Puppy you say. What kind of puppy do you have?

Oh.. She's a pointer. GSP. We had one for 13 years who passed away last June. She was such a great dog. miss her so much. So, after the holidays, we (I) decided it was time for another one. We'll... In January we brought home Heidi and I FORGOT how hard training a puppy can be. I am losing my mind. I guess the fact that we didn't have kids when our 1st dog was a puppy helped a little... now it's just more chaotic. What was I thinkin?? I know eventually she'll get better and calm down a little... but EVERY DAY she does something that makes me crazy. What kind of dog do you have?

I LOVE German Shorthairs. I had a GSP/Bluetick mix for 15 years. I had her when I was in High School and when my kids were born. Very high energy. Before she died we got a german shephard mix puppy. That brought some life into her. My shephard mix (Sadie) died at 8 of cancer. She was the sweetest easiest dog ever.

I was dogless for 7 long months. I wanted a giant breed all my life and searched until the right one came along. I now have 2, brother and sister, 1/2 great dane 1/2 saint bernards. Their parents were each pure breads. They came 1 month apart. I only planned on 1. 2 puppies even brought home 1 month apart - NOT easy. My girl Dega who is finally healed from hernia surgery is 143 lbs. My boy Hendrick is 158. They are wonderful beasts. :upsidedow

Ok, I don't think I'm cut out for the country life after all......DH had to do in a raccoon this evening and I'm just sick about it...:sad1: I'm sure there's more than one around, but it/they have been wreaking havoc with our barn and all the feed. I've taken to storing the feed bags in the CAB of the truck!!...but these things learn that there's food in the chicken coop and food in the goat pen. I caught one in the goat shed the other night but it got away. Tonight I went to close the chickens up in the coop and there was another one, right in the food trough. I shut the door to trap it in there and ran to get DH. That was the end of Mrs. Raccoon (yep....Mrs.....I feel like CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!).

I told DH I don't wanna keep livestock anymore if this is what happens! I'm such a stinkin' SAP.:sad2:

.

Every time I tell BF that I want a farm or a horse ranch he reminds me of things like this. And convinces me that this is why I couldn't have one. He worked on his grandfather's ranch in KY when he was in HS and I ask him to only share the HAPPY stories.

Sorry about having to, er, solve the raccoon problem. Maybe try researching other methods to, well, dispatch them or keep them from the feed?

I've got nothing. I'm sorry. I totally get you. Roadkill makes me cry.

I now have 2, brother and sister, 1/2 great dane 1/2 saint bernards.

This is what BF wants, though just one. He's obsessed with the mix of breeds and the sheer size of the dogs. LOL

Our landlord had a Saint Bernard but they had to put him down recently as he had bone cancer in his back legs. He wasn't my dog but I loved him. He was a big baby. His name was Malachai.

Morning Babnanas! Amanda's doing the 8-day dance.
I'm doing the 121 day dance! LOL

Don't fret, in 22 short days you'll be Double-Digit Dancin'!!!

Mornin' 'Nanners! (sorry Tink, I've always wanted to say that!)...

Busy morning for me...Hope you all have a fantastic Thursday!

.

TK, best of luck keeping that blood pressure down.

Thank you! :goodvibes

IMHO, and we all know I'm no doctor, the bean is great. Especially post-consumption of Mike & Ike's and 7.4lbs of cheese products. ;)

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

Well, TK, we all know how your blood pressure is these days, but how's the rest of your system functioning lately??!....:scared1:

:rotfl2:

.

Actually, things are quite regular, thank you. :lmao:

You know what's funny, normally I have issues with dairy (since I've gotten older, I've gotten more lactose intolerant) but it doesn't seem to bother me with this pregnancy, which is super exciting.

Bring on the ice cream!!! :lmao:

Eek! To be fair, I ate the other 7.4lbs. of cheese products. We're both guilty. But it was SOOOO worth it.

And by way of a short and sweet explanation, TK and I had a "girly" weekend this weekend that included an A.MA.ZING hotel room with an even more A.MA.ZING bathtub, Afternoon Tea, lots of room service (and some more room service on the side), pedicures, the Aquarium and lunch. ::yes::

Awesomeness.

We'll probably do a short little stint about it on our TR.

I was reviewing the pictures on my camera. I haven't uploaded them yet, but I still die laughing every time I see the picture of that penguin.

I can't even tell you what runs through my mind. It's so un-DIS-propriate.

Can someone lend me a goat to head butt my dog. We need to knock some sense into her stubborn little head. (she's just a puppy, so I'm hoping she will grow out of this behavior soon. )

Aww, puppies. My cousin has a bull mastiff puppy that is about 8 months old and 80 pounds. She's the sweetest thing, but if you don't watch her like a hawk, she eats everything in sight.

For example, while my mom was ill, a lot of baking was going on in that house, to bring to my dad. I believe the dog scarfed two whole trays of Italian cookies before anyone figured out what she was up to. :lmao:

Today is dh's birthday. I got him (and me, lol) a Droid to replace his sad old phone. Now the problem is getting him to stop playing with the thing.

I'm off to see if the Verizon app for Disney works on Droid. I know it did not work with my Blackberry.

I'm a day late, but Happy Birthday to your DH!

TK - Good luck with the BP trouble. It sounds like your doctor is right on top of it.

Thank you!

Still working on finding enough time to write up a bit on my Keys to the Kingdom tour.

