**T-Rex advice please**

I tried search and I couldn't get anything to come up.

Will this restaurant be open Oct. 24?
I recall reading no reservations...we have never been to DTD...do you predict it being a long wait to be seated? We will be traveling with a 3 & 4 year old...do you think there is enough to keep them entertained while we are waiting?

I have heard 10/15 as an opening date, and the walls have mostly come down - so I expect it should be by then.

I'd go at an off time, because it may be very busy to start with (though I don't know how busy most themed restaurants get nowadays - maybe not terrible anymore?) The novelty aspect might keep it busy for a while, though.

I am guessing we will arrive at our hotel around 4:30'ish....check in and then head to DTD...that would put us there about 6:30 I bet. Great, right at dinner time (and a hungery crowd)!

If I remember I think it is supposed to open sometime around the 15th of Oct. I just wish I could remember where I saw that so I could confirm it for you. Here is the T Rex webpage if you want to look http://www.trexcafe.com/index.html

I am thinking that yes, there will be a long wait since it is so new and everyone will want to get in and see it. I also think there is going to be a Build A Dino (Like Build A Bear but with Dinos) and a big giftshop if you wanted to do any of that with the kids.

They will not be taking advance reservations for T-Rex until "sometime in 2009" according to the email repsonse I received from Landry Restaurants....so it will likely be quite a long wait, and maybe especially around "grand opening". BUT....you have all of DTD to explore instead of having to stand in line. Rainforest Cafe in DTD typically has a 2 hour wait so what most people do is put there name on the list and then wander around DTD for 60-90 minutes and then head back over to wait out the last bit. You can also go up to the desk when you come back and ask them for a new time estimate for your party...they can tell by how far down the list you are how long the wait might be. We have the Safari Card for Rainforest so this time around we will be able to bypass the long wait! I called and asked about a similiar card for TRex but was told there are no plans for it right now.....and that my Safari Card was not valid at TRex, drat!

1) Opening day is Oct-14.
2) There are no ADR's this year, and everything is walk-up.
3) Expect LONG waits the remainder of the year, lots of anticipation.
4) You could walk around DTD, but don't be late and miss being called.

Check out their website, trexcafe.com There's some info there about a gift shop to browse around in as well as some sort of activity center where you can excavate dinosaur fossils just like at Animal Kingdom. Also, I believe Rainforest Cafe has beepers that spread pretty far, perhaps T-Rex will have something similiar so you can shop at a nearby store.

Last night I was in DTD for the closing of Pleasure Island. The walls of T-Rex now have official posters listing the grand opening as 10/14. There is the Build A Dino opening next door & the Lego store is nearby. I would expect a long wait since they will not take ressies til atleast Jan '09.
