Sword and the stone

Not all the way out, but it can be pulled out halfway. My husband and son were picked to be part of the Merlin act back in 2009, and my son got to pull the sword "out". :) They always let one adult try (and fail) to pull out the sword, then a kids gets to do it, and is able to. Fun!

Does anyone know if they still do the Merlin/Sword in the Stone thing? It was wonderful!

They don't do the show anymore. Several years ago some people reported that the sword moved when someone in their party pulled it. A CM would have to trigger it off stage, so there's no way to know if anyone is even watching. Sometimes they have a photo pass CM there. I don't know if that has anything to do with the chances of the sword lifting, but I think it's really, really, really rare.

We saw a man pull it up in January. Ever since then, my daughter is sure she can do it. It is so funny to watch her struggle with it.

Did this happen at DL? During a show or randomly?

At DL, my DS pulls and pulls multiple times a day trying to get it out. Just would like to know if it really comes out.

It raises a few inches, it does not come out. There used to be a show that they discontinued years ago. It can still be pulled but the effect needs to be triggered by a CM that you can't see, so there's no way to know if when you're pulling it if it's possibly going to happen.

My DH read somewhere that it was trigged by a garage door opener-type of thing. So a couple years ago we brought our garage door opener all the way from home to see if it worked! LOL It didn't :rotfl2:

I don't know about Disneyland, but at Disney World it's a cast member with a remote. When I last saw, it was a custodial CM with the controller -- on stage and in plain view if you know what you're looking for. But it's been a while since I've seen it.

LMAO! That's so funny. Too bad you didn't find the magic trick. But then again Disney probably thought about that or everyone would be walking around with garage door openers. I haven't seen anyone else pull the sword out since Merlin did his shows a few years ago. But I imagine it does happen. But it only comes out half way as far as I am aware.
