We will not be on the dining plan when we go to Disney, so we'll be paying OOP for 2A/2C. Is it acceptable to make a reservation for our party of 4 and only the 2 adults order meals? We'd get the kids drinks, maybe a dessert. There are a couple of TS restaurants we want to try, but the kids menus don't appeal at all to my boys, so we'd feed them beforehand. ie) San Angel Inn.

Yes, you can do this, as long as the restaurant is not a buffet, all you can eat family style, fixed price or dinner show.

Yes you can do that at SAI.

As Nala said, it isn't possible at buffets or the all you can eat places but the others yes.

We had it happen by accident. We showed up and the kids started with the "nothing looks good" bit. So we ate real quick and got them pizza upon leaving. The waiters brought them drinks and didn't even charge us for them, and we were using the dp.

Or, you could not feed them ahead of time and then maybe when they get to the restaurant and are hungry enough, they will try something off the menu and discover they like it!

I definitely agree with this idea. Let them learn to experiment! I know when I was a child we never had macaroni and cheese at home, and any time we went out I was expected to order real food.

Does just the kids meal not appeal? Would they be ok with the adult food? Maybe they could order something to share?

I know my 8 year old neice shared some of the adults food on our trip because she is a child that is more likely to order a steak (medium rare even!) then chicken nuggets and would rather have a salad then french fries.

Also, i have found that even if there is nothing on the menu, if you ask your waiter for something they will try to accomidate as best they can. Example is my son hates tomato sauce or any sauce on pasta. He likes it plain and will only eat it that way. At most places they serve some sort of pasta dish, so they can just scoop him a plate of macaroni before they add anything to it. I have never had an issue of them doing this. they usually only charge me a kids menu size since they will serve it a kids menu portion. Also, It might be worth your while not to feed your children before you go, and maybe there will be something off the adult meals they like, and let them split that.

Thanks for your replies! Great idea to feed them after just in case they are hungry enough to "surprise" us with their eating choices. You never know!! :goodvibes
