Catching up a bit. I had to go in to work today. Then it was wrapping time. I picked up some filets, stuffed mushrooms, baked potatoes and lobster tails for Christmas Eve dinner. Yummy! I have a lot of baking to do. I usually make lots of cookies, but haven't had time this year.

We also do the regular AP's because both of our girls have birthdays during off times. DD8 always loves hitting Disney around her birthday since it's right before she goes back to school.

Ok, I know I posted to this thread earlier today. But I don't see my message. I think it had something to do with finally being done shopping. Most of my wrapping is also done. Now it's time to clean since I'm having Christmas Eve dinner at my house.

Whenever I join these threads, it's always too late and it's dissolved into just another community thread. I never end up with the tag, although it may be my fault for not being witty enough. Maybe I'll ask Santa for a tag for Christmas...

Hey everyone!

Just popping in for a quick hi! We went to see a theatrical production of "A Christmas Carol" today, which was VERY well done. We all really enjoyed it.

I'm hoping to get some Christmas cookies made tomorrow!! I've done none so far - no time!

My DH gets to spend tomorrow morning trying to get the rest of the snow and ice off the roof, before we get heavy rain in the afternoon/evening. People all over the state are dealing with ice damming in "lesser" cases, and roof collapse in a few extreme cases! Yeah, great....just what I need with a house that's for sale...

Good evening to you. It's a good idea to take that stuff off the roof...you're only asking for trouble if you don't.

What kind of cookies are you going to bake? I LOVE the peanut butter cookies with kisses in the middle....YUM!

After DH takes care of the roof, he's going shopping! Well, can't blame him,
he works so much he hasn't had the time until now. I will be making gingerbread and sugar cookie cut-outs today!

And then watching the Pats play at 4:00!

Glad you're getting the roof fixed. That sounds like such a pain. I learn so much on the Dis, I had never heard of ice damming before.

I am going to finish up wrapping today, clean the house for Christmas Eve, and maybe get some baking done. Though baking usually messes the house up. Maybe I should do that first.

We're watching our Bucs at 4. I can't believe we made the playoffs.

We're watching our Bucs at 4. I can't believe we made the playoffs.

What it is is a build-up of ice on the edge of the roof (and I'm talking like 5-6 inches thick and a foot wide). Then when more melting happens, the water can't roll off the roof so it backs up and gets under the shingles and ultimately into your walls.... Fun. People all over the state are dealing with it right now, so I don't feel quite so bad.

We just wrapped everything and realized our youngest got a lot less than the older. She won't notice, but our older will notice that the younger didn't get much from Santa. So we're running out to buy the all annoying "Tickle Me Elmo."

Oh yeah, we've got one of those....! Fortunately mine are outgrowing it, but still won't let me give the darn thing away. So, once in a while I am subjected to the insanity.


I am making cookies! I found a neat recipe in a new Christmas cookbook I got for Eggnog Spice cut-outs. I'm hoping DH loves them. Then, just as I was getting my dough ready, our neighbor's two girls came over with two plates full of cookies they just made! Wow, we're gonna be loaded... (not to mention my waistline ).

I have done no baking. DH is not happy about it either. He keeps seeing all the ingredients in the kitchen and making sarcastic comments about what they are for. (Paperweights, doorstops, etc.) I guess I'll be baking on Christmas Eve just to shut him up.

I haven't either but will probably pop some cookies in tomorrow afternoon. Mine are like round, flying missiles so watch out!

Wow, that sounds like DD and her play kitchen she had since she was 3. She wouldn't give it up for a looongg time, but she didn't even play with it. Finally she let me give it away when she was about 11.
