Table for two? No soup for you!

Just confirmed with WDW rep that tables for two went away at lots of restaurants, reasons unknown (to the person I talked to). You have to reserve 3 and then modify to 2. My guess is that they weren't making enough $$$ with two guests at a 4-person table. Whatever, Disney.

I check for two, but if I need to book for 3 or 4 I do. It's really not a big deal, a few clicks.

Interesting. We are usually just two and don't really have issues with booking ~ although we likely aren't going for some of the toughest ones to get.

It really isn't that big of a deal IMO. It's not like restaurants ban parties of 2 guests. There are just extra hoops to go through when making an ADR. Annoying? Yeah. But something to get mad about? Not really.

Also if the CM you spoke to was on the phone, you can pretty much disregard whatever they said. The phone CMs are notorious for giving out blatantly false info.

I'm assuming it's less about making money and more that they likely found guests were using 4-tops at a higher rate than 2-tops so they modified the seating plans to reflect current demand.

(says a person who travels solo often or with just her partner as a twosome).

Solos have been dealing with this for years. Availability magically opens up when you switch your search from 1 to 2.

Have been at WDW twice in the last four months, had no problem booking anything we wanted as a table for two at 60 days.

I tried for both Ohana and Le Cellier the entire week of May 4th -- no times for two, loads for 3+. The CM I spoke to on the phone also did it on his end to confirm and then said that they did apply some new reservation systems to certain restaurants.

Couldn't get the time we wanted for 1900 Park Fare breakfast so booked it for 4, figuring I could then modify to 2 (as I have several times at other hard to get restaurants). But, for some reason it won't let me modify to 2 and keep the time I have. Still wants to give me the lousy options I had when I searched originally for 2. I'm going to keep trying to modify before our trip but it may just be a "day of" adjustment.

I'm not putting much stock into one phone cast member's opinion on WDW shrinking tables of 2 availability. I'll wait for people to go to places like O'Hana who say "man, they got rid of most of the 2 tops and replaced them with 4 tops".

And honestly, 2 tables of 2 close together is probably more profitable than a table of four at a place like Ohanas. Statistically 2 tables of 2 are more like to be 4 adults (drinking age and adult prices) compared to a table of 4 it's 50/50 it's 4 adults or 2 adults and 2 kids.

You don't have to put stock in opinions... you can simply see it for yourself by trying for Ohana on May 26th right now. 20 dinner time slots for party of 3, zero for party of two.

I did a search from the 22nd to 27th. I see there are more tables for 4 than 2....and agree the tables of two are pretty much non existent. But the tables of four are mostly 11am bfast and then the 335pm and 9pm dinners. My guess is this restaurant is still one people get on at 6am 60 days or 60 + 10 and book first. I just think it's still extremely in demand and you need to book when the window opens.

If you really want to be annoyed search for a party of 6....great availability if you want to bring the inlaws and a couple cousins

This was the case for me for my trip in May, even booking for 60+ days (staying for 8 days). At popular places such as Ohana and Le Cellier and Via Napoli even, there would be no tables for 2 or very few like at 10pm. By switching to a party of 3, it would list times all night long every 15 mins. I booked what I wanted then modified them all to 2. Very stupid way of having to do it.

As a family of 3 we've dealt with this for years. We've often had to book a table for 4 as there would be nothing available for 3. It's never been a problem. We tell them it's just 3 of us when we check in. No one bats an eye.

Agreed. Disney should remove the option to modify your reservation. Make you cancel and rebook with the correct guest count.

This is unlikely to fix anything, since checking in with a party of two for a ADR booked for three has never been a problem. Don’t modify the reservation and just change to the lower count at check in.
