? And BTW, what a cutie he is too!
I can't believe I caught him! Was just trying to get a face shot which was nearly impossible since they were running around like screaming banshees  having the time of their lives :) He started jumping and laughing...luckily I was ready :) Only one I got from the front, too!!

We've got so many wonderful pics of kids and pets. I've been trying capture all of them in the color wheel photo albums, though I've missed some I'm sure.

As ohanafamily previously mentioned we do have a limit on space available so how about a few "rules" to keep our photo albums manageable.

TAGLIARCHY Photo Album (members of the TAGLIARCHY)
1) You may have one photo in this album.
2) You - the Tagliarchy member - must be in the photo.
3) You may have other family members, pets and/or friends in the photo with you.

TAGLIKINS' Families Photo Album
1) You may have one photo per family member (besides yourself) in this ablum.
2) You do not have to be in any of these photos.
3) Other family members, pets, and/or friends may be in the photo with your family member.

I'll use llebrekniT's family as an example. She could have up to 4 photos in this album - one for DH, one for DS-Daniel, one for DD-Holly, and one for DD-Ella. They can be in these photos by themselves or with other people and/or pets.

Pets of the TAGLIARCHY Photo Album
1) You may have one photo per pet in this ablum.
2) You do not have to be in any of these photos.
3) Other family members, pets, and/or friends may be in the photo with your family member.

I hope this is acceptable to everyone. I'll make sure I have links to all the Photo Albums in the Color Wheel. If you find you have more than the allowable number of photos in an album, please help me out by telling me which to keep and which to remove. And if you have new ones to replace existing photos in the album, let me know that too. (Oh, and if I've missed your photos all together, please don't shoot me but let me know which ones you want in there and I'll be happy to add them.)

It is a TIGHT photo. I must say, again...........we have the cutest kids here on the Island!!!:Pinkbounc :bounce: :earsgirl: :earsboy:
We must teach them well!

RRBB, excellent!!! It's totally great!

Now, I better scoot to bed. Talk to ya'll later.

Okay folks, I'm exhausted. Was out all day today running errands and such, then met ohanafamily for dinner. Get this, he doesn't like me to cook on the day the maid comes. He doesn't want to kitchen to get all "messed up" right after it's cleaned. Go figure. (Actually I was going to cook but forgot to take the meat out of the freezer this morning. And by the time I finished picking up his car from the "doctor" it was quicker and easier to just go out.) Welp, I'm off to bed. Sweet dreams everyone.

Which brings me to another comment. kadaten you are SOOOOOO very lucky to have captured him with your DD. He is THE hardest and least showing character in the world....this is NO LIE. I am utterly jealous and it's a marvelous photo!!!

Oh and kadaten do you pass out (needles and blood) I do! :faint:
More for Lewski709....so glad you liked them :) I love photography! Don't have any training, although I'm going to ask for a real SLR camera for Christmas with a class at a local camera shop, hopefully :) Don't know how to do f-stops and aperatures and all that jazz.... But I did photography for my HS and college yearbooks :) It was easier in college....GREAT camera provided (Canon EOS Elan with regular, zoom, and fish eye lenses) and TONS of film and developing that someone else paid for ::yes::

Lewski709....as for the :faint: thing, I used to! But have managed to work my way up to chicken status  In HS I was on student council and we sponsored a blood drive so here I was exhorting everyone to go give blood. "Why don't you?" they asked. "I'm not old enough....I'm only 16," I responded. Their answer--"Uh, Katie. Today's your birthday! Get in the chair!" Embarassed, I did. Less than 1/8 pint later I was out like a light! The Red Cross workers were tickled...laughed at me and told me to try back in 5 years and 15 pounds! And I wasn't small in HS!! Still have yet to give blood, other for pregnancy testing purposes, which was almost the end of me...

kadaten thanks for sharing more GREAT pictures. Walt will be my next boys name, if we have one....I LOVE IT! Grant was never a cuddler but Tye is and it's sooooooo wonderful.
Lewski709 Cute pups!!

In case anyone is wondering, Walt is actually named after his great-grandfather he never met. A really wonderful guy, Papa died only 9 months after DH and I married, but he was loving and welcoming to me from day one and we still miss him very much. He was a career Marine, retired as a Colonel, and spent 4.5 years of WWII in a Japanese prison camp, but you never heard him complain once about it. Instead, he'd tell you how they played cribbage and kept a running score for pennies the entire time, and paid their debts when they got out. We were recently given copies of his prison diaries....he never shared them with anyone while he was alive, and his widow only recently let her daughters have them to make copies for the grandkids. He was truly one of the best people I ever met.

BUT, half the people who know us but never met him don't believe that and think we named him after Disney ::yes:: Convenient, yes, but truly after his Papa.

Papa sounds like he was a wonderful man. Walt has a wonderful legacy to follow. ::yes::

Thanks, RRBB!!

Lewski709 I love that pic of Grand and Tye at Pop Century! Too cute :)

OK. I didn't start it, but I want to play! Wanna see my cake photos? All homemade, all hand-decorated, will not do for money...too much time involved (and licked fingers, too ;) )!!

Abbie's 2nd birthday cake...my choice, but she was very into "Ya Ya" at the time, as she called Cinderella. I apologize for the brown hair....the blond dolls were unattainable :(
cinderella%20cake.jpg

Abbie's 3rd birthday cake...HER choice, but loved by me because it was SO easy!!
fish%20cake.jpg

And the piece de resistance....you may recognize this from a Family Circle magazine cover...that's where I copied it from....it took 3 days....LIKE I SAID...will NOT do this for money...only for my kids ::yes::--Walt's 1st birthday cake:

Yes, those are individually decorated Teddy Graham divers, mermaids, boaters, and sun-bathers, and swimming multi-colored Goldfish crackers. The boat is a frosted Twinkie with a Fruit Roll-up sail, Lifesaver life rings, complete with Twizzler dockline tied up to a pretzel post with bird carved of marshmallow. The treasure chest is 2 Hershey's miniatures filled with silver dragees. The kelp is Fruit Rollup, the oysters are Jelly Belly jelly beans (one hiding a pearlized dragee pearl), and there are even starfish shaped chocolates. The mermaids have Fruit Rollup tails and are reclining on chocolate-covered raisin rocks. Oh, and the water....that's blue jello inside a well carved out of the top of the cake ::yes:: The "waves" are all frosted on....

A little over the top, I know, but we had a big family reunion on his birthday, so it needed to be a good one :) Besides, his sister had a princess cake, he deserved a good one, too ::yes:: We had loads of fun doing it ::yes:: but it'll be awhile before either of them gets one THIS good...
