We just booked our trip for April & after reading thru our itinerary I realized my TA booked the original dining plan when I specifically told her I wanted the Deluxe. I like the idea of pre-paying for all of our meals. I called & told them they made a mistake. Were booked thru southwest vacations & they called me back & said southwest doesnt offer 2008 DDP. What?! So what do I do? Can we just buy it when we check into our hotel?

That just seems crazy to me. Any advice?

Call Southwest Vacations back and tell them they either fix the reservation that they didn't enter correctly or cancel the whole thing.

No, you cannot add the Dining Plan when you check into the hotel. It must be part of the reservation your travel agent makes.

When you book through anyone other than Disney (such as Southwest Vacations) every component offered by Disney may not be available. It is best to book directly with Disney for a Disney trip, as modifications and changes are usually simpler.
You will need to refer back to Southwest Vacations to see if the Deluxe plan is available.

Another possibility is that you transfer your reservation to another travel agency that can switch it for you. You may have to sign off on this with the new agency, but you can check.

IF this is a Southwest thing, changing TAs probably won't help. You may need to cancel the Southwest res and re-book the room / tocket / dining directly with Disney if the the deluxe dining is really important to you. If it were myself, and I was really looking forward to the deluxe dining, it would definitely be worth changing over!

bicker is correct. As has been mentioned many times, the TA owns the res. Only the TA can make the changes.
Not saying using a TA is good or bad -- but that is one reason why some do not use a TA. The guest really has no control directly on the res. They have to go through their TA.
