*t&j pj* ~ 4/10/11 wp/adh/uk*We're spotlighted on DisneyWeddingBlog!

If it were up to me I'd book the first flight to Vegas and pocket all the cash I'm paying for this wedding. But then my mother would never ever speak to me again! I'm in the same predicament that you are. I've learned that some decisions don't need her imput because whether we are having the big wedding for our family or not, its still our day. And to top it off, she wants us to get married in North Dakota. In the winter. You are never going to completely please you mother because as I have found with not only her but everyone else, DFTW are so over the top and most people only dream of a wedding like this! Enjoy the planning, share with her what you need to but make it all about you guys. In the end, she's going to love it regardless of the ribbon wands! ;)

I'm exactly the same! Every now and then the court house looks mightly appealing!

I take on everyone's suggestions, but then just go with what I want. You will never please everyone.

I'd also remind her that you are well within your right to change your mind every time you see something cute. That may not be what happened this time, but there's no reason if you see something new that you want, that you can't have it. It's your wedding, if you can't have it the way you want it, then why bother having it? :confused3

I agree with what everybody else is saying. It's yours and your DF's day and that's all that should matter. Whatever is going to make you happy. She will understand in the end. When I first became engaged I went through a lot of stressing about what was going to make everyone happy. I kept going back and forth about an escape vs wishes because of the same thing. I ended up crying most of those days because I'd get off the phone and be utterly confused about what would please everybody. Finally my DF sat me down and said it's our day. We will do what will make it special to us and my family will understand because they love me. Since then I'm full speed ahead. I let them know what's going on but not really asking much from them. I appreciate their advice but ultimately I have to make me happy. I'm sure your mom will be very happy for you when your magical day comes. Most parents just want their children to be happy. :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

Wow, this post totally struck a chord with me. I get how you're feeling.

I've been going through a somewhat similar tug-of-war myself. DF and I were originally planning a wedding at home but he just never seemed excited about it and I hated the idea of spending thousands of dollars on something he wasn't into. When I mentioned to him that we could get married at Disney, his eyes actually lit up. Touchdown! But now the price is totally throwing him off. It's almost twice our original wedding budget. I'm trying to get him to see the value of spending more on something we'll BOTH love than spending less on something he doesn't really want. But I'm starting to think maybe we just need to elope and then have a terrifc honeymoon.

In the end, it really is about you and him. You both need to feel good about whatever choice you make. You sure don't want to have any regrets, but you also don't want your celebration of love and commitment to be ruined by stress and negativity. I say, you do what you and DF want the most and don't let your decision be dictated by what anyone else says or does.

Love all your ideas so far. Love the colors and dress and shoes. Our reception was also in ADH and it was just the perfect place. All our guests loved it. It definately give a different feeling - and is definately not a ballroom. Our ceremony was in Epcot but we have been to weddings in the WP and it is just beautiful. Our DP was also in UK (lower).

I love your theme and as soon as I read about it I immediately thought of this.

I don't know if you want to incorporate Mickey and Minnie into your wedding but I think this is just so cute you could put it somewhere.

lpizzuro123- You are soo cute! Thanks for all the links :) We'll definitely have to incorporate some Mickey in there somewhere...possible the rehearsal dinner ;)

Thanks so much to all you ladies for your advice and aloha...it honestly helped me so much deal with the round of wedding drama :( I wish I could hug you all!!! Unfortunately I'm still on the outs with my mom ( we haven't spoke since the incident). Hopefully things will begin to get back to normal soon. I miss chit chatting with her but I guess for now it's for the better...*sigh* on the other hand i have started planning a tad more and have decided on some DIY projects i will definitely need to get started on...

-Ribbon wands (for exit)
-Bubbles (for exit)
-Slippers for my BM and FG (I was thinking of embellishing them somehow)
-I've also purchased matching dresses for my BM to wear while getting ready the day of...any ideas on how I can embellish these?
-I was also thinking of sewing bow ties for the GM...not sure how do-able this is though.
-I was also thinking of some how customizing a few hankies for the moms and grandmas...any ideas?
we're still contemplating the whole eloping thing...we found some great deals to Hawaii ;)

LESS THAN 6 MONTHS TO GO...

