Every year I look forward to Girl Scout Tagalong cookies. I opened my first box today and the cookie is a little thicker, but has less peanut butter! How could they do this to me?! They have ruined the cookie. Now I taste the wafer part more than the peanut butter part. It is a true tragedy. :sad1: Has peanut butter gone up that much in price that they needed to skimp on it?

What?! I'm hoping that your area has a different baker than here, because Tagalongs are my favorites!

They did the same thing to the mint cookies several years ago. They used to have a wafer, a layer of mint, and then the chocolate. One year, they got rid of the layer of mint and substituted mint flavoring. Not nearly as good and we don't buy them anymore.

I'll be disappointed if the Tagalongs have changed. We like them too.

Are you sure they are Tagalongs and not Peanut butter patties?

Girl Scout Councils are all merging from like 315 councils to 105 councils. With this some councils are changing which bakery they get there cookies from. Either Little Brownie Bakers (who make Tagalongs) or ABC Bakery (who make peanut butter patties).

Also all the Girl Scout Cookies are now made with zero trans fats. So some of the texture and sizes have changed as well.

So you could blame the change on those people who complained about girls selling unhealthy cookies. I always said- it was a once a year thing and no one ever said gorge yourself on a whole box. But the health nuts won out on this one.

Thanks for supporting Girl scouts by the way.

here's the scoop - there are 2 official Girl Scout cookie bakeries, Little Brownie Bakers and ABC Bakers. They are supposed to use the same recipes, and make the same cookies although they use different names for everything except Thin Mints.

Our council used Little Brownie Bakers for many years, but in the last year our council was combined with several others in Iowa to make one new council. Everyone except my area has used ABC Bakers, and the new council signed with ABC.

We are currently taking orders for cookies and I am a cookie mom. At our training, we tasted cookies and the only one that is different in taste is the Peanut Butter Patties/Tagalongs. It is exactly what you described, the Peanut Butter Patties have a thicker cookie base and less peanut butter than the Tagalongs.

Here's a comparison list for the cookies

Little Brownie/ABC

Tagalongs/Peanut Butter Patties
Thin Mints/Thin Mints
Samoas/Caramel Delites
Trefoils/Shortbread
All Abouts/Thanks-a-lot (shape is different but they taste the same)
Dosidos/Peanut Butter Sandwich

ABC bakers has Lemonade cookies, I don't think there is an equivalent with Little Brownie.

ABC's new cookie this year is called Cinna-spins - they are in 100 calorie packs and taste like cinnamon teddy grahams. I don't know what Little Brownies new cookie is this year.

Who in the heck wants healthy girl scout cookies :lmao: . Our area is just ordering cookies now so we won't get them until March.

I just ordered 5 boxes last weekend from the girl I always buy from and her mom was telling me they were changing bakers, yet I still ordered 5 boxes I hope I am not disappointed.

Little brownie bakers has two new cookies this year in addition to the six mentioned in a previous post.

Lemon Chalet Cremes - which is a lemon creme sandwhiched between two vanilla cookies. I hear this is a great cookie.

Sugar Free chocolate chip cookie- well the name is self explanatory there.

One thing I noticed this year is that most of little brownie bakers cookie boxes have changed slightly. So I would suspect all the cookies to change a little even if not a different baker.

Our state always had a cookie consortium between the councils. They would use the same baker, price the same, and sell on same dates through out the state. So the merger didn't affect our cookie sell as much as it did others.

Is this an old cookie that they're bringing back? I could swear that they had those back when I was selling cookies ten years ago or so.

It sounds like we are getting the cookies from the other bakery this year then.
I guess I won't be tempted to buy extra boxes of Tagalongs this year, which is probably good since I don't really need to eat that stuff - but it was just so good before!

Little Brownies appears to have changed their "staple" cookies to the same production as ABC

IE the All Abouts are still called All-Abouts, but are now identical is shape/size to the thanks-a-lots. they are now round and smaller, but there are more in a pack. The cholate layer is a little thinner too. I actually did a side by side comparison at the cookie rally because our SU had some from last yr, and ose ofhte new ones.

I did notice a little diifference in some ofthe other cookies as well. the Samoas seemed just a little different.

Someone mentioned the chance in thin mints yrs ago.
I don't believe they ever had a layer of mint, but the cookie was not chocolate, it was about the color of a vanilla wafer and had a stronger mint flavor.

There was a vanilla creme for many yrs.
It almost seems like ABC might have had a lemon creme at one time.

I miss the lemon coolers. The Chalet cremes are OK, but no where near as good. I also miss the aloha chip

Glad to see the café' cookies gone. Those didn't sell well at all.

Oh bummer! Tagalongs are my fav and I ordered 19 boxes of cookies (to be delivered in March.) My plan is to keep only a few boxes for me and send the rest to DH (deployed to middle east) and I'm sure he won't notice a difference!

It still supports a great cause! :)

ABC up until last year, had a reduced fat Lemon Pastry Creme, those were really yummy! They replaced them last year with the Lemonades, ok, but not as good.

Funny how one man's trash is another man's treasure...
I will actually look at the ingredients now to see if I can buy some Girl Scout cookies for the first time in my adult life. I will not eat trans-fats or feed them to my son, because they aren't just bad for you, they are REALLY bad for you! That's why they're becoming illegal in some places...it's really a much worse health problem than you think. Honest! Anyway, I will check out the ingredients and if it's a go, I'll make some Girl Scout very happy with my order! :lmao:

The cookie bakers both have websites with the ingrediants listed there if you want to find out ahead of time if the ingrediants are safe for you. The last time I could eat the cookies was before any of the changes. Wheat allergies can be a pain.

To the person sending cookies to her husband. My youngest daughter's troop adopted a marine patrol that is stationed in Iraq.(The mom of one of the marines works with me) My dtr alone sold 3 cases to send to the guys. I haven't gotten troop totals yet.

There did used to be a lemon creme in the past. My oldest has been selling for 10 years and it was right before then. But every year we get people asking about them. My favorite lemon cookie they did was the lemon drop.

:woohoo: That's awesome! I'm sure the Marines will them!! Everyone looks forward to Girl Scout cookie time!!
