Congrats! That is great news. You'll be very close to LegoMom and me. And Disney, of course.

Hello all!

We went to the Taste of Pinellas this morning. It was hot, but still breezy. We tried out some yummy food for a good cause. St. Pete has one of the best children's hospitals in the country. Since my little one spent her first 10 days there, we try to help out when they have fundraisers. Plus, we get to try out different restaurants.

Sounds like ya'll had good day out. It's great that ya'll want to give back to that hospital. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the congratulations everyone. It will be nice being in Florida again.

On a random note I'm posting this in the car on my sister's iPhone. Technology is crazy!

Hello everyone! I'm back from my trip. I came home to an acceptance letter from Ringling college of art and design so it looks like I am heading to Florida to try and become a Disney artist!

Congrats, Anna! That is wonderful news!

Isn't it?!?

That's how I post during the week, except I have a Blackberry/crackberry.

Thanks Amanda! How are you and you're family doing?!

I am seriously considering getting one of those darn phones. I suppose I don't exactly NEEd one but hey, come on, they're pretty amazing.

I did not need it, but I love it. I understand why we have blocks at work, but I'm not in a classroom all day. They recently took the block off of my office computer, but not my classroom one. I had to beg them to do it there--I needed to look up directions to a workshop and Mapquest and AAA TripTik were both blocked because travel websites were blocked. They removed the travel website block from my IP address which in turn gives me access to Disboards. :rolleyes1 For some reason though, I have been too busy with the end of the school year to log on, though. I didn't even see my students the last two weeks of school because of my office work.

I guess there is no hope you'll be in Florida when I am there next month? Rats.

creativeamanda - you'll have to PM a rough schedule for your trip when you have it! I doubt I can get to a park again so soon (just went last Sunday!!) but if you plan to be at DTD or something, maybe we could get together then! It would be SO fun to meet you!!:goodvibes

Of course I'll be going to DTD. I'll pm that schedule to you. :goodvibes

I was just telling DH this week - I'm getting an iPhone when my contract is up this September. He asked why I wanted one so badly. I said so I can have internet wherever I go ... Duh!!!

Between the internet and the apps, I'm totally addicted to my iPhone.

CreativeAmanda, let me know your schedule too. If we're here, I'll try to join LegoMom for a meet and greet at DTD.

Good morning ya'll. It is an absolutely beautiful morning. :goodvibes I hope you all have an amazing day. :grouphug:

Morning, everyone!

Looks like we're all having a good weekend so far. Yesterday DH and I took DS to the library to pick out a movie, and can you believe none of us had every seen A Bug's Life? Boy, was that cute!

See, congrats on the college app being accepted! I remember art school (I have a BFA in painting) and it was one of the best times of my life. :goodvibes

I have a shameless plug for those of you who don't mind. A little surprise if you will.

A little explanation as to why I was so busy on Memorial Day weekend.

Just click here....

Unfortunately, no. But if I end up going to school there then i'll be there for four years!

...fantastic!
Thanks!

The only thing that's stopping me from accepting is the price. I mean I know art school is expensive but I can't believe how much I will owe in loans. :scared1: I will be paying them off forever. It's what I really want to do but I just feel so sick about the money

Ha. I'm sure she wishes that were so. Unfortunately, one of our souvenirs was a raging head cold for me, and bronchitis for her, so I know she's been MIA because she's sick. :confused3

I love Wall E! We just took DS to see UP today. That was a great film. I cried so much, I am such a dang sap. :lmao: It was great, we watched in 3D. A pretty penny for the tickets, but totally worth it.

Hon, I have a couple of things to say about this.

One, the price is always going to be staggering. I'll be turning 30 this year, and we are still in the process of paying of DH's student loans. My goal was to be debt free before 30, but it's just not going to happen. And the only reason for that is because I don't feel comfortable using our savings to pay off the loan in full, given the state of the economy. I'd rather have that cushion of savings in case something happens.

That being said, student loans s---. (I'm not allowed to say that word anymore since my four year old repeats everything, so I guess I'm having trouble typing it as well! :lmao:)

The most important, unromantic thing that I can possibly say to you as someone who went to art school and loved it but is totally not working in her intended field, is if you want it, do it, and make sure it's really, really worth it. For that amount of money, and for what I'm sure it will mean to you, make it worth your time. If it's your dream, do it, my dear. And I'd never thought I'd be so unromantic and so practical, but make sure by all means that you are full steam ahead on your goals, but also that you have something to fall back on. If you'd asked me when I was a freshman in college if I thought in ten years that I'd be a bank teller because we needed the health insurance, I'd have laughed in your face. Not because there's not honor in that, or I'm not proud of what I provide for my family, but this is so far from where I pictured myself, it is sometimes laughable. But that's life. And it's meant to be lived.

I'll never regret the life choices I made. Getting married and not jumping right into grad school to get a master's. I know I'll get one eventually, but I wanted to live life first. Unfortunately, life doesn't always go the way you want it, and the little eight year old living inside you who was dying to be a Disney animator? Well, sometimes, she takes a back burner to the woman who wanted nothing more than to be a good wife and mother.

I'm sorry I've ranted so long, but I just want you to know, if you want to go to art school, go. Make it the best you possibly can. Enjoy it. These years are few and precious and wonderful, and you can't go backwards. So if it's your dream, my dear, seize it. :flower3:

How does anyone pay for school? Seriously, ridiculous :sad2:

Wow, I really appreciate you taking the time to tell me that. I think that deep down I just can't justify paying that much. You don't have to spend buckets of money for a good education. I just opened a school letter today and my second choice art school (just as equally expensive) is offering me a full years worth in scholarship money. I'm going to take the offer! I'll end up borrwoing a third as much because of this.

Sheesh this is stressful!
