If you are on the dining plan, does everyone in your party have to use a TS credit or can you share a meal? For example: at 50's Primetime if DD & I want to share the fired chicken dinner and DH gets his entree, will they allow us to do this and only be charged the 2 table service or do we all 3 have to use a table service and not allowed to share? Hope this makes sense!!!
TIA

I think the rules are you can only share with people that are on your dining plan. So if that is right then yes you can share.

My sister and I shared a meal at Kona one night of our trip. Then we used the left over TS credit to get two full breakfasts from the hotel food court before we left for the airport.

We were told with a TS at a QS we got two entrees, two drinks, and two bakery items.

Last year, my son wanted to share a meal with me and eat something other than chicken nuggets, and it wasn't a problem with the restaurant at all. We used the extra meal for my son before we left for the airport.

The dining plan rules state "no sharing". You'd probably find servers who will let you get around that rule, especially for kids. But you may have some difficulty sharing meals between adults or older kids on the dining plan.

I wanted me & DD to share at some of the TS meals simply b/c I do not want her eating chicken nuggets and hamburgers at every meal, she's 7, so still a child on the dining plan!!! Thanks everyone!!!!!

One sharing they do encourage, however, is for children under 3.

;) because you aren't paying for the kids under 3 to be on the dining plan. There were times I bought my 9yr old an adult meal, and used my "kid's credit" for my 2yr old... because she eats that much! :rotfl: While I would have loved to have had credits for her each day, we did have more than enough food for the trip, with only a little out of pocket expenses (as in less than $50).

We have a "just turned 2" who eats like an adult...but they wouldn't let us even add a dining plan for him :(

Stinks, doesn't it. I wonder if you agreed to purchase a park ticket, they would have let you. I didn't think about it for us, but we might could have done that since our PIN was for "kids eat & play for free" so I wouldn't have had to purchase her park ticket as well. She certainly didn't look like a 3 yr old, however!

I should add to my previous post that my twin sister and I are clearly adults and the server at Kona told us it was no problem to split a meal. Then we both agreed on the desert and split that too.

You can share BUT not at buffets, or family style restaurants and for some reason Beaches and Cream over at BC resort does not allow sharing entrees on the dp.

Thanks, this is what I was thinking of. At 50's primetime, if you order the fried chicken, you get 3 pieces of meat and mashed potatoes and veggies. I can't eat all of that. So I thought for that dinner, DD7 and I could share that entree and have more than enough food. Then at Crystal Palace, she could use her TS and I could pay out of pocket for DH and myself, instead of all of us using both of us using our TS at 50's Primetime and wasting food and then having to pay for everyone out of pocket at Crystal Palace. (We have 1 more TS scheduled than we actually have to use) Does this make sense and will it be possible?
TIA

You *may* get a server who will allow you to share. But you *may* get told that it isn't allowed.

I completely understand what you'd like to do and why, but if WDW let everyone share meals on the Dining Plan, then there would by a lot of folks booking extra TS meals, tying up the tables, and sharing meals which would cost WDW money (the tables would be tied up but fewer meals would be sold).

So, it's a nice idea to save you a few dollars, but don't be disappointed if it isn't allowed.

BTW, I hate all of the terrible food offered for children's meals at WDW. For my kids, I encourage them to eat the healthier options, when they're available. And, although we get each of the kids their own meal, we do share/trade food from our plates. For instance, the kids have to get a dessert off the children's menu. But we'll usually end up sharing some of our adult desserts with them also.
