Hi all - old threads on the water parks seem to imply that swimming with a t-shirt over your swimming suit is ok, but I thought I'd ask specifically. (I'm also going to call Disney.) I'm very modest.

(I know that swimming in wet t-shirt (over your suit) isn't the most comfortable feeling in the world.. it can get pretty heavy and soggy.. but I'm used to it.)

Also, I have a pair of thin, very short cotton running shorts (elastic waist, no metal grommets or anything) that I'd like to be able to slip on (and swim in) if I get hit with a bout of lower-half modesty. Anyone know if Disney would be ok with these the way they are with "board shorts"?

TIA! :)

The only Disney water park I have been to was BB & I did see people with wet T's on. I cannot see them telling you no since many people do burn very easy in the Fl sun. They may not allow them on down the slides and inner tube slide attractions. That I don't remember.

I don't think you'll have any problem. My Dh has always gone into the pools and enjoyed the water parks with a shirt on. I've also had bathing suits that are shorts, but there would be no way for someone to know whether I'm wearing shorts over a suit or whether their part of the suit itself.

What about buying a sunshirt (rash guard) and swimsuit shorts? I would think you would be much more comfortable in items that are made for swimming... they don't hold as much water. I know that Lands End sale some cute swim tops and shorts. I think Eddie Bauer does, too.

We went to Hawaii over the summer and I bought all of the kids (4) swimsuits, swim tops & swimshorts. This way they had extra converage when needed it.

I wore a T over my suit at BB and TL and did the inner tube slides with it on also think I did the body slides to with it on. I just remember having to hold my glasses in my hand and concentrating on not breaking them! The only one I can't remember is the really high one I didn't do that one the last trip so my memory is foggy.......

There are no problems wearing a T shirt in the park ( I burn like a rasher of bacon under the grill ) However, I have bought myself a surf t-shirt ( Very thin, does not get heavy with water and stops me from burning )

Try and find one, they are fantastic. Also, I have got myself a pair of scuba shoes to stop my feet from burning !

Enjoy !

We were at Typhoon Lagoon today....great weather!! I saw alot of people with rash guards, regular t shirts, shorts, etc... I even saw a guy go down Crush and Gusher with a pair of regular deck shoes on....I thought that was weird.

I've worn t-shirts at water parks before, and never had a problem...except when I plunge into water and it balloons up all around me like some crazy pufferfish. I hadn't thought about the surf shirts...good idea.

Think swim shirt. drys fast and has a SPF number like 8 million..

I have seen them at Walmart, Dicks sporting goods. Sears
and http://www.academy.com/index.php?page=content&target=products/apparel/mens/swim/shirts

They are on clearance now at the Dicks Sporting Goods near my house

I wore a hat while floating around on the lazy river and saw plenty of people in t-shirts. Also saw one person who looked fully clothed (shorts, t-shirt and flip flops) floating along...

I just want to chime in with another plug for a swim shirt or surf shirt or rashguard or whatever you want to call them

My DH, who burns easily, often used to wear a t-shirt swimming, but did not like how heavy it got, how it ballooned out, etc. Before our cruise in December I got him a Lands End swim shirt, and although at first he thought it was a waste of money, he LOVED it. Said it was much lighter, did not balloon out, dried quickly, and was overall MUCH more comfortable and functional than a t-shirt.

Have fun!

I wear Dri-Fit style t-shirts to the waterparks with no problem, they get wet but dry off very quickly. The Disney waterparks allow you to wear t-shirts on every slide as I've never had to remove it.Aquatica doesn't allow you to wear the t-shirts on their Dolphin slide. The waterpark in Tampa Adventure Island also asks you to remove t-shirts on a couple of their slides.

Thanks everyone! :) This is great news. :yay:

I actually ordered a surf shirt and board shorts to wear over my suit, but I had to send both of them back since they didn't fit and don't have time to go through that again before our trip. :( (We also live in an area with no stores that sell swimwear beyond a Target which just has a few teeny, tiny bikinies left in stock.)
