Tacky ad by RNC

I don't think he lied because he is black or that the bad republicans forced him into a lie.

Huh? Show me where I said he lied because he was black or that the bad Republicans forced him into it.

If you can't show me and the good folks here that I made those claims, please attribute them to your own flights of fancy and not my post.

Thanks in advance. :goodvibes

Are you being a smarty-pants or did I really misunderstand?

What did you mean by suggesting that he was saying something he knew not to be true because of the Republicans and the race card?

First, I'm always being a smarty-pants.

Second, all I did was suggest that it would be easier for Harold Ford, if he felt the ad was racist, was to keep it to himself because it isn't worth the grief of the Republicans whining about another black man playing the race card.

I'm speculating and conversating which is what we do here. I have no idea if, deep down in his heart, he believes the ad is or isn't racist and neither does anyone else.

I think you're reading more into it than is really there.

Or, he did believe it was racist, but the last thing he's going to do is give the Republicans another excuse to whine about a black man playing the race card?

Oh yeah, the old double cross!!

Now that's a stretch. Did it hurt? Smarty pants?

Nope, didn't hurt a bit. :goodvibes

McCain just showed that he is a typical republican by hiring as his campaign advisor the same slimeball who did the racist ad used against Harold Ford. http://electioncentral.tpmcafe.com/...r_of_harold_ford_bimbo_ad_as_campaign_manager
John McCain has signed up GOP operative Terry Nelson as his campaign manager -- yep, that would be the same Terry Nelson who produced the infamous, racially-charged "bimbo" ad attacking Dem Tennessee Senate candidate Harold Ford, Jr. ABC News reports that McCain's exploratory committee will announce the hiring of Nelson, a former top operative for Bush-Cheney '04, as "national campaign manager" later today. In honor of McCain's "get" in what many D.C. insiders are calling the "talent primary," we're reproducing the ad -- it features a gaudily dressed blond winking at the camera and saying, "Harold, call me!" -- that Nelson brought to the TV sets of families and children across Tennessee and subsequently the nation. It's here; more on this after the jump.

McCain enlisted Nelson as an adviser back in March, months before the bimbo eruption. But by putting out this ad, which provoked charges of racism across the country, Nelson made himself politically radioactive -- so much so that Wal-Mart dumped Nelson as a consultant after the controversy exploded. But Nelson's ad hasn't rendered him too radioactive for McCain, apparently -- McCain's essentially given Nelson a promotion.

It also bears mentioning that Nelson was mixed up in the money laundering scandal that brought down Tom DeLay, though he wasn't charged. It will be interesting to see how prominently all this figures in the coverage of McCain's "get."
McCain can forget about African American support and has showed that he is a typical republican.

It is interesting to see that McCain's new campaign manager is so sleezy that Walmart does not want to be associated with him.

McCain has bigger problems than his campaign manager. He came out yesterday against the proposals of the Iraq Study Team. That's going to be hard to explain to the center.

Here was my favorite part: McCain is acting all shocked and appalled that we don't have enough troops to send to Iraq. He appeared to be blaming Baker and Hamilton. Geez, neither Baker nor Hamilton have been directly involved in government for umpteenth years and were not paid for their time on the Iraq Study Group. OTOH, McCain's been sitting there through this whole war. I don't recall any big ideas coming from McCain during the last 3.5 years. But, now he's all spit and vinegar. Oh puhleeze.

McCain was better off retiring after 2000. At least his myth would still be intact.

And Lieberman's making all kinds of noises as if he's been right about anything to do with this war. If you're going to give advice, the least one could ask is that the person be good at what they're giving advice on.

IMO, it's going to be a bloodbath in Washington come January. People who will not be moved are going to have to be moved.

I got a real kick out of both Jim Baker and Lee Hamilton. I LOVED Baker's comment about the Cold War-he said something about how we negotiated with the USSR for years even though they had actual weapons aimed at us and had declared intent to use them.

Any study team that has Sandra Day O'Connor on it has got to have done something right IMHO.

I totally agree. The more that man opens the mouth, the less and less chance he has of getting a vote out of me.

I'm really concerned that nobody worth voting for in either party will make it out of the primaries. In order to get through the primaries, the R's have to be extreme right and the D's have to be extreme left. Since extremes in most anything annoy me, I think I'm in trouble...
