T-shirts for the WDW marathon

Ok, I'm gonna sound really dumb here but what is the significance of the feather?

It represents teh magic feather that made Dumbo fly.

Dave,

Nice job!
I really like the stars as periods. They are very dynamic and bold. This design is also much "shorter" and will not be cramped with a bib pinned underneath.

I will "clean up" your design by getting everything green that should be. That will give us a better sense of what we're looking at. I'm not sure the feather holds up as the "I". We'll have a better feel for it with the lime green filled in. Maybe we should try your design both with the feather for the I and with a standard I and the feather worked in elsewhere. One thing about graphic design is; the more brainstorming you do upfront, the happier you are in the end. Typically, its not wise to give the "client" too many options (keep most of the brainstorming to yourself) but since we're all the client and the artists, I say flood the boards! :rotfl2: :lmao: :thumbsup2 We've got bandwidth to spare :teeth:

Hi Sunny: I agree with you about the feather. While I like the idea of the feather as the "I", I'm not sure it is going to work. I'd love to see it though.

Great work Sunny and Dave.

I like the *stars as periods between the letters.
I like the feather as an I - I hope it works out
I like the DLF>DNF>>DNS on the back - with or without Chip n Dale works for me.
I would prefer without the year 2007 - as I plan to wear the the DL 1/2 in Sept. But I will go with the majority.

Dave,

Here is your last design all "greened up". The resolution seems to get dimished with each go around. How are you creating your images? I use PaintShop Pro.

The feather is shown here in black and white. The actual feather image is ~20 colors of grays and blues which would not be the case on the shirt. I'm sticking on two other feather options, one is the one I used last year and the other is one I just found. They are both truly black and white so there'd be no surprizes on the shirt.

Here is my design with the stars added as periods but not the feather. I really like the W.I.S.H. motto spelled out under the runners, so I tried to tighten up the spread a bit to make room for a bib.

Sunny,

I really like your latest version! Thanks to you and Dave for all your hard work. I can't wait to wear the official team shirt.

I really like that last logo and can't think of anything I'd do to change it. I like the feather being off to the side as opposed to replacing the i and I like how it incorporates everything into one nice and clean logo.

Nice work!

Ohh yes, I like it very very much! :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2 SUPER JOB Dave and Sunny!!!! I love the design that you guys collaborated on! Even though I really liked Dave's "I" Feather (VERY creative idea), I think the "I" with star is really cool....so I'm slightly more inclined to the above design.

It's a winner! :goodvibes

Dave and Sunny -

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2  :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

You guys are awesome! Thanks for all of your efforts!

What an AWESOME creative group!!! Can I maybe toss out another idea? What about using that little feather for the dot on the i?
The shirt is almost too cool to be believed..but then I see Mel's shirt from last year, so I know it's going to happen!! THANKS so much!!! This is so exciting!! :jumping1: Anne

Hi All: OK, you guys are going to shoot me, or kick me off the team. I had a couple of thoughts about the most recent design. I would rather not have the words "We're Inspired to Stay Healthy" on the front. I think they would be fine moved to the back and make the front less wordy. I also thought the feather off to the side looked a little out of place. It didn't quite look like it was incorporated into the image to me. I put the feather under the runners. My idea was that the feather is an important part of our image - believing in ourselves and all - plus a 2nd idea is the runners are running on a feather. Our footfalls are as light as a feather, or like landing on a soft, fluffy thing (which would be good as far as my shins are concerned).

Here are the images. Of course, I'm not offended at all if people don't like these ideas and want to go with one of the others. I definitely want the words "We're Inspired to Stay Healthy" on the shirt, but I thought moving them from the front to the back would 1.) make them more visible because they could be larger, 2.) make our image/logo more streamlined and 3.) leave more room for our bibs. Let me know what you think.

I actually like this idea, but.... I like the "we're inspired to stay healthy" on the front. Kind of explains what "WISH" stands for. I like the feather under the runners too. Is there any way to put the "we're inspired to stay healthy" under the feather? Just an idea, and I am way too tired to have many of those tonight. Let alone any good ones. Just throwing it out there for everyone else.

Great ideas so far! Thanks for all the time you guys are spending to get them just right! It means a lot. I know that the moment I put on this shirt will be when I finally believe that I've become an athlete. It's going to be such an emotional moment for me!

Just my thoughts...

1. I really would like to keep the We're Inspired to Stay Healthy on the front. That way it works directly with the periods to distinguish us from Make-a-Wish.

2. Also, I don't know what to do with the feather thing. It seems awkward. Maybe I need to rewatch Dumbo to get it, but I personally haven't found it inspiring during my training. But by all means let's keep it if it's a WISH tradition. I think it would look really cute on the sleeves of the shirt, if that's possible. Or maybe a small one up above the H in W.I.S.H.

I really like this design but without the feather. I would not mind the feather on the back of the shirt, but I don't see the need to have it on the front. It seems out of place to me too. I also like not having the year on the front.

We are going to have trouble with Chip & Dale on the back since they are Disney licensed characters. Lesser known or not, we do not want our printer to get in trouble. As some of you will recall, we went with WDW Marathon Weekend last year instead of Walt Disney World because of concern over the use of the full name. While I love C&D, we better leave their image off the shirt for legal reasons.

I am not an artist by any stretch of the imagination, but what I suggest for the back is similar to last year's design with the following words centered:

DLF > DNF > DNS

Dead Last Finish is better than
Did Not Finish, which is better than
Did Not Start

I probably have the meaning of the equation wrong, but you get the idea. Then, maybe we could go with the phrase "W.I.S.H. gave me the courage to start" and we could have the feather near that.

If we want to use the shirt for events other than just the WDW marathon, I recommend that we leave reference to that event off the back of the shirt.

Okay, that's my $.02. I will now leave the designing to the experts. Great work so far guys! :thumbsup2

I totally agree with you, Heather. I find the feather on the front to be sort of "forced in" whereas it can be worked into the back much more easily.

I suppose you are right about C&D :sad2: We don't want to get anyone in trouble by sneaking around.

I really like how you made the DNS... thing work. I'll work on that today if I can.

To put a feather on the sleeve would be an extra setup fee and increase the printing cost. We could maybe find out how much that would be and see how many people want to go that route. Personally, I'm going for the sleeveless shirt again this year (if its a choice) so I wouldn't get a feather on the sleeve.

As for the "WDW Marathon Weekend", I'd like to find out from the printer if that could be masked off of some of the shirts without a second setup fee. Carrie??? Are you willing to talk with our buddy the printer? :teeth: If it wasn't too expensive, I'd like one shirt with the WDW Marathon and one without.

And in the words of a great space encyclopedia, "Don't Panic"! We'll work out all the kinks and get some really cool shirts made :thumbsup2
