Table for Humina, Humina?_____completed! 7/30

Ahh, the timeless joy of a food review written with a spark of genuine humor and wit... Delightful !

(Lisa: "Scanning for sarcasm... It's clean !" )

We await your next syllable with great eagerness...

Thanks for taking the time to write a great review.

Thanks so much!:goodvibes

I work for booze ... premium booze. :rotfl2:

Loved the CHH review ... the hubby and I often lunch there because it's one of the few places that still offers a tuna salad sandwich. Yum.

And you mentioned tribbles ... is there nothing you can't do? :thumbsup2

We'll see... Set your phasers to fun!

I'm loving your reviews :thumbsup2 Very funny and you've promised booze so I'm in :jumping1:

Thank you for reading! So far the only booze was in my first review at Raglan Road, but there is more to come.

Hey! You were sitting in MY SPOT at Columbia Harbor House!
Well....I guess since I haven't been there since October, I suppose I can allow you to sit there. :rolleyes1

I used to get the best of both worlds: 1/2 tuna sandwich with the chowdah. They don't do the combo anymore, dang it. I'm hungry now.

Glad Brenda pimped your report. Signing on for the ride. Great reviews so far!:thumbsup2

True story- Where I grew up there was an intersection at 69th & Pleasure. The Jersey Shore is a silly place!

I am from NJ too, not the shore area though, but I spend a lot of time there. I live near Princeton now. Where did you grow up?

"The Friendies are coming! The Friendies are coming!":rotfl:

Hi! We also have jujyfruits in the back if your popcorn runs out.

I'm a Junior Mint friendie myself... but, thanks!

Yet another friendie here! Bendy was one effective pimp, wasn't she? Love your reviews so far--but I have to admit my brain must have been on pause when I saw your Handsome Pete comment at Raglan Road. I thought, "Can Brenda's cat dance? And how does this person know that?" :rotfl:

So effective that I think she might want to consider a career change! And I'm with you....the first thing I thought of when I saw the Handsome Pete comment was about Brenda's cat as well.:lmao:

I was just keeping your seat warm for you, I swear! It must be the official "Sleeping Beauty Fanclub" chair. And I miss the combo too. They have such good tuna there!

I grew up in Ocean City, NJ- America's Greatest Family Resort! The afforementioned intersection is in SeaIsle though. You don't get frisky intersections in a dry town like OC.

I do believe that they both take cash... :thumbsup2

Disney Dollars?:rotfl:

I'm a Junior Mint friendie myself... but, thanks!
I want Junior Mints!
Did anyone else "hear" that robot's voice from the Chi-Chi's commercial???? :rotfl2:

I see I'm going to have to expand my pantry to keep everyone happy...

That is a great cat name, I had no idea! It's just that he (the cartoon character, not Brenda's cat) jiggs and is such a weird little thing that he's always been referenced by my brother and I.

Don't forget the platform shoes with goldfish in them....:rotfl2:

I think we're planning her MNSSHP outfit; DisPimp!:rotfl2:

After hanging out in the MK I made my way to EPCOT for the evening. I had a 5:05PM reservation at the Biergarten.

I stopped at Club Cool on my way to WS to refresh myself.

the dreaded Beverly
DSCI0089.jpg

I actually like the Beverly. I'm not saying I wanna go down to my local 7-11 and get a Big Gulp's worth, but it doesn't really bother me. I really like bitter flavors though- I have been known to chow down on 85% cacao chocolate, my favorite vegetable is brussel sprouts, and I only drink my coffee black. So yeah, I can see the appeal of this beverage. Maybe it's because I'm 25% Italian to boot.:confused3

I wandered WS and did miscellaneous non food related activities until it was time to check in for my ADR.

Germany: land of chocolate and pickle trees

I didn't have much of a wait time, maybe 3 minutes. I was sat on the bottom tier at an 8 top with a family of four and a couple.

DSCI0132.jpg

The family was totally into their own thing, and I could tell they were miffed about being at a table with other people. The couple I think felt like they had to talk to me, because the other family was basically creating a new Berlin Wall between our group with the drink menus and their backs turned to us. The couple I think felt bad for me because I was alone, but they were shy so didn't really want to interact. They were all "Oh, how sad you are alone." And I was all "Don't feel sad for me, my Spouse is at home right now scooping cat litter and eating Carl's Jr". he likes to multitask

While this was going on the band was already performing and we had to literally shout our drink orders at our waitress.

they're kind of dressed like Spongebob
DSCI0133.jpg

I ordered a glass of wine, and because I look like a 16 year old, I already had my ID ready. She seriously spent like 2 solid minutes examining my ID. I thought she was going to call in Columbo to question me or something. Seriously Frau- California ID's can't be faked! My Nana was slipping me wine in Gingerale when I was in gradeschool. there's something my Mother doesn't know

So eventually I get my ID back and I am able to get my drink:

oh sweet zombie jesus this is good
DSCI0139.jpg

The drink menu lists this as: Reisling QbA Rudi West- Rhein River, Rheinhenssen- Lively, Crisp, flavors of Aples and Pears.

