T Rex or Rainforest Cafe

We are staying at POR. Our flight gets in at 7:30. Is it worth it to try to get to Downtown Disney for dinner? TRex has a time at 10 and Rainforest Cafe has one at 9. We are not on the Dining Plan this trip and are only staying for a couple days before a cruise.

We have only eaten @ Rainforest (3 times) before and enjoy it. The atmosphere makes it a must try @ least once. We really enjoy when the lights dim and it fake rains, the animals come alive and move, just really cool. Food has always been good and service as well.

if you have never eaten at a Rainforest ever.. than it is worth going once.

me, personally do NOT like the food at all but the atmosphere is cool for a one time experience.

the menu at Trex looks better to me and I am intrigued by the concept as well.

and we don't have kids....

IMO, rainforest sucked. It was overpriced and the food wasn't good at all. T Rex was much better!

a really bad experience last time at RFC. The worst in our four times there and probably a much lower experience overall. We had tables near us seated after us that left before our food arrived.

RFC changed their menu and I prefer the one at T-Rex now. If you have kids then go and enjoy. If you don't have kids, head to Raglan Road or House of Blues (recently changed menu also) instead.

We've been to both RFC & T-Rex and prefer the RFC. We have had some very good ribs there. Haven't been since PP said they changed their menu - didn't know about that. We will be going in April, so I guess we will see then if we still like it.

I loved T-Rex when we went before, I've never been to RFC. I'd do T-Rex.

Yeah both places are the same....over priced, OK food!!! with that said, we still hit at least one of them every trip. Really surprised no one has mentioned..you have 3 boys....though they will like both...I would say they will enjoy TREX better. ITS Freakin Dinosaurs!!!!!

The boys said they want to try T Rex. I also asked them to pick one other restaurant they wanted to eat to to and they all said Chef Mickeys. So now to figure out when to squeeze them in booking this late. I'm thinking if they slepe on the plane maybe we could do the 10PM dinner at T Rex, but that may be pushing it. We like to do Chef Mickeys the first night, but not sure if we can make it over there by 9:30 when our flight lands at 7:30. We are only there for three nights and two whole days. It's almost torture. But I think we will get plenty to eat on the cruise.

My almost six year old daughter LOVES dinosaurs. The kids don't know about the trip we are planing yet for sometime in October. I am hoping to try T-Rex, but am a little worried that it will be too much like the Rainforest Cafe. We have eaten there a few times and while the atmosphere is excellent, the food wasn't quite up to par. It was expensive (which I expect) and wasn't as satisfying as hoped. Hopefully I can continue reading up on the T-Rex here and will find you great Disboard folks will ease my mind

I"ve thought about trying T Rex as well..we went inside our last trip and looke around..looked very nice but very very busy...I believe they have a $5 coupon in the Orlando entertainment book..also..if you are an Annual pass holder there is a discount?...I also believe there is an "award chart" you can print off their site and you can earn a free childrens meal! Also, maybe just go for appetizers/dessert?

Not much of a difference between RFC and T-Rex. They are owned by the same company - similar prices, similar menus, similar food quality. Nothing to write home about, but cool atmosphere for the kids. Are you renting a car or taking DME? If you are taking DME, it could take as long as 90 mins to get to your resort which means you wouldn't make it in time for the 9pm ADR, even if your flight is on time. I would go with the 10pm one, or just wing it and try to do a walk up. That time of night, I would think they could take a walk up and I have had no problem walking up to T-Rex before.
