T-Rex vs. Rainforest Cafe?

I was just wobndering which might be a better choice (Since I heard somewhere that both are now on the DDP which we will be trying next trip). I would probably love the atmosphere to the Rainforest Cafe, but my brother wants to do T-Rex because of the Buld-a-Dino there. We want to know how the menu differs for the restaurants so that we can make a decision that will work out for all of us.

I was wondering if both are really on the DDP now? And is Build-A-Dino really worth getting a T-Rex reservation for, or could we perhaps just go into Build a Dino seperately and eat at Rainforest Cafe, or somewhere else? I really wanted to know.

Which one is your preferred restaurant? Which atmosphere do you enjoy better?

Thanks!

I think the food at T-Rex is 1,000,000 times better than Rainforest. It is really nicely decorated, and I think I remember hearing that it is now on the DDP. You can go and build a dino without eating there though. Check out allears.net, they have all the menus for the restaurants and see what you think.

You're a good sister to do all of this planning with your brother in mind!;)

We used to love to go to Rainforest cafe but ate at the TRex in November and LOVED it! I definitely thought the food was better and loved the atmosphere. This may be in part because it is a new experience for us. Sadly, we find both restaurants' service rather slow.

even though I have never eaten a TRex I have at RC and will never do so again.

food is sub par, lighting is horrid( I can't see my hand in front of my face let alone read the tiny font on the menu) and the cool animinatronic stuff? can be seen from the shopping area just as easily.

OTOH I actually want to try TRex.. both the menu and theming sound pretty good( and we do not have kids)

I have never done RainForrest, but I have done T-Rex a few times and it is scheduled again for my May trip. It has become a Disney trip must. Atmosphere is fun but loud. Food is good. My sister swears the burgers are the best and looks forward to getting one each trip. As another poster stated you do not need to eat here to go to Build-A-Dino or shop in the gift shop.

Have eaten at both and neither has the greatest food but prefer Rainforest to T-Rex. The ice cave room has very bright strobe-like lights that drove me nuts :scared1: I would definitely not sit in there, passing through was enough

I looked at the menu and noticed that T-Rex has more of a menu that we'd enjoy. Plus I heard about how they have meteor showers and that sounds amazing.

I think we will end up doing T-Rex. It looks like it will be a lot of fun.

But I just have to ask,how bad is the noise level. My father easily gets headaches, and if it is TOO loud, he might not be able to go (even though we are not sure if he will be able to come on the trip with us, it could end up just being us and our Mom)

Thanks!

IMO one is not any better than the other. Both are super pricey for very average food. The atmosphere in both restaurants is very neat. It really just depends on what you are looking for. My ds thinks the dinos are pretty darn cool at T-Rex. We have done build a dino as well. Kids enjoyed it!

I honestly think you can go either way. BOTH are loud. If sound is an issue, may not be the best place for your dad.

We used to love RF but now we are more T-Rex people. I think the food is better-more flavor, bigger portions. As far as noise, I don't think it was TOO over the top loud. Yes- the lights flash, dinos roar and metors shake and move but it lasts maybe 3 minutes every 25 minutes or so. We sat across from each other and still heard each other when the metors "hit".
Good luck in your decision!

Yet it's the most requested room. I didn't sit in there, but wish I had... that room was so cool.

I would like to go to a sit down place but DH is kinda picky about his burgers. Would you happen to know if the burgers were thick (like TGI Fridays/Applebees) or just your average patty?

Hi. Ate at both and the family prefers T-Rex. The food at both, honestly is Meh... average at best. Don't go there for the food. Atmosphere choice depends on your family and what their into. I have a DS6 and DS2 and are into Dinos... so its a given they'd prefer T-Rex, unfortunately even over V&A's... Fortunately for us, it's in DD and we rarely go there. If it were near Beach Club, they'd bug us to eat there everyday...

I actually prefer Rainforest at AK, but that may change now that they are on DP. I didn't love T Rex. The lights and noise really annoyed me. Rainforest in noisy, but just doesn't annoy me as much. We kept having people coming right over to our table at T Rex to take pictures of the dino we were sat next to. It really became intrusive. Truthfully the food is sort of like Applebee food. It is okay, but nothing special.

Maybe you would change your mind if you sat in there for an hour . Like anything else everyone likes different things, but was definitely weird for me and with strobe effect, it made me slightly nauseated. From a distance it might have been different for us - I talked with others that actually expressed the same feelings and it was not a popular room the time we went, but like I said we all like different things - no wrongs, no rights, whatever suits :thumbsup2

I'm with ya. Although it was one of the coolest looking rooms I've ever seen, I imagine an over extended amount of time in there might have driven me nuts.

Another thing, I loved the food there. Unlike the few times I've bee to Rainforest Cafe, the food at T-Rex was very good. You can't expect anything other than Applebees/TGIF type food from a place like this, but the different between Rainforest and T-Rex was noticable for me. Unless they've changed the menu recently at Rainforest, the food there is pretty bad.

I remember getting the ribs at T-Rex and they were awesome. I forgot what else we got but everyone was happy with their choices.
