I like to keep it simple. When we travel with my parents (5 of us, 2 of them) we just take turns paying the bill. If we do 5 table service we'll pay for 3 and my parents pay for 2. I always pick the 3 most expensive to be the ones we pay for. When we travel with another couple, with kids or without, we split everything down the middle. We don't carry cash so I just charge everything and give them a total when we get home. In June we'll be doing an adult trip, staying in the same room. Everything but souvenirs will go on magic bands which will be linked to one credit card. At the end of the trip we just split it down the middle.

The discount only applies to the amount you charge to the card. They don't "give" it to you; it's automatic. Were you trying to pay with another form of payment and expecting the discount on the total?

They do have the discount red card which is not a payment method, I think that's where this is confusing as that discount only card does not get the 5% off gift cards. Since they are all the same name it can be misleading if you dont' have the credit or debit red card.

I have no idea what you're talking about. The Target REDcard is the credit or debit card. There's no other "discount" card as far as I know.

There used to be and it's still valid. I want to say up to about 2 years ago if you really dug around the website you could still find it. I have one and I got it about 2 years ago. only recently did it stop working for gift cards.

Are you talking about the Pharmacy Rewards coupon? Those were valid on gift cards at one point, and then they were excluded. And then CVS took over all Target pharmacies and none are valid anymore.

There was originally a red card that was discount only, not a debit or credit card. You can't get them anymore and haven't used it in a year so no clue if it still works now.

This is the one they stopped allowing to be funded with credit cards, debit cards and gift cards.

People used to use it to churn money and earn airline miles/points on credit cards.

...My wife and I are DVC members and going again over New Years so we are getting the TIW card. ...Does anyone have any suggestions for them to be able to get the discount without having to just pay me back later?

As others have indicated, not without resorting to cash.

If you decide to pay for everyone with her paying you back, my suggestion would be that once the receipt is returned to you that you line item the receipt before leaving the restaurant. Then if both parties have a smart phone, take a picture of the receipt with the totals and email to her so both of you have a record of what was decided on for payment. This way she should not have a different total than you.

My cousin and I had many meals together during our trip put the charges to the room. Then, every couple of days, we would go down and pay the room balance off. She would pay first and then I would pay the balance. The only time we did not match on the balance was when I told her before we went in to pay that I thought I missed a receipt. Sure enough I found the receipt a couple of days later as I did not put it in the same place in the room as the others.
