So, which of these is better?

I think that our boys, 12 and 10 would like either one - so, that leaves the decision up to which one tastes better!

We'd be on the DxDP, so price doesnt matter...

and what did you get when you ate there?

What was good & what was bad...come on, you can be honest..I can take it!!

:rotfl:

I have eaten at both but RC not at Disney and honestly LOVED T-Rex more! The atmosphere was the best! I got the burger and so did DH but have heard that the ribs are good. We also go the mozz. sticks. the food was great! Def doing it again!

Just as a heads up I'm planning my vacation this year and was looking through these restaurants and NEITHER of them are on the Disney Dining Plan. So if you go you'll have to pay out of pocket.

That being said we're going to the T Rex Cafe because nothing beats the atmosphere there. I saw some videos online and it just looks amazing with all the animatronics and the meteor shower ceiling.

Yes....no dining plan excepted at either even deluxe. I hate to say this but I would not consider paying for food OOP when you are on the deluxe plan. Just my opinion on that.

But if you are still willing to go and pay OOP, I would recommend the T-Rex. We have been to both a few times each. The food is about the same. Chain food at best. It is over priced and not the best prepared. You are going to atmosphere not the food. The T-Rex is really cool.

You could just look at the menus online and see which you prefer, but I think boys would like T-Rex better.

Enjoy.

:)

In the past neither has been on the reg. dining plan. Rainforest is on the DX DP but what I have read on another site this past week is both will be offered on the DP so look into this further.

We eat at the Rainforest at AK each visit. I get the pastalaya usually. It is spicy and the serving is a good portion. It has chicken shrimp(minimal) and sausage with pasta- Jambalaya and pasta mixed. My hushand usually gets the pot roast. An average size portion but he must enjoy it to get it time after time. My parent's either get the burgers or the salads. My son usually gets the kids pizza. Last visit the service was less fabulous and we got some different things as we had a big lunch and weren't hungry. We tried the pita quesidillas and wings. The wings only come at one heat level and the pita quesadilla is with a pita so it is doughier than a usual quesidilla. My husband and I shared and it was plenty for the two of us since we weren't starved. Rainforest is a staple to our vacation but now, so isn't T-Rex. Mind you they are both Landry restaurants so the burgers and salads are basically the same. Their food distributor is the same just different food titles. I must say my husband picked this for his bday lunch. The dinosuars are cool and the meteor shower is loud but so isn't the rainstorm at rainforest with the animals going crazy. We had great salads at T-rex and my husband had the Salmon and again my son had the kids pizza. The only time on the trip though. My husband had 2 drinks and got the souveneir glass. A little pricey but it was his day. My mom got the burger and again it was good. My husband seems to like the Trex over Rainforest as each person each trip gets to pick two restaurants they must go to and he picked this one the last 2 trips. One does not out shine the other but for boys t-rex will probably be cooler. Food the same, service about the same. Oh, awesome dessert at T-rex I believe it has the word volcano is in the name. Huge enough for 5 to share and is basically brownie or gooey cake with carmel and ice cream with a dried ice container in the center so it comes out smoking like a volcano.

Where have you been, under a rock? :lmao: They ARE both on the dining plan as of 1/1/2012.

They are owned by the same company so we've found their menus and food quality very similar. It wasn't bad, but very chain-like - TGI Fridays, Applebees comparable. We've done T-Rex, and have done Rainforest Cafe in Niagara Falls but not at WDW. For two boys, I think T-Rex is a better choice because IMO that theme caters more to boys. If there were girls, I'd say RC.

We did both, one day after the other. They are essentially the exact same restaurant (owned by the same people) but one has rainforest themes, one has dinosaurs. My kids loved them both for different reasons.

If I could only choose one, it would be TRex.

We like Rainforest, but we love T-Rex. We think the atmosphere is better and the food & service have been consistently good at T-Rex (in our experience anyway). I usually get some sort of pasta, and every dish I've tried has been tasty & filling. My son's favorites are the ribs and the guacamole burger.

The last time we ate at Rainforest was in March 2011, and the food just wasn't very good and the service was incredibly slow.

We definitely prefer T-Rex

We have done both and liked both, but I have to say that we liked T-Rex just a little bit more. T-Rex's atmosphere is amazing, our boys (6 &9) LOVED it!!!
I believe as of Jan 2012 they are both on the dining plan!

Just to verify what everyone else has said, both are on the dining plan. I called and made a reservation for our January trip this month.

I've did both during my trip and my entire group enjoyed T-Rex better (group of 10).

Have not eaten at Disney RFC but IMO I liked Trex better than my meal at RFC. I got chix flatbread and dh had fried steak both yummy both dino sized. Not sure how DDP will work in terms of what can be ordered.

We have been to both. The food is good at RFC, but better at T-REX. The atmosphere is a bit cooler too. I think they'll like T-REX.

No, I've been working. I'm sadly not one of those DSer's who can be on here 24/7 with all the up to date information.
I only found out today through you and a Disney rep that T Rex Cafe is now on the Dining Plan. Which is good news for me as well since I just booked my vacation and wanted to eat there too.

I'm not on here "24/7" either. I know this because I leave in 3 days and I need to know these things.
