We're looking to buy a TIW card, but not sure when we should purchase it. We're going in December and then next June. Perhaps I've overlooked it in the information, but is a TIW card based on a fiscal year of purchase or first use date, or if I purchase now, will it only be good for the rest of 2010?

TIA

Actually it is good for slightly more than 12 months. If you were to buy one today, it would be valid through October 31, 2011.

Thank you both. Won't make a huge difference for our December trip (just the 4 of us), but I might as well get one, since June's trip will be at least 10 of us.

Following up on CF's post, someone just recently posted that when they bought theirs the CM recommended they wait one day because it was the last day of the month. They were told that it is good until the last day of the month, one year and one month from when you purchased.

So if they had purchased on August 31, it would be good until September 30 of the next year, but if they bought it on September 1, it would be good until October 31.

Whether that's accurate or not I don't know - but that's what was reported.

So the TiW card will way outlast my Annual Pass.

If I don't renew my annual pass, will I still be able to use TiW once my pass has expired?

Thanks!

I don't see why not. I don't think I was asked once for my AP when using the TIW card, they just wanted a photo ID.

I think I am going to pick up a TIW card in October when we are there. We will be going again in April and maybe again in late summer before our AP's run out. One question I have for making ressie's is this; I have made our ressie through DVC for our April trip, 7 months out. Will I be able to take advantage of the 180 day plus 10 for people staying on-site? Do I have to call or can I use the computer reservation system. I only ask because for once in my life I would like to eat at LeCellier, even if it is just for lunch. TIA! :cool2:

While we're on the TIW subject:

1. Is it true that there is no monetary advantage to a renewal fee versus just getting a new card? (Other than a time when you'd have no card).

2. For pre-pay dining experiences where there's a discount (e.g., Hoop-Dee-Doo and CRT) is the only way to reserve with TIW discount by phone (not online)?

TIA!!:)

We just got a TIW card on Sept. 10th and it expires Oct. 31st of next year.

None of our servers asked to see our APs when we paid with the TIW card or IDs either. The only place I was asked to give an ID was Yak and Yeti where I asked for an AP discount since they don't accept the TIW.

They used to have a lower price for renewal, but that was when you had to be a Florida Resident to buy one.

I didn't think / don't think you can get the discount on your pre-payment, but I could be wrong. When we used TiW for CRT for example, we just told our server and we got a credit back against the credit card we used to pay the pre-pay amount at the restaurant. But we still paid the full price upfront when making the reservation.
