That sounds like a pretty good place to be. :thumbsup2

Did you watch AI tonight? I love Adam!!

Just checking in after watching AI. I loved Adam too! I already pre-ordered his song from iTunes.

Hope everyone had a great day!

LegoMom - glad to see you found a home. Can't wait to find out more about it. Like what Starbucks it's close to.

TK - Keep us updated on the house hunt.

I've never tried fried pickles, but I like most things fried so it'd probably be good.

Good morning, sunshine!!!!

And to answer some questions from yesterday....

That sounds like a pretty good place to be. :thumbsup2

We are in a good place. I really can't complain.

I actually haven't watched AI at all this season. Normally we watch Reaper, but because DS took a nap yesterday, he had a later bed time.

Then DH and I stayed up talking for an hour and a half after that. About everything! But it was a very good talk, cleansing for the soul. :goodvibes

TK - Keep us updated on the house hunt.

I'll be sure to let you know. We're all set to go look at the two houses today around 6, and I'm curious to see how my husband reacts to them. I'm pretty sure I know how I'll feel, because they're only slightly bigger than our apartment, but again, you never know. :thumbsup2

Just dropping in to say Happy Hump-Day.

Still not at 100%, but well enough to go to work, as this is office day, anyway. Was going to go to the gym, but that's not going to be in the cards, so to speak.

TK--Good luck with the house hunt. I remember doing that before we built our house. Make sure you look in the attic/area where the attic should be. One house we looked at had like no trusses up there. :scared1: I remember our builder saying, "I can build you that house for X less." And then deciding to build. We had him go with us to every house we were looking at, but we trusted him. You have to get someone you trust to look at the construction of the houses. Eddie didn't even know we were thinking of building until that last house with no trusses.

I think I need to go back and apologize to Legomom for the appearance of Lumberton. Not a real aesthetically appealing town, I know. But the people here are really poor. In relation to others in the area, dh and I are "rich" and we are living off of 2 teachers' salaries. Unemployment here is like 22%. I'm glad you enjoyed South Carolina, though (my home state). I bet she really liked driving through Santee. That's my favorite part of I-95. :lovestruc Charleston and Abbeville are still my favorite two cities/towns in SC. Charleston for obvious reasons, Abbeville because my first date with dh was in Abbeville.

My DH is all about building a house.

Quite frankly, it scares me. I do know a few contractors from working at the bank, and one in particularly that I really like, so I could always ask him these types of questions.

Good morning everyone.

TarzansKat, good luck.

creativeamanda, hope you are feeling much better by the end of the day. Those poor people with such a high unemployment rate. :sad1: Makes me sad.

Easter egg hunt at daycare today. This should be cute. I helped them make their baskets yesterday.

Good morning ya'll. :goodvibes

Hey Mean Queen... Hope all is well in your world. Adam is awesome. He is entertaining as well as talented. I would go to one of his concerts. That is how I look at any of them. Would I sit through a concert?

TK...it might not hurt to talk to a builder. You might be surprised. And talk to different builders. Like anything, you will get different prices per square foot. We nterviewed 4 when we built our home. (we actually went to properties they had already built) Its a shame you don't live in SC. We could do your survey. Build or buy. :goodvibes

creativeamanda... I'm glad you are feeling better. I hope today is a good one for you

SadieDog...Have fun with those little ones and their Easter egg hunt.

I like Adam, too.

SadieDog, have fun Easter egg hunting with the kiddos!

Smileybug: Have a great day--I wish you could have suveyed my property. I still think the guy ripped us off! Does it usually cost $1200 to survey a 5 acre square when 2 sides are clearly marked with cement markers? I always wanted to know. . .

TK: It wouldn't hurt to talk to different builders, too.

I just had bisquits with sausage gravy and grits for breakfast!!...:goodvibes

No, I'm not kidding.

Soooo......

We bought the house! Can't. Believe. It. (Mean Queen it's not too far from your Starbucks!...I'll PM you the details!)

Now to finally unload that U-Haul and try to get some sense of normalcy back in our lives....!

YAY for you guys :cool1:

good morning everyone :goodvibes

today is dd's mock try outs :dance3:

creativeamanda....I kind of hate to tell you this. We would have charged $1200.00 or more to survey your property. (You did well for $1200.00) Just for future reference in case you need surveying done to any more property. This is what is done.... When we survey a property, we have to research your property and joining properties so we know how to establish corners. If there are only two corners on your property we have to find or establish the remainder. Once surveyed the field information is given to one of our technicians in the office, so they can compile all the information obtained. A professional surveyor must review the information on the plat to insure correctness. Once the surveyor signs the plat it is submitted to the Regulatory Authority for their approval. Once approved by them it is recorded with the county. If that is what the owner wants. Depending on your property, 5 acres could take 6 to 8 hours of field work. Combined research and office is most likely 8 hours. Time of review for the licensed surveyor is 1 to 2 hours. And once a licenced surveyor signs and gives you your plat, he is responsible for it the rest of his life.

Depending on your area, a standard survey crew rate is approximately $100.00 an hour, a technician could be $55.00 an hour, and a licensed surveyor could be $80.00 an hour. So you can see where the cost comes from. These hourly rates include, to name a few, workers pay, E&O insurance, office rent, equipment, etc.; it adds up quickly.

I just wanted to make sure you understand what goes into surveying a property and where the cost comes from. :goodvibes

Biscuits, sausage gravy and grits....we are gonna make a southern girl out of you yet. :rotfl:But you haven't had sausage gravy until you have tasted mine. :thumbsup2

YAY for you guys :cool1:

good morning everyone :goodvibes

today is dd's mock try outs :dance3:

I'm sure your DD has a great trial run. :thumbsup2

Smileybug, thanks for that information. I guess the $500 we paid him for subsequent surveys of the same property area was agood deal or he had less to survey. That makes me feel better about that--I always wondered.

Legomom: You're HOME! I hope you enjoy your new digs!

thank you that is so sweet. :goodvibes

everyone have a great day. :wizard:

Adam is my favorite too. I found last nights show pretty dull. Hope next week is better. Lets hope for a good theme.

My daughter needed the car today b/c she had a 9:15 Dr appt. I had to call school to let them know she would be late b/c she had to drop me off. Then I had to write her a note saying she had to leave for her Dr appt then again
at 11am to pick me up. She brought me home and went back to school with the car b/c she has to work after school. Really need a 2nd car and I don't know how that is going to happen. Pretty difficult in this economy finding someone who wants to buy waterfront property.

LegoMom. :yay: That's great news. Interesting breakfast. :lmao: I've never had grits and the only sausage I eat is made out of turkey.
