I would not be excited about that particular student either.

DD broke up with her BF yesterday morning at the lockers. :lmao:

Did she say why?

TK, sleep well now that the condo stress is gone. :goodvibes

TK--I'm glad you feel good about what happened with the condo.

I've had a rough week--again. Last week a good friend of mine passed away. This week one of dh's former students was killed in a single car accident. He was 24.

With everything happening at work this week and last with our former superintendent (he sent in his resignation Tuesday), losing Billie Jo, and now the loss of Josh, I can honestly say I'm coming close to the cracking point this week.

To top it off, I was informed this afternoon that I will have a new student next week. Although I typically get excited about new students, this one particularly upsets me. Social Services had to move him from a residential facility to a foster family because he attempted to stab a student in the facility last week. IMO, disability or no, he does not need to be in a school. My prinicipal does not know about him yet. He will probably refuse entry to his school and require the district to do homebased services. I hope so.

First of all, just for you and what you've been through....:hug::hug:

Re: that student - we had something similar happen in our elementary school in NH last year. This kid had been through all the other schools in the district that took "challenging" kids, and had problems. But, the parents somehow thought it would "be different" this time and the school & district can't refuse such kids, so over he came. He was VERY disruptive - combative with the teachers, etc. My two youngest would come home and tell how they couldn't concentrate on a given day because "Johnny" was yelling and throwing stuff in the other room. :sad2:

.

I'm off to bed too. Yup, 8:30 on a Friday night and I am going to bed to watch TV.

I'm going to bed to read my romance novel! :lmao: I'm hoping for sweet dreams.

Goodnight, hon, and fellow babnanas! :goodvibes

Good news, though. The school district where my kids go to in South Carolina is the ONLY district in the state where ALL schools met Annual Yearly Progress!!!! This district is deep in the "Corridor of Shame".

Proof positive, it's not more money the kids need or better buildings.

It's teachers who care.

:cheer2: for the caring teachers :cheer2:

Hey, folks! Hope you all had a good Friday.

Well, I've got a little spring in my step today because I know I can sleep tonight and not worry over this condo thing anymore! We did not get the condo, they took the other offer. Honestly, I'm not even sad. It was lovely, but obviously not meant to be and I am so glad it is over....

...that means that there is something BETTER on the horizon...

My daughter's 5th grade math teacher is on maternity leave. The district could not find a certified teacher to fill in for her. So all of the certified middle school math teachers in the school district are taking turns giving up their planning period for no compensation and teaching the math class.

I should say, there will be compensation--when those kids help the school meet AYP again.

That's great they are willing to do that. We have some retired teachers still in the area that like to sub.

....REALLY great.....I know that many of my colleagues would NOT do that...:sad2:

I can imagine the burn out rate for teachers is pretty high. It is a very selfless job working for a lot of selfish people (not always the kids, many times the parents.)

Happy Sunday all! We were thinking of driving up to the World today, but there wasn't enough sleep at DD's sleepover to try to spend a day at a park. I am determined to do it next weekend. I'm going through withdrawals.