I had 2 glasses. Reislings are always kind of sweet, and I don't like to eat really sweet things, but I don't mind drinking them in wine form. The food here is more meaty/savory so it was a nice balance. This wine was $8 a glass. The last time I was here I got another Reisling that was $11 and had peach undertones- that one is also a good choice here.

I attempted to get pictures of the buffet, but it was really busy. Instead, please enjoy this picture of a guy with an impressive horn:

Here's my first plate. The photo of my second plate did not turn out at all. I still wasn't used to my new camera at this point.

i don't think vegetarians should eat here
DSCI0138.jpg

Alright, starting from 12o'clock we have: wurstsalad, bean salad, roast chicken, wurst w/ kraut, roasted potatos, meat of some kind, schnitzel, cucumber salad, tomato salad, and herring salad.

I got another plate with: salmon, carrots, mashed potatos, pretzel bread, more schnitzel, and brawts.

This is hardly a gourmet experiance. It's a lot of pretty good German food, the kind I would get when I went to potlucks in New Jersey. My favorites of the evening were the schnitzel, tomoto salad, and brawts & wurst w/ kraut. The last ones are mostly because I am the only person in my entire family who like sauerkraut so I never get to eat it. I made it once in High School and I thought my Mom was going to die she was so disgusted with the process.

I forced myself to get one of everything at the dessert bar. You know, for research purposes. I wanted you all to be highly informed when making your dining decisions.

On the far left is vanilla pudding w/ chocolate jimmies. Clockwise on the plate starting at the top we have: Black Forest cake, Bavarian cheesecake, apple struedel, and florentiner (an almond cookie thing).

I liked the cheesecake the best, but I'm a cheesecake kind of gal. The pudding was too sweet, kind of fake tasting too. The black forest cake was also good but sweet, so if you like sweet I recommend it. The apple struedel was one of the last pieces before a new one was brought out so I didn't get the best piece.

If you like German food, you should give this place a go. Naturally they also have good beer. I have eaten here solo three times and it doesn't really bother me. I've had friendly single serving friends, and well... the peeved family I had on this trip. I make my own fun so either way I'm happy.

As for family dining- as a child I looooooooved eating here. I have always had very adventurous tastebuds though, I was never a 7 day a week chicken nuggets kind of kid. They do have a really tame kids buffet here with the usual Disney fare for picky kids. I think it's a good option for familys to try out because it's going to be noisy anyway.

On my way out I stopped at the wine bar and got a wee glass of some really sweet dessert wine. I didn't take a pictre of it in the glass because there was a lot of people around, but I snagged a shot of the bottle:

I was once again given the evil eye over my ID. I actually kept track on my vacation about who carded me and do you know who cards me? The ladies. Guys will just pour me out whatever I want.

Next update: A booze break!

Your report is cracking me up. I love your purple comments :lmao:

Also...I'm glad you call them jimmies. I call them that and my boyfriend gives me the evil eye.

I'm glad you like the review.:goodvibes

I live in CA now, and no one calls the jimmies. After about 3 years I have adapted to be able to refer to them as "sprinkles" but it just feels wrong. I will always pronouce water as "wooder" though, until the day I die!:rotfl:

Thanks for taking one for the team and filling your dessert plate! Much appreciated :flower3:

Here in the armpit of the midwest they are sprinkles ... :rotfl2:

BTW ... although I know that Jay and I will never eat at the Biergarten I enjoyed your review. I especially liked the picture of the dude with the amazingly long horn.

I would have captioned that picture:

Are you glad to see me or is that a horn in your pocket? ;)

Ocean City is really nice even though it's a dry town. I have vacationed there several times. Sea Isle is a really fun place. I lived down there for a summer while in college and have also vacationed there a bunch of times. I do remember Pleasure Ave now -- when I read your email about that intersection it was so familiar but I just could not place the town!

I don't usually go that far south anymore, especially for day trips. About the furthest I go is Long Beach Island -- I'll be there next weekend :thumbsup2

Sprinkles here too!!!

& I just kept thinking of the Ricola commercial...

I grew up in Park Ridge then moved to Mahwah (both Bergen County...) and I used to go down the the Highlands where my grandparents had a bungalow...
