A coworker just returned from an 18 day stay at Pop Century and was quite upset that they didn't get the "2 BR suite with a King size bed and kitchenette" at Pop Century like her travel agent had promised her. This is the same coworker who I tried on a few ocassions to give her tips and tell her about Pop (DH& I stayed there for 7 days last year), but everytime time I tried to tell her something she would interrupt & say "Oh, I know that, my travel agent told me" or "I was there once in 1982, I know all about that". I even gave her my scrapbook of the Pop trip to look at, with pictures of the rooms. I gave up trying to talk to her about it pretty quickly. I've been looking forward to hearing all about it because she said they were getting the everything included tickets...parasailing and all. I only had a minute to talk with her this morning, I hope to find out some good things about the trip later.
Anyone ever stayed in that 2BR suite at Pop???
Lori

PS: boy am I gonna feel dumb if there really IS ONE!

If she doesn't listen to you, she probably doesn't listen to her TA either!

If I lived in your area I'd want the name of this travel agent...I'd make sure I'd NEVER use her!!!
It's not just the 2 BR king bed POP 'suite' that I find entertaining, but the 'everything included' tickets with parasailing...since she got everything else about the trip right(lol), I'm sure she expected to be able to parasail on that lake right by the POP resort(hahahahaha) :rotfl2: .

agnes!

WOW! As a TA, I can't believe that her TA was that clueless (of course you co-worker sounds like a peach, too). Even if the TA initially thought that you COULD get such a room at POP, wouldn't CRC straighten her out about that? Of is she used Disney's site for TA's, that would have been in plain writing that there was no such room.

I have a hard time believing that your co-worker was told by the TA that the room would have a kitchenette. I'm willing to bet your co-worker ASKED for all of those features but gave the TA a budget that would only allow a value resort. I bet the agent told her all about Pop but didn't believer her. Then your co-worker read a description of the old Gold or Platinum plan and thought her park passes included that stuff and never confirmed with the agent.

It is just barely possible that she got a clueless TA that ignored any and all info that Disney would have given her when she booked the co-worker. I think it's more likely that you co-worker just heard what she wanted to hear.

But please let us know if she tells you anything more about the trip!

WOW this outta be good. Ive dealt with people like your co-worker before and the sheer wish and desire to let out a couple HUGE "I told you so's" would just be so great.

Have a great laugh today at lunch or whenever.

I bet your co-worker, once she tells you the whole story will ask you "How come you didn't tell me any of this" :rotfl:

This may sound odd but I did hear from someone on the dis chat room, that Disney was going to try to make some rooms at the ASMo into two room kid suites, this could be what they were thinking :confused3

I'm fairly sure the room doesn't exist but it's possible she DID buy the Premium plan that basically does include everything (including Parasailing!) I'm on the Premium plan and have the Parasailing booked (along with Fishing, horseback riding, a couple tours, La Nouba & includes 3 meals/day, etc...)

The thing is with the Premium plan is that it's ONLY mentioned on the WDW site and barely (I got the planning video when they changed to Magic Your Way and NO WHERE on the entire thing is the Premium mentioned. Not in the written brochure, not on the CD for the computer they give you, not in the DVD).

So, that part of it she might not be completely nuts! :flower:

You know, she probably wouldn't let the TA get a word in edgewise when making her plans. (though we do have a clueless TA here in our little city that has been on our local radio station giving incorrect info.) When she first told me they were going to WDW she said they were getting a suite, then a few weeks later she said they were staying at Pop. It didn't dawn on me she would think they were the same! I offered her my Birnbaum's book and she said she had one and had already read it. I wonder which parts??? She works in a different dept, so I haven't had a chance to sit down with her yet. I can't wait to her how the parasailing went! She did say they changed her to a King room after she complained about the "suite".

More later...I hope!

Yeah, I priced this Premium plan just yeasterday, just out of curiosity. It seems to add $125 per person per day on top of the cost of your room and park hoppers plus tickets. I figure you'd have to do A LOT of activities and eat A LOT of food to get your money's worth out of this plan. And I would seriously question the wisdom of buying such a plan at a resort that doesn't offer any activities or sit down restaurants.

The 2 BR's are probably connecting rooms......(after all it ends up as 2 rooms)
:rotfl2:

your co-worker sounds like one of my neighbors . . . You can't tell her ANYTHING! She knows it ALL! . . . or so she thinks! Some people are just like that!

I'm betting it wasn't the TA's fault but that your co worker didn't listen to her/him either. Unless it states two bedroom suite on her paperwork! You should ask her about that! Or tell her "well if it says a 2 bedroom Pop Century Suite on your confirmation I'd sure go to the travel agency management", then later ask her how that went. :rotfl:

Well, if she was close enough to the food court maybe that would count as the kitchenette since there is a coffee maker, microwave, & toaster? ;)

I worked front desk at a Disney hotel for over 2 years. I have heard it all, usually ending with "But my travel agent PROMISED me...." Of course, I don't know if it's just people trying to pull a fast one or if their travel agents were really that irresponsible, but probably a mix of both.

So i ncase you're wondering...

No, you can't have a castle view at All-Star Movies
No, you don't get free tickets when you stay at a Disney hotel
No, Disney really doesn't own Universal Studios/IOA/SeaWorld, etc...
No, you can't sleep in bunk beds at a value resort
No, you can't walk from park to park (well, I guess you could if you had enough time)
No, Bugs Bunny will not be signing autographs at the Magic Kingdom
No, you can't have a 2 bedroom suite with a kitchenette at Pop Century

...even though you're travel agent promised you.

Here is a post I had on these boards earlier and the replies I got!

All Stars ???

Do any All Stars hotel rooms have 2 beds and a sofa bed, a fridge and a microwave oven? A co-worker was trying to tell me that she had a room like that 2 years ago and that they always stay at All Stars. I told her that I had never heard of them having all that and she said she knew what she was talking about because she had stayed there.

Please tell me I'm not going crazy.

We stayed at All Star Music in 2002 and there were two double beds and thats it. I'd say your co-worker is wrong.

The only other furnature at either resort was the entertainment center/dresser and a night stand. There MIGHT have been a chair somehting like a recliner but it didn't recline at the pop century but I would have to dig out my pictures to be sure.

I think she may have been yanking my chains because I was telling her about the great rate I got at DoubleTree Suites for of next vacation in September. Everything I told her about the room at DT she said they had at All Stars. I said that maybe she had rented a fridge and she said it wasn't a cube, but she described something more like the size that they have now put in at the Deluxes. Insisted that they had a microwave and a sofa bed. I said maybe a rollaway and she said no, it pulled open from a sofa. She said that they probably put stuff like that in the Value resorts first, because they are meant for families and they understand that families need this stuff so they can afford to be there.

I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something considering none of this stuff is on the Disney site or Disboards. She insists that they stay at All Stars every time they stay at Disney cause that is all they can afford with 3 kids and that they always get these things.

She will be staying at Nickelodeon Studios the next time and she says that it sleeps 7 people and there is no extra charge for over 2 adults in room. She says 7 people covers everyone in room. I hope she's not in for a surprise when she goes in Sept. w/ her 3 kids, her, hubby, Mother-in-law and Niece.

Oh, Well, Thanks for the quick replies on the condition of my sanity.
