So there's a major chemical fire going on in my new city in Texas.....

DH just called the camp director but got his voice mail. The whole city has been evacuated (not mandatory but strongly suggested) and we're real curious where he's at and what's going on. Fortunately the camp is northeast of where this is happening and the winds are blowing to the south, but the director lives in town, not at the camp.

It's a fertilizer plant and the stuff that's burning is Sodium Nitrate.....nasty stuff. The fire fighters won't even send their men in to battle it - too dangerous. They'll let it burn out.

DH just spoke with him. They are spending the night out at the camp by choice, but their neighborhood was given the "ok" to return to their homes a short time ago.

He also said there was a nice sunset over "our" pond....

Anyhow, I guess you all can tell from the ticker that we have a December trip planned. Well, there's no backing out now--I got the MVMCP tickets yesterday and they are non-transferrable. So. . .we're actually going!

I actually want to make a ticker for the fall '10 trip but I'm askeered! (<-- hey, they moved the smilies again!...this guy was always on the first page but there's an angel there now!). I'm always afraid that if I make a ticker before actually booking the trip and putting down a deposit, I'll jinx it. And I'm not even superstitious!

Yes, sort of. I took three days off to study for a test. Did I tell you ladies I am going back to school? I need one stinkin' credit to start the core classes on the 24th. I am taking a CLEP exam in hopes of earning credits quickly. It is self study and the exam is Analyzing and Interpreting Literature. It's very hard to study for a Literature exam but I have to pass. Failure is not an option!!! The degree program is for a BS in Management. It is accelerated so I can finish in as little as 18 months. The only thing stopping me is one stinkin' credit. Arrrggghhh!!! So yes, I'm sort of having a nice day. How you durin'??

Good for you! I'm in the process of researching going back to school, so I can appreciate what you're going through taking that plunge! You'll be great.
