After posting this, there was finally an obituary in the paper. No viewing, but it ended w/ "in lieu of flowers, donations for the children can be sent to the grandmother" w/ post office address.
I had planned on enclosing cash in the card in a separate envelope, because I don't know if they even have a bank account. I am glad I waited to see if there would be an obituary.
It was good to read that most people felt sending the money would have been OK as well, under the circumstances.
