Tagless & Formerly Tagless ... It's PEANUT BUTTER JELLY TIME!!

Well, I'll try to give the very-abridged version of our quest!....:rotfl:

We're leaving NH. Regardless of where we end up. But my dad lives in Florida and we'd like to be closer to him, at least for a while. He's on the west coast and we're trying to avoid the coastal counties (insurance and higher cost of rentals and such).

First we were looking at Ocala. I love it up that way, and the cost of living seems very reasonable (keeping in mind that all of FL is pretty much less than NH!), but I'm concerned it may not be a large enough city to offer enough of a job base.

So I started going down the map and that, of course, takes you to the greater Orlando area. I don't want to be smack in the city, but somewhere in the suburbs or outer reaches. Commutable to the city for job purposes, but a little bit more "out there" for housing. And, still a reasonable drive to my dad's north of St. Pete.

Are there communities that you would recommend?....equally, are there communities you would not recommend?

.

I have family in Lady Lake. They love it there.

Metro West: Unfortunately, we have to get someone to do our taxes. I have a home business and dh has a farm, so it's more than our lives are worth to get audited. The 2 years I did it, we did get audited. Since we got a preparer, we haven't been.

We end up having to pay taxes in NC because we work in SC and live in NC. So we have to pay both states. But we get a bit of a refund of paid taxes from SC.

Since you don't want to be downtown, I would recommend Lake Mary, Windermere, Hunter's Creek or Clermont. I would stay away from the downtown Orlando area and the East side of town...too much traffic.

We'll be renting. I have never felt so trapped in my life as I do right now with this house here.....I'd like to be free of that for a while at least!

Ah OK...If you want to be close to stuff and still away from downtown, you might want to look at Hunters Creek. You're close to Disney and downtown...commute wise. It's a nice area with lots of rental property.

Thanks for the tips Metro!....I'll look into that.:thumbsup2

Sure...Do you like Flea Markets? I love to go to Renninger's in Mount Dora on Saturdays. It's a lot of fun and it's a beautiful area...small though.

YES!! There was actually a huge one going on near my dad's last weekend when I was there, but he doesn't do crowds so I never made it over. That sounds like a blast!

.

The Mt. Dora flea market is great. And Mt. Dora is a very quaint town. My sister lives in Leesburg (this area is really growing) and my brother-in-law works in Orlando. Its an hour and half commute each way but the job is worth it and they really love where they live.

And don't forget the annual Corn Festival in Zellwood...have you been to that?

No. But please tell me about it.
It's kinda like a county fair atmosphere with live bands, arts and crafts and all the sweet corn you can handle. It's a lot of fun! They hold it Memorial Day weekend but I missed last year's festival.

I'll have to find out if my sister knows about this. I live in S.C.. So I live Fl. through her. :rotfl: My favorite thing about Fl is Disney. Hers is swimming with the manatees. Which they are incredible. I just can't handle the cold water.

Yeah...If she lives in Leesburg, she should know about the festival. I saw on the website they aren't having it this year.

Double

:lovestruc You and me both. :lovestruc I totally get a drunk dread-locked pirate obsession. Seems perfectly normal to me. ;)

Happy to be amongst those who consider me normal. :lmao:

It's hard to get motivated with my rotten sinus headache with dizzy head. I need to get a humidifier for my bedroom. That should help. I had been doing better with the OMT, but this past week it's been worse. My nose is too dry and bloody. I have nasal spray moisturizer, but it's not enough.

I hope you feel better soon! I get allergy shots, but I notice that my nose has been a bit stuffy for a couple of weeks. It's no fun when your sinuses are bothering you.

I'm having a really tough time with my sinus's right now. And I don't understand it. Its normally spring or fall time for me. But not winter.:confused3

I'm the same way, I was actually shocked to find them bothering me this winter.

Faith...it doesn't mean that worry never slips in. That's just human nature. I just know above all else God is in control of my life. And that is what gives me peace. I would love to one day share my testimony with you. :goodvibes

Thank you for writing that. What a wonderful perspective.

