I was just wondering if it is rare to get a table for 3 people by themselves. It isn't a big deal, but we would like to dine with just our family. Thanks:D

We did and really enjoyed it. We were plenty social at other events but dinner was nice family time. Call and request, cant hurt.

My family of 3 would rather be by ourselves, too. I've requested it twice and never got it. Both times we've been placed with another family of 4. This past cruise I tried to change our table immediately when I got onboard, but had no luck.

The other families have always been nice enough, but it still makes dinner more work and less fun.

It's especially hard if you don't get to the table first. On this past cruise, the other family always got there early and sat on one side of the long table. This forced us to sit in a row on the other side of the table. We put our young son in between us. As a result, my husband and I were never able to really have our own conversation. It would have been nice if both families could have had an end of the table. That way we would have had the option to converse as a table or just as a family.

OH bummer we don't mind sitting with other families though. It's nice to meet new people.

Just wonder if you ask to sit with strangers at restraunts in your hometown to CGBatch?

I agree with the opening post.............we would rather just enjoy each other's company while we are away from the "real world".::yes::

Well we no I don't ask to sit with strangers but we've really never had a promlem with them. Our last 7-day we had this nice family from LA and we talked like sports the whole time oh and the Govenor elections back then.

I too have requested a table for ourselves on our upcoming 3 nighter. We have the late seating so hopefully we will get it.

I feel as though we are on OUR vacation and I really don't want to spend my dinner feeling as though I have to make conversation with another family. I want to be able to discuss anything I want to with DH.

We are rebooking onboard for a 7 night Dec cruise which will be our anniversary celebration, and I will request then too to be seated by ourselves....

I posted a question not long ago asking if you requested the smaller dining table did you get it and not many responded at all...so I am not sure what will happen!

We feel the same as most above, would prefer a family-only dinner time. We've requested a table on our own through the TA. When do you find out if you got it or not? Do you think it's more likely that we would be successful here since we're a family of 4 (early seating)?

Last year we requested a table to ourselves (3 of us). As soon as we boarded we went to the place listed in the Navigator for dining changes. We were placed at a table of 8 or 10 (can't remember which). I politely asked if it were possible to change to a table of 4. He offered 6, but I politely asked again and he managed to juggle the tables so we were seated with just us. What ended up happening was they took a table of 8 and moved them slightly apart. We aren't antisocial or anything, its just that life is so crazy most of the time, this is a good opportunity for us to reconnect as a family.

budwmn, I hear what you are saying about getting to the table first. What I did on our first cruise was to sit opposite my husband with my DD next to me. We were at a table for six. I figured this would give an opportunity for both parties to talk to the other family and to their own family. My husband thought it was a big breach of etiquette though. But it worked.
