T-Rex without a Ressie

We are leaving in a week and a half for Disney and my son really wants to go to T-Rex, but we are hesitent to make a reservation now since we don't want to tie ourselves to a specific time (due to a couple strange circumstances.) Does anyone know if we will be able to get a table just walking-in on a Saturday in early Feb? (Specifically the 11th.)

We are even okay with putting our name in a walking around a bit since we love to look at the shops.

We have eaten here a few times and just walked in. But I think I just heard they are now on DDP so it may be harder to do that now w/ people being able to make ADRs.

Hi, Just wanted to share my experience from this Past Sept 2011 when we visited WDW & Trex. It was mid week, like a Wed or Thursday and my son and I had plans to go there for lunch (My wife n 2 older girls wanted to sit pool side, not interested in the Dino theme). So we took the bus, walked over to Trex and it was *maybe* 1/4th full, at that time. We gave our name and we were seated in under 2min....NO Ressie!

Cool place for younger kids (My son had just turned 5). The food was average.....On par with a Applebees or Fridays etc....Not bad by any means....All in all, We enjoyed it.....Have fun!

If you go 5-6ish you should be fine. We had a reservation back in July and didn't need it. We were seated before I could pay for my drink at the bar.

I would make a reservation....I do not think this one requires a CC hold so it's easy to call if you need to cancel it. It's newly on the DDP and it seems that there are just very little slow time for WDW anymore. Better to have it than not.

We've had good luck walking in as well. We went last Tuesday around 4:30 and walked right in. I know that's not the same as a Saturday, but still....my DS and I had also eaten at RFC at AK on Saturday night, and I got the Landry's select card, registered, and got $25 off our T-rex meal!

When we went on a weekend, we did have ressies thankfully b/c the line for people walking up to get in was SO long. We were able to get seated fairly quickly w/lots of glares from the line.

We went in May 2011 mid week. We got there right as it opened for lunch (expecting to have to put our name on a list and wait) but we walked right in. The kids loved it.

Thanks for all the insights. Still a hard decision! Sounds like Saturday night might be harder to walk in...

Does anyone know if you can put your name in and then walk around outside or do you have to wait in line at the restaurant?

Can you explain this to me please? The card is 25.00 right? So how did this save you money? my friend will be eating at both places in March so this may help her. We will be going in Nov so I am also asking for me.

Do they have two separate lines then? One for people with ADRs and one for walk ups, like Ohanas? We have a reservation for Friday Feb 10th.

We have never had to make ressies and just walked in, it's a huge place, but we actually prefer RFC. The way the Landry's Select Club card (as it has been upgraded to) works is you get a free appetizer, also on your b'day month get another $25. There may be different perks also, but haven't looked lately as we only use it at Disney - don't have any around here. If you have the old Safari Club card, I think our invitation read that you have to upgrade before March '12 ( I think) or have to pay another $25. Not sure as I will look into it closer to our April '12 trip. Not sure about the two lines, as we've never seen it, we have just walked up (other side to line) showed them our card - they took our names - then called us when a table was available if it wasn't at that time. We didn't stand in the line.

Out of curiosity, I just tried to make an ADR for a party of 4 for dinner time on Feb 11 and there is no availability.

It was actually confusing b/c there was this one long line & we weren't sure if we should wait in it or not since we had a ressie. We got in line & after about 10 min & the line not moving much, I went to ask. They said just come on up & check in, so I told Dh to get out of line. This was the 2nd weekend in Feb. 2010. Not sure if there have been changes or not, but I was shocked to see that line when WDW had low crowds all week. I found out from someone there that locals cannot make ressies & they would only give ressies to people from out of town as they have limited opportunity to eat there. So I was glad I had made ressies ahead of time.

Did you call the restaurant direct? The day it was announced that they were going to start taking the DDP, I called to make an ADR for our Feb trip. Nothing was available on the WDW site, but when I called the restaurant direct, she gave me a choice of any times I wanted that week for any day. The restaurant's number is 407-828-8739.

Interesting... a couple of years back there were no ressie's allowed for T-Rex. I guess they changed it so you can reserve?

if T-Rex and RFC have changed their policies regarding Orlando. Previously a small number of tables were released to Disney Dining for booking. It was much easier to call the restaurants direct and get "Priority Seating".

Has this changed since the two restaurants have been added to the Dining Plan?
