T-shirts for the WDW marathon

If we go with the same printer, we could all make our own choice as to sleeves or sleeveless or long sleeve or any combo, as long as they have it available. It wuold be an additional ~$25 IIRC for another setup (feather on sleeve). While I think it's very cool, I'lll likely just go sleeveless again.

Love the new front! Feather would probably look better on back, though. Along the legal/non leagal issues, is "Courage to Start" copyrighted?

Carrie, I think our posts bumped in cyberspace :rotfl2: :rotfl2: The first draft of the back I've done has "WISH (in logo form) gave me the courage to start" which is by no means copyrighted ;) And I doubt JB is nearly as aggresive with copyrighting as Disney!

A new back is coming up shortley :moped:

The Columbus shirts had "I had the courage to start" on the back, and John Bingham was fine with that, in fact we gave him a shirt and he loved it. I would like to see that on the back of the shirt, and I think it ties in nicely with the DLF>DNF>>DNS equation.

ETA: I looked back and see everyone seems to be agreed on the DFL>DNF>DNS -- sorry for the confusion! Disregard my second design.
I've done two backs. I'm not clear on how the DLF>DNF>DNS should go. If it really is an equation, then it should go as that. However, if its more of a saying, then the English flow makes more sense as DNS>>DNF>>DLF.

Please comment on spacing, wording, design elements, etc.!

Would you prefer "I had the courage to start" or "WISH gave me the courage to start"? In my case, WISH definitely is where I got my courage.

Sunny

I don't know if ti kills the artistic balance, but what i had seen was. DLF>DNF>>DNS. The">>" staning for much greater or much better.

I am most partial to WISH gave me the courage to start. If I had not rad about teh 05 marathoners, I never would have thought abuot signing up. If I had not been on the training threads last year, I would not have made it to the starting line. JMO.

I like the >>, it won't kill any art! I am so in agreement with you about WISH giving me the courage. I was signed up as one of the '05 half walkers but wasn't able to go due to a family situation. I don't think I ever would have dreamed I could walk a half, much less run a whole if it wasn't for the '05 team (Carebear, Lily, et al).

I thought I'd let ya know it looks like the /WISH will become part of the address soon. Webmaster Corey said that it didn't look like a problem, but had some additional checking to do. I will let everyone know as soon as I do.

(However, I'm going on vaca tomorrow Saturday to Saturday)

Also love the evolution of our design.

I love the back of the shirt with the feather! It looks awesome.

I really like the way someone explained the equation to me (It condenses some of the words):

DLF>DNF>>DNS

Dead Last Finish is better than
Did Not Finish, which greatly trumps
Did Not Start!

I love the back design but I'm thinking that the wording is too much. Can we just say Dead Last Finish > Did Not Finish > Did Not Start?? We could put it under the DLF>DNF>DNS. Also, could we maybe come up with a whole math theme for the back? Maybe WISH + Courage to Start = WDW Marathon Weekend 2007 or something like that?

Sorry, just trying to brainstorm on some ideas...

Ah, scrap that math thing....I really like the WISH / Gave me the courage to start & the feather on that logo it looks nice.

What about spacing the wording like this:
DLF > DNF > DNS

Dead Last Finish
is better than
Did Not Finish
which is better than
Did Not Start

I like this design with the wording centered, and love the WISH gave me the courage to start with the feather underneath. This shirt is going to be SO cool. :thumbsup2

ETA, I like the version with it centered with the explanation underneath even better, ScoJo15 must have been posting at the same time!!

Love the centered wording....LOVE this whole evolution of the back of the shirt today. Sunny, the saying with the feather underneath on the back is perfect!

My only suggestion would be to space it as above (thanks Scott)....but use the wording

DLF>DNF>>DNS

Dead Last Finish
is better than
Did Not Finish
which greatly trumps
Did Not Start

The best part of this is that it all ties together when you add...

W.I.S.H gave me the courage to start!

So there is a real flow of words and consistency there! The feather is special and looks the best yet where it is on the back. :thumbsup2 This is SOOOO exciting!

I like the centering/spacing emphasis this way, too. I'll get right on it ;)

Was this Lynn's original explanation? I like this wording, too! Help! decisions, decisions...

DLF>DNF>>DNS

Dead Last Finish

is better than

Did Not Finish,

which greatly trumps

Did Not Start!

Something like this? This wording, these lines but with Scott's sizing/emphasis style?

I'd say if this is Lynn's official wording then we should go with it since she brought the equation to us.

Sunny

Sunny, I think Lynne did use the better than and greatly trumps and I think the >> is an awesome eye-catcher!

I LOVE the front as it is with the logo and the runners and no feather, and then have the equation, the explanation and WISH gave me the courage to start with the feather. I absolutely feel I never would have made it through a month of training to train last year much less actually training and making it to the start line without all the great WISHers who pushed me, prodded me, held me up and cheered me on. No one in the world has ever had as much blind faith in me as my WISH buddies did through 2005 and right up through marathon weekend.

Okay, sorry about the mush. :grouphug:

Lynne can verify, but this is pretty close to her original wording (the only change being the DLF instead of DFL.

I love the designs, guys! I'm thinking about 2 shirts this year too...a tank for next year's Minnie and a sleeve of some sort. I just love this whole concept of having WISH racing team shirts at events all over the country (and possibly a couple other countries now as well)

For me, the feather symbolizes the whole courage to start thing 'because it took the feather for Dumbo to believe he could fly. Sunny came up with the Dumbo feather tie-in last year so we'd have our Disney connection without disturbing any copyright gurus. The feather is actually the reason I have the R. Kelly song, "I believe I Can Fly" in my training mix.

Add me to the list of people who 'never woulda'...I never woulda conceived of doing any kind of race if I hadn't found the 2005 team just a few weeks before they did the half. And I doubt I woulda had the courage to show up without the support of the 2006 team...I have to say that's one of the scariest things I've ever done.

Anyone else need a tissue? :sad1:

Awww geez guys! Don't get me started! This is one of the biggest things I have every done outside of my comfort zone and so out of character (not anymore though) And I would have never even started without my WISH buddies.

Oh, and since this is the shirt thread. I love all the ideas you guys have come up with. :thumbsup2

I'm usually very picky when it comes to designing things like this but I can honestly say...

I LOVE IT! I LOVE IT! I LOVE IT!

I got chills when I imagined how all the ideas are fitting together perfectly. The star periods with what it stand for underneath, the equation with WISH gave me the courage to start underneath, and to end it all with the feather. It is so meaningful!

Did I mention I LOVE IT?!?!

But I am concerned that green isn't my color... :scratchin :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Mel- where do we vote to make "I Believe I Can Fly" our official WISH song? I will never listen to that song the same way again. It's so gonna make me cry now!