There's an old saying in the Irish side of my family where you, "kiss it up to God," or "give it up to God." :goodvibes

I wish I could exemplify that more often. :confused3

Anybody watching the SuperBowl tomorrow? And if you are did you get your 3-D glasses? I got ours a couple a weeks ago. Trying to decide what our munchies are gonna be. I know hubby is doing his famous wings. I have been craving baked potatoe soup. So I may fix a pot of that. And other than chips, veggies and dips I think that is gonna be it.

I don't know if we'll actually watch it. Long story short, we're heading to my MIL's. Whom we still haven't seen for Christmas. Ahem. Like I said, long story.

Right.
And I don't have 40+ pairs of shoes.

:rotfl2:

We usually go to a friends house and he usually has cheese and crackers out, chips and dip and homemade queso, and meatballs. BF has access to a great kitchen at work and one of the cooks is making us Buffalo Chicken Dip to bring and BF is chocolate coating pretzels and marshmallows. I'm going to make Nutella Roll-Ups (butter crescent rolls rolled up with Nutella inside) and I also bought a prosciutto/mozerella roll from the deli. While it won't be as good as it was when BF and I had dinner with the TK clan, I imagine it will hit the spot.

Well, aw shucks. Thanks for the dinner shout out. And those Nutella Roll-Ups sound fantastic. I may need to request those the next time you come up. Or we go down. Whatever, I'm flexible. :thumbsup2

And, hi everyone!

My goodness you're getting to me with all this Florida talk. It makes ME want to move!!! :cool1:

Thanks Metro. :goodvibes

TarzansKat...:goodvibes how is your little one doing? I hope he is getting over his cold.

Don't worry about being "normal" here. We established along time ago that normal is just a setting on your dyer. :rotfl:

And as far as the trip to the mil's goes....:grouphug: And don't worry about missing the super bowl. You'll probably here tink and creativeamanda yelling loud enough to keep you informed on what is happening. :rotfl:

You know I miss my little "ha" smilie. He is on page 2 now.

Thanks Metro. :goodvibes

He's doing better, thank you. Although still warm to the touch, much, much lower a fever than yesterday. And he's not eating that much, but again, more than yesterday. So it's all a progression. :thumbsup2

Honestly, I'm not a huge football fan, but I do love the commericals. That, and the year DS was born, the Superbowl was the day before, and the Patriots won! (I'm from New England.) I remember it so vividly, because I was having a lot of lower back pain, and contractions that weren't regular enough to time. :lmao: So even though I'm not a sports girl, I guess the superbowl has a special place in my heart. :thumbsup2

I know, I always get frustrated when they move the smilies around.

I'm glad he is doing better. :goodvibes
I'll tell ya a little secret...I'm not a football fan either. I just get caught up in the super bowl. :confused3 I completely understand why the super bowl holds a special place in your heart. :goodvibes

LegoMom, best of luck selling your house.

Maybe some of you guys are in areas that are not so bad; you are lucky. Where I am it is bad. Jobs are hard to come by. Construction is way down, houses not selling, stores closing. It's sad. Many people are cold b/c they can't afford heating oil. For instance, my cousins wife may be out of a job and health insurance for her family very soon and my cousin is worried he won't have full time work soon too. She already took a pay cut hoping to keep her job. My daughter has been trying very hard to find a job. There is nothing in our town. She has started to look 10 plus miles away in a small city and still nothing. It would be difficult for her to work out of town b/c we have to share a car but we are getting desperate. Only a few more options, maybe one of those will work out.

I hope you feel better soon! I get allergy shots, but I notice that my nose has been a bit stuffy for a couple of weeks. It's no fun when your sinuses are bothering you.

I had allergy shots for about 6 months. Then about a year ago I had a rare late, very scary allergic reaction. I had difficulty breathing and could have died b/c the idiot I called blew me off. The next day I went back to the Allergy Clinic and they were very concerned and said I should have called 911 right away b/c I could have stopped breathing. I was lucky to come out of it with only Benadryl.

I checked the status of my state return and it was mailed out Friday. :cheer2: Do you know what that means? Heating oil!!! I can't wait to have a little more heat in here. I'm also going to give my brother a little b/c he is laid off for the winter and barely scraping by.

I'm cheering for the Cardinals tomorrow.
