What do you prefer? (Fantasmic doesn't matter b/c we won't be watching it that night.)

50's Prime Time Cafe all the way! We had such a great time and the food was really good too. Our waiter was hysterical. This is a must stop place for us!

We eat at 50's Prime Time every trip:thumbsup2 We are trying Hollywood & Vine in Dec. :cool1:

Although it has been getting a lot of good and bad reviews, we would say Mama Melrose. We have had two really good meals here. Prime Time would be our second choice. We would definitely not recommend Hollywood & Vine; and we did not like Brown Derby although many people do.

Yes, definitely not Hollywood and Vine. Wait was way too long and that was with reservations. Food was nasty. Dirty tables too. Steer clear of this one. I think that was the worst restaurant in all of Disney!

We love:thumbsup2 Hollywood and Vine. The food was great, with some delicious pasta and fish dishes. The restaurant was spotless and the chracters were lots of fun.We go every time. :goodvibes
Brown Derby was also excellent. You walk in from the heat at MGM and immediately feel relaxed. Service is great and the food is yummy, fresh and well prepared.:thumbsup2

We loved it so much that after our first dinner there... we called and cancelled our ADR for Sci Fi and took the only opening they had (for our next MGM day a couple of days later). Yummy! We all had the steak both times by the way... cooked to perfection for each of our liking. Besides the good food (and my son and hubby loved  the Peanut Butter & Jelly shake by the way), the decor and characters are delighful. We had an "aunt" the first time and "mom" the second. They were both wonderful! Mom even gave us homework while we waited for our meals to come amd Auntie made my hubby wear a bib! :goodvibes It is a great time, for the young, the old, and everyone in between!

If you look at my signature you can probably guess what I am going to say. Yes I am biased towards the Brown Derby but I also think that Mama Melrose is a great place to eat. The food at the Derby is not for everyone, plus it is expensive. However they do have some very good dishes. The Cobb salad to me is to die for. Mama's also has good food and the place smells divine because of the oven they use to cook their pizzas.

I would steer clear of Sci-Fi. The atmosphere is really neat and original but the food is very blah. Prime Time is also nifty if you like have servers tell you to keep your elbows off the table and to spoon feed you mashed potatos. Don't laugh it happned to me.

Hollywood and Vine is a mixed bag. I have heard great things about it and I have heard bad things about it. If you like character dining and Playhouse Disney then give it a try, if not then you might want to steer clear.

We ate at the 50's Prime Time Cafe for lunch and Sci-Fi for dinner and really enjoyed both.

The food was great at both places, and we'd eat at both again. If I had to choose, I think I liked Sci-Fi better.

Our favourite by far is the Brown Derby, but we also like the Prime Time Cafe & Mama Melrose. They are very different, so it depends on what kind of atmosphere you want. The atmosphere at the Sci-Fi is terrific, and every child should probably experience it at least once. I think we went there three times before the girls opted for food quality instead.

I think we are the only ones who didn't enjoy our experiance with
50's Prime time Cafe".
There is only 3 of us and because of that we have to be seated
in the same booth as strangers who we have to pretend are related to us.
Our Cousin Waitress had a heavy accent that we could not understand her.

We came away with a headache and will never do that place again.
If you like dining with strangers who you don't like, that's the place for you.
This could also give you a true experiance of family member who you don't like to be around.

I am following this thread because I can maybe find a different restaurant
that we could try for our next years trip.

50's Prime Time is our top choice at MGM. We've always enjoyed it there. Food is delish, service has always been good, and the place is fun. Our second choice is Sci-Fi. Never had a bad meal there.

We do not like the menu at the Brown Derby, MM was very bland food, H&V was horrible and we have not been able to get a ressie at Sci Fi so I guess our fav is the 50's Prime Time and the awesome fried chicken

Wow, I've never heard of them doing that, seating you with strangers, at the 50's Prime time Cafe!

I've only eaten at one TS restaurant in MGM and it was absolutely horrible. That was Sci-Fi Dine-In. In fact, I wouldn't even consider this TS. While the atmosphere was great, the food was literally inedible. If I were you, I'd try some place else. I can't really give you a recommendation as this is the only place I've had the displeasure of dining at. I'm going to follow this thread though to see if there are better places in this park.

50's Prime Time for us, hands down. We have some very picky eaters and everyone loved the food. The service was great and the atmosphere was so much fun :rotfl2:
We have eaten at Mama Melrose but had to wait so long for our ADR (more than an hour) it took away from the experience. I also heard they were closing this TS and moving it to MK but not sure of the rumor is true.
DSis just came back from WDW and she loves Hollywood and Vine normally but this time around she said they walked out hungry because the food was so bad they couldn't eat it.:sad1:

We did both 50's Prime Time Cafe and Sci Fi on our last trip. We really weren't a fan of the food at 50's PTC. The experience was so-so. But it was more of us watching other people/servers because our waiter just wasn't into it.

We liked the food at Sci Fi...it's nothing fancy and different, but we thought the food was fine. My DF loves the experience at Sci Fi.

On our next trip we're going to Sci Fi again, and we are doing Fantasmic and Mama Melrose. So this will be our first time eating at Mama Melrose.

I wasn't to pleased either, I think it was because there were only 3 of us
and the place was super packed.
We had to wait about 40 minites after our ADR time to get seated.
Plus whenever our name was called they also called the other family
and we all were following the one who seated us.
I didn't think much of it until they showed us where to sit.
Awkward!! :upsidedow
