It seems like I have posted this in the past after an early visit to SSR after they began refurbs and it got absolutely no traction. I'm hoping since the refurbs are moving on to other resorts now, maybe this is no longer the case.

Don't get me wrong. Most of the studio refurbs are beautiful, but without a table to work or eat at, they are losing a lot of their practicality for me. I work when I'm there. I have to. Not a lot, but I own a small business, and I can't simply turn things off when I leave town. I need a place to set up my laptop so I can work and not be in the way of the rest of the family while I do so. You can't even sit down with your wife at a table and have a bowl of cereal anymore. Hmmm... maybe that's a reason they did it?

Something has to be done. This is ridiculous. In a modern technologically driven society where everybody has devices they need to use and a place to use them, it is unfathomable to me that they have completely dismissed this fact in these refurbs. When I bought in, all the studios had a working table. By wall outlets. With wired internet connections. And yes, that really IS one of the reasons I bought in. I expect them in the room, and believe I am entitled to expect this.

Maybe they'll just remove the beds next to make room. After all, we could certainly sleep on the floor.

I'm not sure how my daughter sleeps on the Murphy while I work. Further, most times when I am working, they are still asleep.

Not a suitable substitute. At all. Maybe, MAYBE for a couple. But for 3 or more, no way.
While I understand what you are saying, I'll play devil's advocate and say that a studio room is not really geared toward a family for more than a couple of days, quite apart from a situation where one person has to work. Call me cynical as studios aren't really my jam, esp with 3 kids, but in my view studios are way too cheap points-wise and thus very high in demand for DVCers while not being terribly practical. To me a studio is a very basic, smallish hotel room. I get why people choose them since they are half the price of 1BR's.

While I get what they were going for, and personally, not a huge deal, but I think for families, it is and should not have been removed.

They replaced the beverage coolers back to mini fridges due to feedback so people should share this with them.

I wish I had thought about it in December for the meeting.

The 1 bedrooms have been removing the desks though as well. Yes you have the breakfast table but that isn’t the same as a desk

I was just thinking of this topic when glancing over at the CCV thread about the Murphy beds. Then it occurred to me that I think CCV is safe for now as the tables have only been disappearing in the full refurbs like BRV, SSR & BWV. They were left at PVB & VGF.

I think there would certainly be an outrage if they removed it from OKW as it only has beds and no couch.

Fair but in the 1BR then you could be using the coffee table desk while someone is in the room sleeping.

Same here. In order to afford DVC & Disney altogether, I have to work. 😂 It is my gift. It is my curse. But I at least need a desk setup or a table to do it while I'm there.

Do they not have a chair under the TV that can be used kinda like a makeshift desk? I use that at the moderates and some other hotels.

I like the new Poly Tower Studio and BLT refurb layouts - they remembered to leave somewhere to sit, unlike BWV refurb.

I think the breakfast table is a better option there as we would not have to disturb the people sleeping on the Murphy bed as much.

A year ago a number of us who stayed at BWV during/after the refurb started complaining about the lack of a table and chairs, even one chair. One lady on here complained while there and was able to get a chair brought to the room.

Meanwhile, since I constantly carry a folding regular height beach chair on almost all my travels, (I can't get up easily from the lower beach chairs) I've added my camping table, again a light folding aluminum slat table. It's the right height. Note: table has never been used for camping as I kind of got too old for that solo. I've solved my own problem and it has a nice carry case.

This really came in handy at Hilton Head over TG as it gave extra seating for our takeout turkey dinner. I won't need it on my February trip as we will have the 2 bedroom, but on my Hilton Head trip I didn't have the option of a larger room.

The BWV gave you two stools but you can’t reach your laptop from there lol

I guess they want you to pull them around to the coffee table.
The two stools were useless at Hilton Head. The 7 and 8 year old grands didn't even use them. They did use the open space where they were stored under the dresser area as a fort, complete with my beach chair to hold it up and a couple of blankets. They had so much fun! And I will never take them on a trip again where I don't have a larger room.....

edit: I should add the 'fort' was somewhat of a blessing. They sat in that little cave with their tablets and stayed quiet for quite a bit, instead of 'can we go to the pool?' Can we go see Chip n dale? Can we go 'insert any location'. They got to swim every day. They got to do all the activities and crafts, including Mickey Wreaths - an activity that requires an adult or someone older than 8 to actually make the wreath.

My DS can't wait until we redo the kitchen.

He will be in heaven with all of the boxes to build forts :)

The lack of a true table in the studios is really pushing me to 1 bedroom villas, among other reasons. Which isn't a bad thing.

I would take more trips with lesser accommodations. So long as those lesser accommodations are conducive to my needs, and according to the poll results thus far, I am not alone. I'm not going to 2 trips per year when I can comfortably do 5 with my points in a studio.

Again. A work table has always been integral to the DVC studios, and virtually any hotel room in the US. That shouldn't change for no apparent reason.

Especially since in some of the rooms where the table is going, they basically left blank space.
