Switching to another trip date--in another year

I know that if you need to, you can switch to another departure (provided there is room) because we did it for our Scotland trip last year. Is it possible to switch to a departure for NEXT summer, or would that need to be considered a cancellation (with the surrender of the deposit) and rebooking? I'm guessing the latter but wondered if anyone knows.

nope you can reschedule as long as you are not 3 months before your adventure. we were to go to Africa this summer but due to Abola we cancelled and my family rebooked with Germany for July and my parents didn't want to go so ABD rebooked them for the latest adventure they could which was iItaly in October 2015 and said we had till the end of July to reschedule them for an adventure in 2016 without losing your deposit
