Switching to August..cancel VGC? book DLH? or?

i have a Villa at Grand California for june 15 for 6 nights...through dvc points..much more affordable than a hotel. I"m switching my points possible to make a points reservation at DLH?

do you think that's worth it..or pay $374 per night instead?

My thoughts are these options:
Aug 13 - Stay at Best Western across the street
Aug 14-17 check into DLH...$374 per night. or convert and use points?

i don't want to lose my points....just looking for thought. if i dont' use them they go into holding...

The Villa's are ALWAYS worth more!!! Using DVC points for the Disney Collections (DLH, PPH or even GCH) would only be ABSOLUTE LAST option for us as DVC members!! VGC is already the hardest to get reservations let alone buy direct points from ( I heard there is LONG WAIT list) so WHY... give up your reservation?

I recently did not have ENOUGH points for the LAST villa available for the Disney's 24 hour event & had to BUY one time point use (total $270) for 1 night in a 2 bedroom villa BUT well worth every penny !!! If there was nothing available THEN I would have used my points for DLH BUT would not have been as satisfied as staying in the 2 bedroom.

i don't want to change..i have to change it. work reasons...and i can't get a VGC for august at this point...i booked this one 11 months out...so i know how tough.

if i could re-rent it out..i would! probably be worth more than converting the points.

Well.... that's not good. I guess your 1st change of plans may have to do BUT re renting COULD work too. Have you tried the rent/trade thread?

My points are to precious to rent out and I've never had to cancel so not sure how you would proceed.

I would rent out the points. Then you will have some $$ for a different reservation. We rented our points for our Sept trip from Davids. I bet he could find a renter for those points right away. Worth a shot.
