I was not thinking when I made my package reservation last week through Disney. We have a trip planned for mid November 2014 staying at Pop and I have paid the initial deposit only. I am really hoping for some pixie dust and that free dining will be offered next year. I thought I could upgrade the package on-line. I recently realized that I will have to call and speak to a Disney cast member to get free dining if it is offered. I will most likely be at work when the phone lines open or on my way to work. I will not be able to hold for the length of time it will probably take to get a live person on the phone.

I was thinking of using Small World Vacations. If I give them my confirmation number is there any way they can take over my reservation?

My other thought on this would be to book a new package on-line then cancel the original one. The only problem I see with that is I paid the deposit with Disney gift cards so I'm not sure how long it would take to get the refund or new cards not sure how Disney does this.

The phone lines are open from 7AM until 10PM seven days a week.

Marthasor has corrected my original misinformation. I guess you can do this.

Please do NOT throw out those gift cards. If you do cancel and then have a Travel Agency book your package, Disney can only refund the $$ to the gift cards you used. They cannot send you new ones or give you a refund any other way. When we had to cancel a package with the deposit made with Gift Cards, the funds were back on them within 3 business days.

Yes, you can transfer your reservation to a TA. Simply contact the TA of your choice (definitely recommend using a Disney Authorized Vacation Planner agency like Small World!) and let them know you would like to transfer the reservation to them and they will let you know what needs to be done - it's just a simple form. You mentioned you made the reservation last week, so I would recommend contacting the TA ASAP as the transfer must by made within 30 days of initial booking. Here are Disney's reservation transfer policies:

Reservations which are paid in full are not eligible for a transfer request.

Transfer of reservations which are not paid in full may be requested within 30 days of the initial booking.

Each requested transfer is subject to Disney's approval. The initial booking is the date a reservation number is generated by the Reservation Center, regardless of whether or not a deposit is made.

Thanks for the information. My concern with calling is in case I don't get finished by 8:00 a.m I would be at work. From what I have read on the boards this last week or so some resorts sold out their allocation of free dining rooms quickly. It's possible I misunderstood what some people were saying. I would rather call myself and would be able to do so by 5:00 p.m. the day it comes out. I did not want to chance having to upgrade to a more expensive resort.
