Does anyone know if it is possible to use someone else's card? I have no experience with TIW, but I know someone who has a card. Do they ask for ID or something when you present the card?

Wish I was a Fl resident
Or a DVC member, or an annual pass holder. If your party is large enough, and you're staying long enough, it might be worthwhile to upgrade to an annual pass so you can purchase the TiW card.

But, as previously noted, the name on the card must match the name on the form of payment, and they can request ID, too.

I believe I've read here that if someone else uses a person's TiW card and is "caught," the card is revoked (from the card owner). Something to think about.

::yes:: And I can attest to this...on our most recent 2 visits, I was asked for my ID along with my TIW at every place I used it.

We've only been asked for ID once but I wouldn't risk losing the discount...we save a ton with it.

only place they asked for photo ID..was at the resort food court...we had table service restaurants and no one asked there...but like a previous posted said..I would not ever think of losing my tiw card...by letting someone else use it.

From what I understand, not only does the person on the card need to be present, but they need to be the one paying. So no one else can pay and no split bills.

Eva is correct, it has to be your card and you have to pay for it. My daughter and I were in Germany buying Caramel Corn and she was using her TIW card. She was asked for ID and she didn't have any small money so I was going to give her $10 to cover the cost and they said that she had to pay for it. So, I kept my money and they had to break a $50.

Yep, this is true. Technically, even the cardholders spouse can't pay the bill although I haven't experienced a CM being strict about that since we are always together in TS restaurants but I am sure it has come up for other people.

I would think that they would be stricter on this because they encourage spouses to buy their own card for another $50.

I am sure it's because we are together. It would probably go down differently if I tried to use it by myself (our current card is in his name).

Yep this is true too. And I second what Supersnoop said, if you are staying long enough (I think 10 days?) it might be worth upgrading to annual passes. We were originally planning on going to WDW this September and again next August. So we would have gotten annual passes and TiW and gotten 2 trips out of the purchases. So if you think you might go back again within a year, definitely look into it. We are going to Aulani next year instead, but we are still getting the TiW this year (DVC members). I actually went through all of the restaurants I wanted to eat at first and guessed on what we would order (we're vegetarians, so it's not hard to narrow down). I then calculated to see if TiW was worth it for us verses doing the DDP. For us it's definitely worth it this trip.

We have an AP and the TiW card is in my name. We stay at a Disney resort and use my MB to pay for the food. The credit card on the room is sometimes my card and sometimes my DH's card, but that has never stopped them from giving me the discount. The only time they have asked for photo ID was at the food court at Pop Century.

We have never been asked for id. But the card is in my name and in March I was sick for two nights of dinners. My husband used the card with my name on it and there was no issue. Also, we usually use a credit card with my husbands name on it when we go out to dinner and my TIW. Again no one has ever questioned it. But I would never allow anyone else to use the card.
