Well, it is official - we made our room reservations for next December. My sister and I will be taking 5 of our great nieces and nephews. 3 of them have never been to DW and to let them know they are going on their first trip (ages 10, 13 and 14) I was thinking of making up some kind of T-shirt that would have their name and and dates of the trip so they could wear them at WDW and would like to give the shirt to them this Christmas. Has anyone ever made their own shirts? I've often seen groups of people with the same T-shirt while at Disney. Any ideas? Has anyone ever seen Disney iron on decals? All would be appreciated. Thanks.

Any other ideas in lieu of the T-shirt would be appreciated also.

what a fun trip that will be! I have seen iron on transfer paper in the office supply section you design your own & print the transfer sheet & then apply to whatever fabric. Maybe one option...

We did what Rebecca12345 suggested - or rather my sister did! She got a clip of Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Donald & Goofy and just added the text:

"xxxxx Family Vacation
Animal Kingdom Lodge May 19 - 28, 2001"

If you do this, just make sure you trim around the picture & don't use the entire transfer sheet. She didn't do that & they tended to peel. Once they peeled back to the area with the text/artwork they stopped.

We got some really nice comments on them!

Thanks. Is this something I can easily find at A. C. Moore or Michaels?

They are going to be so surprised!

I can't remember exactly where she got it - but it was either at AC Moore/Michaels or Office Max/Staples. I do remember getting the T-shirts at AC Moore though.

I'm sure they are going to be sooooo excited when they realize what the shirts mean! ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo What great aunts you two are!!! :teeth:

I remember helping choose a font to use & know we didn't have even half of those I now have loaded on my system. I think we ended up using Comic Sans MS in bold because it gave a nice wide letter. She used a purple/eggplant color. It was neat! (I still wear mine every week. ;) )

I have been to Disney many times but the best trips were when I took my nieces and nephews - and now these are actually my nephews children. It's about time they go, but they are great kids and it will be money well spent just to see the smiles on their faces down there. I will probably be more excited than they will be. We always tell them we may not leave them much at the end but we certainly will have good times while we are on this good earth. I can't wait!!!!

And, thanks for your help again.

Transfer paper can be found at walmart, staples, officemax, Office depot. The craft stores may have it.

My family just returned from a 3 day DCL cruise - it was our family's first cruise ever. Check out a Disney Store catalog. We had t-shirts custom made and they weren't that expensive. Then, on the first day of the cruise we dropped them off at Guest Services and the characters aboard the ship signed them. We had them delivered back to our stateroom the last night of the cruise. We then wore the shirts on debarkation day. WAY COOL! You can't believe the number of comments that people made about the shirts. My kids DD 10 and DS 7 really liked them a lot.

Good luck!
Brenda

I have done the transfer paper used above and it works well, just remember to wash the shirt inside out in cold water only!

Another idea is if you find fabric with disney characters that you would like to use. Iron on fusible web to the back of the fabric, cut out the image you want to use, iron it onto a T-shirt and then use dimensional fabric paint to seal the edges. I did this a lot when DS's were younger, it is easy and they come out great.

Bought the transfer paper. Did a test tonight on an old shirt and it works fine. I am going to customize each shirt - the front will have a small picture of their favorite character and their name below it - kind of pocket size. The back will say Happy Holidays from the [name of family - city and state] with all their names listed and then for the kids - my first trip to Disneyworld and the dates. They will be soooooo excited when they see them. I am excited too. Seeing their faces when they read their shirts will be so cool! Next year at this time we will be in WDW!