I'd love to hear about it when you have time. :goodvibes

Morning, babnanas! :banana::banana::banana:

I'm feeling pretty good today. Have a couple of appointments, then work, but birds are singing, sun is shining, life is good.

And no, I'm not drinking the Kool Aid. ;)

Your boyfriend has good taste. ;) They are so loveable and comical.

:sad1: Putting a beloved dog down is so difficult.

I'm doing the no trip planned-who knows when I'll get back moan. :rotfl2:

I'd love to see this sweet little puppy. I know all about puppies that eat everything. 1 of mine was obsessed with wet washcloths. Things got better with time.

Afternoon, all. In 113 days, you'll be doing the 8-day dance, Tink, and I'll be dancing for you all.

You all know how much I love dogs and puppies--they are so trusting and always happy to see you. Goggies=a huge lift in self-esteem.

OMG. It's hysTERical. This little guy was just...well, he was making the most of his habitat.

Your boyfriend has good taste. ;) They are so loveable and comical.

Unfortunately we don't have the space for a puppeh that big otherwise I'd be gung-ho. I'm obsessed with English bulldogs right now. I mean, c'mon, how can you say no to this face:

That's how I felt.. I just didn't like being Dog-less.... But when she gets into stuff, I begin to think I should have known that puppies are trouble. I really did forget how bad they can be in the beginning. It's not even the housebreaking thing. She's been good with that. (knock on wood)... it's just stealing food, (a cake I just baked for a friend.. gone in 2 seconds). stealing from my 2 year old, jumping on the table, busting my screen door, and ripping up pillows from patio chairs... but the wierdest thing.. she eats baby wipes. :confused3 I KNOW... she will grow out of it eventually.. I just have to be patient.

This is just a recap of my kid-free weekend trip to Disney.

My 2 BFF's and I checked in at Animal Kingdom Villas in the Kidani side. The first thing I noticed about our Savannah view Studio was all savannah, no animals. Except an African duck. But we had big plans and needed to go, go, go. After a quickstop at DTD to renew passes, we headed over to the Dolphin for our dinner at Todd English's Blue Zoo. We checked in and started acting like country bumpkins new to the city, taking pictures of all the fancy schmancy stuff. The menu looked amazing, mostly seafood. But I had already budgeted out for the special chef's 5 course tasting. The waiter told us it was "highly recommended" we all order it because of pacing. After some discussion, we all went for it. The first course was a scallop on something, something, with something and squash. So yummy! I think it was an amuse bouche, just a little something to get your appetite going. Cause it did. The second course was very cool, literally. It was a tuna tartare with nitro-sirachi sauce. The waiters poured the nitrogen frozen sauce over the tuna creating a very cool dry ice effect. It tasted great too, we all wanted the bread to come out so we could sop up the leftovers. Next came course 3. It was a small version of one of the restaurants main meals, Simply Fish. It was halibut with a creamy dijon crab sauce, arugula salad, and heart of palm. I may order this if we go back, because it was amazing (and much cheaper.) We finally got the bread and did sop up the leftovers. Course 4 was a wagu beef filet. It was good, but I prefer my steak less marbley. At this point, I was getting very stuffed. But we still had course 5. It was a trio of desserts, peanut butter lava cake, raspberry napoleon, and something with chocolate, passion fruit, and peanut butter crunch. YUM YUM! I would highly recommend this restaurant and especially for adventurous eaters, the 5 course chef tasting.

After dinner, we checked out the Dolphin. Did you know it as the coolest half and half revolving door? We ran through it like giddy children. Once we were done making fools of ourselves, we took off for Epcot. It was having EMH. We made it just in time for Illuminations. We got on Test Track, tried Soarin', but then realized we were too tired for a 45 minute line. We had big plans the next morning and had to get to bed.

Back at the room, I did a quick animal check. Still nothing. My friends wanted me to call the front desk and ask when the dancing animal show would begin. :rotfl2:

Saturday I get up early and check for animals. There was an animal I would describe as an African deer and one vicious African duck. It attacked the CM trying to clean out the pond. I heard the woman yelling at it to let go of her cleaning net. :rotfl: Once again, my friends suggest I call the front desk to find out about the dancing animal show.

Now is the time we have been waiting for, the Keys to the Kingdom tour. And I'll have to finish that story later.

Ohhhh.. you're near Hershey??? That's my next favorite place. We're in Lower Bucks County... near where George W crossed the Delaware.

There's a few horses and cows around, but not too many goats.

Can someone lend me a goat to head butt my dog. We need to knock some sense into her stubborn little head. (she's just a puppy, so I'm hoping she will grow out of this behavior soon. )

I'm about 35-40 minutes West of Hershey.

I was dogless for 7 long months. I wanted a giant breed all my life and searched until the right one came along. I now have 2, brother and sister, 1/2 great dane 1/2 saint bernards. Those aren't dogs, they're livestock.

The dog just wants to make sure that it's butt is wiped after it poops. :rotfl: :lmao:

OMG mine loved baby wipes too. :rotfl: Puppies ARE trouble and a lot of work. When I take care of my brothers golden retriever puppy, it all comes back to me. Of course they are still going to act like a puppy, but daily exercise is very helpful. A tired dog is a happy dog and less destruction will make you happy.

Mean Queen, I look forward to hearing more. I still can't believe no animals in your savannah view room. A vicious duck and 1 deer does not count. :lmao:
