Good morning. Freezing rain here and no school. The kids are still sleeping of course.

I spent a few hours at the vet yesterday. They were also concerned about a blockage so we took x-rays. They normally take 2 but they took 4 b/c they said her body was too big to fit on 2. :lmao: They didn't charge me for the extra. 2 vets looked at them and then they brought me in to see them. They did not see anything unusual or causing problems. Good news about the xrays is that they said her hips look good. They agreed that something she ate was making her very sick, but it seemed to be passing through her ok. They gave her IV fluids under her skin which included antibiotics and vit B. They told me to treat her like a child with the flu and feed her small meals of broth with toast

When we got home, I had to give her 2 huge medicine dispenser like containers filled with white barium. The "droppers" were 13 inches long and an inch wide. They were so big that my hand would not fit so I couldn't use my thumb to press the end. I had to hold her mouth open and hold the thing against my stomach and use my stomach to press the meds in. Once I got 1/2 of it out, I could use my thumb. It was quite comical and just like they said, made a mess of white liquid everywhere. The barium usually makes them feel better and helps get whatever the object is out. She mentioned that she may puke it up. She did throw up all over her recently washed bedding. Wow, what a mess. Taking care of her yesterday was a full time job. :lmao: I didn't try the broth and toast till 5:30. She kept it down and had it 2 more times before going to bed. This morning my husband gave her both with 2 toasts and she has kept that down so far but not asking for more. That is very little food for her considering she normally has 4 1/2 cups twice a day. She seems to be doing ok and her spirits are better. Last night she passed what looked like a leg of a stuffed animal. She also threw up greenery from a bush along with grass. I suspect the bush was not a good thing to eat. I just realized this was long. Sorry, thanks for listening.

SadieDog no need to apologize for being "long!"....we're glad for the update and very glad that Dega appears to be coming around.

Also glad to see you on here this morning! Have you lost power at all? We lost it sometime in the night because I heard the generator running. Then at 5:00am my DS9 woke me up crying, so I went down to see what was up. That was when I noticed that the generator had stopped!!.... ....which it has NEVER done before. DS9 had had a bad dream, so I brought him up to the livingroom with me. While I was re-starting the fire in the stove, DH came out and proceeded to investigate the generator. Still not sure why it stopped but he managed to get it going again by hitting the "manual" button inside it.

Our local news has pre-empted Good Morning America and there are over 630 school closings!! I'm sure the entire state is shut down. I'm taking some pictures and will post those later! Cuz, y'know, I wouldn't those of you in your warm happy southern places to feel left out!....:rotfl2:

I'm so happy that we have power. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it stays. The freezing rain is coming down pretty hard right now. It would be very pretty if the sun came out. I look forwad to your pics.

Glad you got your generator going. Wow, it would be great to have a generator. I just looked out my window to notice some small trees and bushes are bent over with the tops touching the ground. Poor things. They are not looking too good. :lmao:

I hope Dega is doing well!

It sounds like your winter weather is like our hurricane season. But a lot colder.

Holy cow! :scared1: I'm glad she's feeling better though.

ok...so I think I have become the unofficial - official Christmas decorator this year.... Mom didn't want to do it this year...but Christmas isn't Christmas without the decorations!

Aww, Any particular reason why Mom didn't want to decorate this year?

Here is a glimpse into my world today!....

It started to melt a little bit this afternoon when the sun made a brief appearance, but most of the trees are still encased in ice. That's not good since tonight is supposed to be downright frigid and tomorrow only in the 20s.

Calgon take me away!

Ya she didn't want to decorate because my parents are leaving to Vegas, they got a 2bdrm suite for New Years) on the 26th-right after Christmas-(I'm leaving heading up there on the 30th) and she said that she wouldn't be able to take it down, especially the tree, it would die since no one will be here for about 10 days. But that's why I told her if we decorate then we have atleast 2 1/2 weeks (cause decorations don't sometimes get put up until a few days before Christmas :lmao:) So she told me that if I wanted to put them up I could...so I did...

Then I did my gmas house when you would drive down her street, every corner house was decorated and then you got to her house and it was dark :rotfl2: So I had to do it there too. The only think I didn't do was put the lights on the roof, cause for some reason they don't allow me on the roof, something about I might fall off of it or something :lmao:

Wow! It's been a long time since I've been to places like that. Although I havn't seen plant encased in ice before.....wow, good luck and stay warm.

Those are beautiful pictures LegoMom. I hope you manage to stay warm despite the layers of ice. I have a feeling you will really enjoy your visit in January. :thumbsup2

Those pictures are gorgeous! I love when the trees glisten after they're coated with ice

Legomom--I love those pictures--they are beautiful. But honestly, at the same time I'm just glad it's not me.

It's pretty for about a minute. Then the reality of it hits you and you've had enough. I just heard on tv that there are now 400,000 homes without power throughout NH. The highest number that our utility co. has ever dealt with was 93,000, so that gives you an idea of how massive this storm was.

.

That ice storm sounds like the one we had about this time last year. DD & I were without power for 25 hrs. I had to go to the bathroom like 5 am(16 hours or so after the power went out). When I sat on the toilet seat, OMG!!!!!!!!! It scared the pee up in me. Gave new meaning to the phrase "freezing your buns off".

Good morning.

Great pics LegoMom. Looks like those could have been taken from my yard. I still can't believe that I had power all day. It went off once and came back on. That was pretty lucky b/c we usually have fallen limb and trees. Maybe the storm a few weeks ago broke most of the weak ones. A line fell and caught fire. It was night so it looked pretty scary. I had to call 911. We had fire and police out here for a few hours. A few hours earlier, down the road close to my brothers hours, a tree fell across the road ripping lines too.

Dega is feeling good again.

YIKES, MUST GO SHOPPING

Still without power. It'll be 48 hours sometime tonight. We are cutting the generator off during the day so it doesn't wipe out the propane tank. PSNH is calling for people to be prepared to be without power for "several days."

Now, see, when you have a hurricane or some such in Florida and lose power, it's not comfortable to be sure. But you're not going to die (otherwise healthy people). You lose power up here, in the winter, when daytime temps barely make 20 and overnight dips close to zero....you can die without heat!!!

The house should be officially listed before Christmas and I am so out of here..... Stick a fork in me, Ma, I'm done!:rotfl:

Oh yeah!...and I seem to have caught the flu. Lovely.

SadieDog - GREAT news on Dega!!:goodvibes

LegoMom, I am so sorry that you are without electricity and heat. I would be ready to leave and move South, myself.

LegoMom, hang in there. Luckily you have the generator even if it's not on at all times. It SUCKS not having one at all. Hopefully your house will be restored soon. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.
