Tables for two?

It appears that DH is not going to make our April 3-day cruise, leaving DS and me. We have previously cruised with our full family of four and always had a table for four. What are your experiences with a parent and younger child (he will be just shy of 10) and seating?

I am not particularly shy, but am a little apprehensive about being seated with strangers. (We have had a couple of negative experiences being seated with others for breakfasts.) Perhaps if we do have a problem we can deal with it since it is only three days, but...... :Pinkbounc

The only tables for 2 on DCL are in Palo's, so they won't be available for you and your son. You will most likely be seated with others.

Out of four cruises, we asked twice for a table for four but alone for just me and DH and were granted it only once.

There are not tables for 2, but if you tell DCL ahead of time (call them or have your TA do it), they will seat you at a table for 4 with just the 2 of you--the other 2 places will not be set.

If you don't state a preference, you will most likely be seated with other people. We've been seated as a party of 2 at least 3 times out of 12 cruises....the other times, we've been with tablemates. DCL does a great job of matching table mates--I have one daughter, and our companions always had a daughter within about 2 years of DD's age.
