Table for 14! An October 2015 Dining Report - UPDATE Wolfgang Puck Express

Please drop everything else you're doing in your life and finish your reviews. I have a profound need for several of the unfinished ones. ;)

Wonderful reviews, seriously. These are helpful since I have a lot of the same meals planned and we've never been.

The Tea Party looked absolutely perfect, what a wonderful memory for you and Maddie to share :)

So cute! I haven't seen any reviews on the tea party other than yours - it looks like so much fun! One of those special things you'll remember forever :)

Loving your report, especially your review of the princess tea party! Having three grandsons 3, 2 & 1, I'm wondering if I'll ever have the opportunity to do something like this someday! Your daughter is adorable!

Do it! :-). I think if little princes attend they get a Duffy bear instead of the doll.

I just found your report. Great so far! What a crowd you were with, I hope that was a fun as I imagine it was.

I had a question about your TH dinner but cannot remember what it was, lol. But that's because your comment about the value of the tea party made my eyes tear up. You are so right about spending time with our girls.

Looking forward to the next installment, and should I remember the TH question I had, I'll ask!

There is a lot of value in parents giving some one-on-one attention to their little girls, making them feel special, and boosting their self confidence, and this experience succeeded in doing that.

Let me know if you remember. I'm glad my ramblings about why the tea party is valuable made sense :-)

I wish I could. I have a really stupid job that takes up all my valuable Trip and Dining Report time.

I'm glad you enjoyed it! I think the lack of reviews on the Tea Party is because it just isn't very well known. It was definitely special though!

I do, however, think the experience as a whole was worth Maddie skipping a birthday party and participating. The live performance from Rose Petal, the pianist playing the songs you request, being able to drink tea from a real tea pot, the character interaction, and the yummy food were all factors. It was a morning Maddie will always remember, and it has been the thing she's talked about the most since we've been back.

I would've loved this as a little girl. So many of my memories of the things that were truly magical from my childhood likely looked like this to an adult (decent food, cheap trinkets, potentially questionable value). But in my child's mind I'd met a real princess and had a real fancy tea.

This was a great review. If I had a daughter we'd totally do this instead of a birthday party. Since I have a son it might be a pirate cruise instead! pirate:

Your little girl is adorable!! I bet she had a blast at the tea party!! Great reviews so far!!!

Excellent point!

Thank you!

Thank you for the review. It is an enjoyable experience for little girls. I took my oldest daughter back when it was $250. I also plan to take my youngest on a future trip. I knew the price went up, but it seems they did away with some special touches that made it more worth the hefty price. For instance, my daughter's plate has a princess scene painted in chocolate and the bracelet was nice enough that I bought here extra charms for it around the parks. Disappointing.

Definitely no chocolate painting anymore, but that would have been amazing!

WOLFGANG PUCK EXPRESS LUNCH

We had originally planned to have lunch at Disney Springs following the Perfectly Princess Tea Party, since I had read that the portions at the Tea Party were small and everyone left hungry. That turned out not to be the case for me. After arriving at Disney Springs and killing some time shopping, the others in my group were ready for lunch, even though I wasn't the least bit hungry.

We arrived at the WPE Marketplace around 1 PM on a drizzly Sunday. It was very crowded and busy inside. I took advantage of the time waiting in line to order, and really studied the menu looking for something very light, since I was still so full. I decided it was a good opportunity to try out a salad. I've been to WPE many times, and usually have one of the delicious pizzas, or the mouth watering rotisserie chicken. I had never had a salad from there, and was glad to have an excuse to give one a try. After reading through the options, I decided to go with the Greek Salad: Butter Lettuce, Feta, Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Kalamata Olives, Peppers and Greek Dressing. Sounded sufficiently light and flavorful! Since I was on the dining plan, I also had to order dessert, so I got a packaged cookie I could stash away for later. Maddie requested Mac and Cheese from the kids menu.

There wasn't a seat to be found inside, so we had to venture out, and were able to find a table that wasn't too wet. Our entrees came surprisingly quick based on the crowd level.

Here's my salad:

and Maddie's Mac and Cheese:

First, the bad news. The salad was not delightful. The butter lettuce was somewhat wilty, and the olives, onions, peppers and tomatoes had a very odd taste and texture. Like they had been fermented or canned. The best way I can describe them is mushy and vinegary. I was glad I wasn't hungry, because I basically just picked the yummy Feta cheese off of this after my first few bites. I will definitely stick with pizza at WPE from now on!

Maddie's mac and cheese was really good! I took a few bites of it -- noodles were cooked well, cheese sauce was yummy, portion was huge. I was glad that it was clearly made from scratch rather than a box, since the menu description was a bit ambiguous.

WPE remains a favorite. It's an excellent use of Counter Service credits. A Table Service quality meal for a Quick Service credit. No wonder it's so popular. Don't get the salad though -- Pizza or bust! I still feel bad that I never did get any WPE pizza on this trip...
