Is anyone attending the Tom Joyner Family Reunion over the Labor Day weekend???

We went last year and since have bought DVC; will be at OKW during the Labor Day weekend and the week after. I understand that we can partake in part of the events; Saturday evening (Sept. 4th) at MGM event tickets are being sold thru Disney CRO. Just purchased our tickets last week for our 'adults only trip'. I understand some of the performers for that event will be Anita Baker and Alicia Keys:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

can you share more of the itinerary for this reunion? we will be at wdw over labor day (and w/out sounding mean) would like to avoid any park that is more crowded than usual...

tia!

The park admission is an extra charge (9 pm - 1 a.m.) for those attending the TJ family reunion; therefore, will not be open to the general public; just like when MK will be closed early for the Nights of Joy in September

where can I get more information about this. I will be at WDW from Sept 4 - 9th. I didn't know this was happening???? It sounds really good.

I called 1-888-TJFamily; you will be connected to the Coronodo Springs Resort (venue for family reunion); however, I didn't want to buy the package for the whole weekend (we are DVC owners) and found out that the Saturday night event (9-4-04) has been opened to others (I guess local Floridians). I forgot the number Coronodo operators gave me, but it was to Disney's Central Reservations. The tickets for the one-night event came to $66.00 with tax and I charged them over the phone.

I hope this helps

Just called Disney reservations and reserved out tickets....thank you for the information.

I called too and am I just trying to convince my sister to go to the concert so we'll see:teeth:

Do you have to buy a separate admission for MGM or is it closing early? Has anyone ever been before?

It's closing early (at least that is what they did last year). Last year, we bought the package at stayed at the Y&B Club. The packaged consisted of three days with 2-day passes + the concert at MGM. Last year, the MGM portion was sold 'ala carte' if you will.

Last year some of the attractions were open (i.e. Star Wars, Drew Carey, TOT, RnR, Muppets). In addition, they had food stations set up around the park (included with admission) and you could purchase libations at the portable bars they had set-up around the park. The concert consisted of different acts on, I believe, three different stages; we only went to one. There were acts that were entertaining for young kids as well. Last year Beyonce, LL Cool J, and Frankie Beverly and Maze, were a few of the acts.

It was a great event; the night ended with a special fireworks.

I'm glad they opened up the Saturday night portion again

Hope that helps everyone

thanks that does really help me out a great deal. I already had planned a surprise visit to WDW for my son because of the Sept codes that came out and had no idea about this event but I'm glad I found out. Maybe next year I can purchase the entire package-but it does a little pricy-the price I heard on the pretaped message was $1500/person.

anyway, I've got to see New Edition I still have a crush on Ralph after all these years...;)

The price is not 1500 pp, that is for two people (I think its 1750 for two people at the Yacht Club). We stayed at YC last year, in fact, that's where Tom Joyner and a lot of the entertainers resided.
