I don't know why, but this has been puzzling me for a while and it's really just a curiosity because it came up during a discussion and I didn't know how to answer it. How exactly does DCL benefit from reservation transfers to TAs? The reservation has already been booked, through DCL no less, so it's not like the TA is bringing in a new customer or marketing. What is DCL paying for the TA to take care of?

Basically...they do not.

That's why they put a 30 day limit on it now.

The only benefit is the TA then answers questions.

Basically it's tradition on paying TAs commission , and maybe repeat business.

The only benefit is the TA then answers questions.

If that, really, especially when the TA is a big box like Costco, Expedia, etc since every question you ask them, they have to call DCL for the answer, or they refer you back to DCL for the answer. A smaller TA who is a pro with DCL and Disney, I can see how DCL could benefit from perhaps reducing the number of calls they receive, and thus maybe less staffing. Don't get me wrong, I am very thankful DCL allows reservation transfers and I hope they continue to allow that. I was just curious what's in it for them, since there's no such thing as a free lunch. ;)
