Tables in Wonderland

If you are going to purchase more than $375 in eligible food and beverages over the course of a year, yes.

Not every restaurant is eligible (most TS are, but most CS are not, and snack kiosks are not eligible at all) and the membership for an annual passholder costs $75, so you have to spend enough to recoup that in discounts.

They also black out the discount at most restaurants (some may allow its use anyway) on major holidays.

If you plan to eat out a lot, it sure is. It's a geat value for us and you can use it at some lounges, too.

Enjoy your trip.

:)

I purchased it for our trip earlier this month. I figured that if we were going to purchase $375 worth of food at participating restaurants, it would be a wash at $75 and any more would be a bonus. We had meals scheduled at Le Cellier, Sanaa, HDDR, Sci Fi, Crystal Palace, and some other places, plus we stayed at Pop for the first part of our trip and the food court there is a participating restaurant (even got 20% off of our mug purchase -- who knew!). It more than paid for itself. Also, I think they give you 13 months, not just a year.

We got one this year to try it out. We figure we will at least break even. Most likely we will see some savings with it.

It depends on your dining habits. Also are you comparing it to the DDP or just straight OOP? Somewhere in this you'll have to do some math, and at least guestimate how much you'll spend on food, and what your plans are for CS or TS.

To add TiW it will cost you $75. The discount is 20%. (I think it covers up to 10 ppl in your party.) The break even point is $375. Keep in mind the restaurants accepting TiW are mostly TS restaurants. Few CS accept it, mostly value resorts that only have CS restaurants -no TS. Also, I know Flame Tree in AK accepts it. (I only know this b/c we plan to try it.) So if you add it, will you spend at least $375 at TS meals? If so, it will probably be a good idea.

Now if you are holding this against DDP, you'll really have to do some math. For us, TiW will be better. It gives us more freedom to order what we want. Appetizers and alochol are not included on DDP, but will still count for the 20% discount with TiW. Also, the items we are likely to order, are not necessarily the ones (ie. the most expensive items) that would make DDP a bargain.

But bottomline- I think you'll have to do some of the work to determine if it's right for you. Sit down and look at the menus to figure out what you'll order, and how much you'll spend.

To echo the PP's do the math. Its the best way to see if it saves you money. If you figure $20 per person per meal, you only need to have about 19 meals on your trip before you break even. So a party of 4 adults would break even roughly 5 meals into the trip. If you do apps or buffets you hit that mark sooner. We did well with it last year. It paid for itself on the first trip (4 adults w/4 meals). We then had 3 other trips where it was pure profit. And two of these were at resorts where the food court took the TiW. As we don't come close to eating the type of meals in the numbers that the DP's offer, its not even worth it for us to consider that.

In the past my family (of 6) always went in august and got free dining. Two years ago though we finally made the decision to buy DVC/AP. This made us no longer eligible for free dining so after deliberating over whether to buy the dining plan or buy TiW we chose TiW. It was a great choice! We saved at all the TS restaurants we went to plus when we stayed at ASM for a few days we got 20% off the CS. And now that we have it, it is good for a year so as many times as we go we can use it. Well worth the $75 for my family :goodvibes

I would recommend. I believe the % is taken off the entire bill, so it also covers drinks. Add a nice bottle of wine to a TS dinner (Cali Grill for example) and the card is almost paid for.

Best "bargain" in all of WDW in my rather worthless opinion. We find that in one long weekend it pays for itself.
It gives us a lot more flexibility that the DDP ever could - and for signature restaurants saves us a lot more money that the DDP.

We love the TIW card. We eat about 1 TS a day so it pays for itself for us. I like being able to order whatever I want. Sometimes we will split meals or I will only eat an appy or dessert so the DDP doesn't work for us.

My only complaint with the TIW card is that you have to have an AP to buy it. Not sure we will be getting APs next years and we will miss having TIW.

Here, here! You just described us! :rotfl: Particularly why the DDP doesn't work for us. The only reason I even have an AP is to get the TiW to use at V&A - it almost pays for the difference between the AP & the 7 day PH, and the cost of the TiW in that one meal!

I have it for 3 years now and we love it. Getting 20% off most of some drinks in Epcot is nice. Also 20% off food courts at Pop and the All star resorts is great. We also eat a lot of sit down meals and character meals. Always pays for itself.

We are planning 3 one week trips in one calendar year. Even though there's just two of us, I think TIW would be financially beneficial to us, right? Any other couples with experience?

We have one. We like to order 1 or 2 appetizers for 4 of us, plus an alcoholic drink - all of that isn't included on the DDP. We came out ahead on one trip and we only ate out 4 times at TS.

We'll use it again in June on our 2 week trip, then again IF we go in November so we'll get 3 trips out of that $75 investment, Well worth it.

I'm not part of a couple, but I'll answer you, anyway!
I think if you eat at least one full service meal per day, you'll definitely come out ahead. The general break even point is spending $375 of eligible dining, and you probably can do that in one week of dining based on that.

The nice part is that if you order alcoholic beverages with your meal, you get the discount on those, too.

Any solo diners use it? I go to WDW several times a year, am not much of a drinker, but do prefer TS restaurants over CS. Would the TiW card be worth it?

I do! Well, sometimes my bff uses it to...but I love my TIW card! I'm not much of a drinker either, although on the rare occasions I want a drink, it's nice to have the discount. I just like TIW because the dining plans don't work for me. Even with the DDP, I usually end up feeling sick from too much food. I would never, ever eat dessert with every meal if I didn't feel like I "had" to because it's paid for. Also, it's pretty rare for me to eat two full meals a day. I know that's strange, but I work night shift, and it really messes up your eating habits. I'm much more of a snacker than a "meal" person. The TIW card makes it much easier for me to have one nice, sit down meal a day and just snack the rest of the time without feeling guilty about not "maxing out" my credits.