Sorry things still aren't better between you and your mom. :sad2:
You could try Etsy.com for embelishment ideas! I'm going to make my niece and nephew Disney shirts for our upcoming trip and will be getting some things off of etsy. Good luck, keep us updated! :goodvibes

Everything is back to "normal" with Mommy again...Just walking on eggshells until something else blows up. It is nice just to be able to talk to her again :). I've been so MIA on my PJ and planning in general. Work is crazy and I'm really trying lose some weight before wedding time. My hunnybunny and I have been working loads of OT to pay for this wedding but we are so blessed to have the means to take care of it on our own. I haven't heard from our planner since she was assigned to us. Our next step would be to plan our planning session... We both get two weeks off during the Christmas break the only problem is everything is double the cost during the holiday. We are both trying to save all of our vacation time for the actual wedding....AHHH! Decisions decisions :) ...Back to wedding planning!

It's a start at least.

DF and I are the same when it comes to vacation time, usually it gets to this time of year and DF and I take a long weekend off and just head off on our own for some R&R. This year however, we're not doing it because we're saving our vacation time and money for the wedding. Nerves are wearing thin though!! :rotfl:

Having said that though, if I could have done a planning session, I would have :confused3

I'm glad to hear you and your mom are speaking again.

For the DIY hankies, craft stores sell needlepoint kits. You could buy some plain hankies and pick out a design you like and customize them that way.

BecBennett- I totally feel you on "the nerves are wearing thin comment" I am going to try to dismiss the extra costs for the Holidays and try to think of it more as a mini vacation. I contacted our wedding planner yesterday to see if they even hold planning sessions during the holiday (we were hoping for anytime after Christmas but before the New Year) If not then the trip would be pointless and i'd have to take off from work anyways :( BOO!

I'll make sure to post tons of pics from our PS once it happens just for you ;)!

princesswendy720- Thank you so much for the suggestion! I just need to learn how to do needle point! :lmao: Hopefully it's not too difficult!

I will be starting the ribbon wands this weekend...Mainly spray painting the dowels and screwing in the eye screws, then I will be online trying to formulate a "recipe" for our DIY invites. My lovely Maid of Honor has started on our newsletter and I am also going to attempt to make my own convertible dress (this is what I wanted for my bridesmaids)...wish me luck girls! I'll keep you posted :cutie:

Hiya! Just caught up on your PJ! I love love LOVE your shoes!! The are gorgeous!! :goodvibes I keep looking at everyones shoes ad wishing I had gorgeous shoes too! But mine are flat as there's just no way I could stand in heels all day!!

Im glad to hear you and your mum are speaking again too! :thumbsup2

I cant wait to read more!!

Oh yeah, I didn't even think about the planners taking time off for Christmas... I suppose they need their holidays too

KitKat5- Thank you for following along :thumbsup2 and thanks for the shoe compliments...I knew I wanted "fun" shoes before I even knew what dress I wanted:laughing:...There are tons of cute flats nowadays though...Those are on my to-do list so that I can change into flats for the dessert party ^_^

BecBennet- I know right!!! It's been two days since I've emailed her so I'm going to have DF call and hound her for an answer. Tickets are getting pricier by the minute and I would like to book ASAP ;)

For all of you that actually read this thing...after all of the drama and hoopla my mom actually ended up doing the ribbon wands the way we wanted! YAY!!! one less thing to lug all the way to Florida!!!!
We also got ahold of our wedding planner and we've booked our PS :cool1:. Thank goodness they were able to fit us in during the Christmas break ^_^...Our PS will be on 12/30/10. i'm starting to get excited again!!! We'll also be able to spend New Years with my mom...we booked our tickets (@ $540 each O_O) Hopefully we can sneak a disney trip somewhere in there too ;)

Thanks All! My goodness! i feel time is starting to slip away from me...There is actually still so much to do...I don't know how I am going to fit the gym in...I'm starting to come up with a design for our invites... I'll post those as soon as I get it together ;)...When did you guys send your invites out? Did you send out a newsletter prior to the invites?
