T-Day Cruisers 2011, November 19-26th, 2011

Would like to give a quick shout out to Ralph Lauren and Under Armour who have made packing at my house easy.... Ralph Lauren makes "tall" clothes to fit all of my family members for any occasion. Also every piece of clothing that is not Ralph Lauren is Under Armour, so you can guess we are all sports nuts and prefer to be a casual. Our DD is an equestrian so the horse logo is a bonus.

Packing for DH and DD can be a little stressful so I wanted to thank the two brands that make my life easier.

LOL

FE gifts are finished and ready to roll..

AHHHHHH!!!! We leave on Friday! :yay::woohoo::yay:
I'm so excited but I have lots to do. I had a crazy weekend. I hosted a baby shower for a dear friend and fellow Diser then had early Thanksgiving with my family followed by a birthday dinner for my BIL. Now it's time to pack!

Question: Should I pack beach towels? We got like zero beach time on our last cruise (Med) and only went to the beach at Castaway Cay on our first cruise so I'm not sure how to prep for a day at the beach. We are doing Bernard's tour in St Marteen. Is it possible that the tour will supply towels? I don't want to take up valuable luggage space if I don't have to.

Oh good news. DH managed to take off all of Friday so we will able to leave bright and early and arrive at our hotel at Cocoa beach early afternoon :thumbsup2. Anyone else staying at the Hilton? Any suggestions on where to eat dinner the night before the cruise?

Sorry for all of the questions, I'm having trouble containing my excitement :dance3:
See ya real soon!

We have always been able to pick up towels ( by calling guest services ) if we are going on a non Disney tour. Disney provided a return bin for towels close to the check in back on board.

I always leave the towels at home and use ones supplied by ship. I do not know if this has changed since our August sailing.

Wendy

Leave the beach towels...and as Lori said, half what you have packed...at home...Disney will supply all the towels you need, and plenty that you do not need.

A few other answers...

Dismeet - Deck 10 starboard - the side overlooking the cruise terminal - midship looking down upon the main stage where the sailaway party will be taking place at about 4pm, ie right after the mandatry drill...Larry and I are 6'7" and 6'8" and thus tough to miss.

Our FE's from OTC arrived, and the box is too big...gonna have to repack it all I think..

As to dinner in Cocoa Beach, there is a very good seafood place that has great food and especially powder sugar covered fritters on the road leading to the beach a couple blocks west of A1A...will have to post in Facebook to remember the name of the place, but it is the road that comes out a few blocks north of the Hampton Inn and I think there is a Walgreen's on the corner...I will post again later...I know we have several other Turkeys have eaten there before....but really worth the stop.

OK, here is our dinner recommendation..and if we can escape early enough...it depends on mason's afternoon class / test schedule, we will be going there ourselves.

Well Three bags are packed and will be on the way with my father-in-law tomorrow... Fish extenders are all done and packed, too! Yay!! I am thinking we are in good shape.

Chuck - this may sound dumb, but which side is starboard?

One more question... Anyone see the weather??? I peeked and saw rain in the forecast..:scared1: hope it is too soon to tell....

Elsie

----------Forward

Port------Midship------Starboard

----------Aft

(but in this case, it will be the side overlooking the cruise terminal)

Great! Thanks. We will probably eat there. Last time we were at Cocoa beach we ate at a Mexican joint that had a great happy hour but lousy food.

The way a CM taught me was Left has four letters and Port has four letters.......always facing forward.

Predicting the weather here in Florida is like throwing darts blindfolded, backwards...weather.com said 10% chance of rain today, so of course it is raining tonight.

Is there a way to find out in advance which dinner seating we got? We requested the early seating, but that wasn't guaranteed. I'm not going to bother to bring any "nice" dinner clothes for my kids if we got the late seating, because there is NO way they'll be coming with us!

You are unlikely to find out if you got early seating until you get to the port, but even if you got late seating, there may be a chance, albeit a fairly slim one, to switch to early by getting to Rockin Bar D or wherever is designated early in the afternoon. However, you are still likely to want "nice" clothes for the photo ops on formal/semi-formal nights even if the kids go back to the clubs while you eat in relative peace.

Chuck:cool1:

Thanks Chuck.... my husband just saw my post and your response and laughed at me... great! HA!!!

I really hope and pray for nice weather! Remember in 2009, we could only get into Castaway for half of the day because of the winds and then the fire when we pulled away... OMG! that was something!

Really want to go para-sailing this time. Fingers crossed and praying for pixie dust!!!

Thanks, Chuck. It would be nice if they could go ahead and tell you which seating you have when they send you the cruise documents. I guess I'm packing all the nice clothes just in case.

When I log into DCL, it shows on the main page of my reservation what dining I have. I log in, hit view details and then it lists what you have under dining preferences. Have you checked there?

I would love a 10 night cruise!! It's great that she still loves to dress like a princess!! princess: Last year Mason and his cousin Morgan chose to do the Pirate Experience at MK. They both loved it and they were 10 and 11 at the time!! :thumbsup2

Lisa

I love to hear that....that means there is hope she never grows out of the princess phase :)

Thanks for the offer, Michelle! We actually left right after breakfast this morning. We warned Mason--any school work that isn't completed before the cruise, will need to be done on the cruise!! :rolleyes1

Lisa

Tell Mason I will happily supervise homework time...I can even bring some extra. Jessica and her Fred from school may be spending time doing homework....bet they wish I was not in their class each week.

Look on the computer. If not call and they can tell you

So today all the Xmas lights went up. My neighbors helped and the girls went crazy with light up candy canes......Santa will easily find his way.

I began trying to find clothes to pack and sadly nothing fits. So for my dinner mates be prepared for sweats every night :rotfl:
