It was neat to watch but............I guess I didn't know it was an olympic event.

Isn't it crazy? Some of the things that end up as Olympic Sports crack me up. But it is pretty neat.

Patti! I think I would win the gold for floor mopping. I'm so talented I might be able to do it without a partner.

I think the syncronized diving is so weird. I can't get used to it, it looks so strange to me. Maybe next Olympics.

It's strange that they kept synchronized diving, but eliminated all or most of synchronized swimming. Who makes these decisions? Haven't seen s diving yet. DisMN, synchronized mopping sounds too close to curling that they had in the winter olympics

Oh my gosh, you're RIGHT!!! Lots of people do the curling up here with whole arenas built just for the sport..........and it IS just mopping isn't it? *don't let them hear me saying that though*

They got rid of synchronized swimming? That's one thing I wanted to show my daughter, who might not be a power swimmer, but likes to do all kinds of tricks in the water.

The diving was fun to watch, but I felt like every single pair was a little "off".

This sport has come a long way in such a short time.

Just a few years ago it was simply synchronized falling and the competitors wore old football helmets. It took the original inventor (Stinky O'Brien of Denver, Co) years to find someone to play along with him. He had been throwing his little brother, Boomer, off the platform and jumping after him, trying to mimic his movements.

Stinky's first WILLING partner (one Flinch Peteresen) saw the potential in this sport. Getting rid of the bikes was a big step. Petersen's parents owned a pool and adding it to the mix cinched the deal (and greatly reduced the emergency room visits) and the sport took off.

Perhaps we could come up with synchronized posting around here!

The degree of difficulty on this particular post would be astronomical, I betcha.

According to the folks on TV, it was an event in the last Olympics. We loved it! The finals of the men's round was like a soap opera though. China out because one of the divers hit the water on his back and the Americans missing their chance at what looked like a certain medal. Then Greece won the gold! Go figure?!

All that eye candy was a nice perk too. :thewave:
