Table Service dining with big eaters?

We will be traveling with two older teenage boys who could probably eat the side of a barn at any meal. Can anyone recommend some table service restaurants that have good-sized portions, but not break the bank?

I already have a couple of buffets booked, but even that's been a little difficult as we don't want to do characters. Any suggestions here would be appreciated as well (I have Boma and Biergarten already).

Thanks!

'Ohana might be a good choice because although it's not a buffet, they will bring you as much as you can eat. At least that's how it was years ago when we were there. We weren't too impressed with the food, but it is a popular restaurant and your family might enjoy it just fine.

50's PTC gives you 3 pieces of fried chicken plus the sides with their chicken dinner. Their other entrees (meat loaf, pot roast, etc) are equally as large.

Yak n Yeti may be more pricey than you want but their entrees were big enough to feed 4 people, IMO (which equates to one teenage boy).

Cape May at Beach Club does a seafood type of buffet for dinner, no characters.

I know you said that you didn't want character meals, but as far as a good buffet... Crystal Palace has really good food and a good selection. It does have characters but in our experiences there, if you don't have small children or act interested in pictures or autographs, the characters will just wave and walk on. They won't bother you during the meal at all. Just a suggestion because I love their food there! :)

'Ohana
Tusker House buffet - dinner has no characters (I think)
50's Prime Time Cafe
Whispering Canyon Cafe (the skillet is all-you-can-eat). I have to add that I'm listing this one because you asked about quantity, not quality ;).
Hoop Dee Doo Revue (all-you-can-eat dinner show AWESOME! Yes, it is expensive, but includes a night's worth of entertainment, alcohol and tip)
Though I've never tried it, I have also heard wonderful things about Trail's End Buffet at Fort Wilderness. Delicious food and very fairly priced. I believe the kitchen is shared with HDDR.

BTW, Boma and Biergarten are great choices!

I've heard good things about Trail's End over at Fort Wilderness. I believe they have really good size portions and it is reasonable priced.

I say Whispering Canyon Cafe. We love the food and the all you can eat BBQ skillet, DH just loves that. I think the boys would like it, no characters but the servers do antics and get loud and sometimes rude, the boys may enjoy that as well. LOL

Another vote would be for Ohana. The food is so good and all you can eat family style. They have a variety of meats to satisfy all tastes. So that would be another I would definitely do.

Liberty Tree Tavern dinner was served family style too, so it was all you can eat. We really enjoyed it.

OH, you have garbage disposals too??? My DS13 will eat anything that doesn't eat him first!

Last December we went to Trail's End. It was awesome. Pizza, fried chicken, and Macaroni and Cheese are my DS's favorite foods! Plus they had his favorite, Root Beer. I've been told we will be going back there every visit :)

50's the portions are huge!

At Kona our portions were pretty big too.

I would definitely recommend Ohana as they bring you never ending meats on the stick and shrimp too!
Also if they are fried chicken & rib people, Trails End at Fort Wilderness is a pretty good buffet. The only one that serves fried chicken

I've heard good things about Trail's End over at Fort Wilderness. I believe they have really good size portions and it is reasonable priced.

Trails End is a buffet (no characters) so you don't need to worry about portion sizes. It is also the cheapest buffet at WDW.

I would suggest:

Trail's End
Liberty Tree Tavern

Both are all you can eat and are resonably priced (if I remember correctly)

Ohana's might be another option as well

I would suggest
Whispering Canyon Cafe Skillet
Ohana's we love this place and it is all you can eat
Liberty Tree Tavern dinner it is served family style.

Ohana gives you a ton of food served family style. We couldn't believe how much food they gave us and it was delicious.

Thanks for all the replies! I had forgotten about Trail's End...that may be worth the trek over to FW, and I've always wanted to try Liberty Tree. One of the boys is a seafood lover, so Cape May might be another good choice.

I'm off to research menus!!

Thanks again :cool1:
