Switching to a fanny pack/waist bag

I used both on our trip this past June.

Loungefly bag held compact umbrella, disposable ponchos, a hand towel and my spare battery. Waist pack was for my phone and ID/credit card, two things I would likely need to have easy access for and with it being in front, no worries about someone lifting it out of my Loungefly.

love this thread, have a new smallish Eddie bauer backpack plus a lole fanny pack and am alternating between the two on day hikes to ✔️ for comfort -will def look for loungefly when we’re there

I made the switch to a fanny pack about 15 years ago and never looked back! My husband also has worn a small one in the parks too. It's so much more comfortable than a backpack and I can leave it on while I'm on rides, which is really nice.

The brand my husband wears is Waterfly on Amazon. They have several different types and sizes.

We also wear water bottle holders that have a pocket where we put sunscreen (I don't like it right up against my body getting melty since we bring a tube of liquid as well as a solid stick.)

I use this one - Aupet Water Bottle holder
My husband has a slightly bigger one (currently unavailable but you get the idea) - Wild Wolf Water Bottle holder

I used a Brixley Crossbody bag for my recent trip. It worked great to hold small things and weighs almost nothing. You can wear it cross body or around your waist as well as a few other ways.

Great ideas on this thread!
When I go to the parks with my husband, I just take advantage of his cargo pants pockets! I put our meds (in small plastic bags) in a pocket, plus my phone, a credit card, and a small amount of cash. That's It:)
When I go by myself, such as to Universal, I use a small waist pack (saying the other name is offensive to a lot of people from other countries I guess. I use a 3 prong one which is accepted by Universal. I put my glasses, meds, phone, CC, and cash in it and it works fine. I have even taken it on many attractions while at Universal. It does fit on your side or in front, which is not a problem for me.
I believe that taking the least amount that you can is a good idea.
I do have a cross body bag but just can't get used to it for some reason?

I have an awesome backpack BUT....we go in the summer and my back is soaked by 9am usually. I don't carry a lot so I was thinking about switching to a waist bag and throwing it across my body. We're a family of 4 and my wife\daughters (HS and college aged) carry their own stuff. I am 99% certain I can comfortably fit everything in a waist bag. For me it's mostly meds, sunscreen, moleskin, phone charger. Any other serial backpack users make the switch to waist bags for the Parks?
I, too, hate the back sweat from backpacks.
a few year ago I switched to using a cross-body bag and still found it annoying as the strap would rub against my neck. Since the strap was adjustable, I moved it down to my hip and haven't gone back. I love it!
Even better when the cross-body bag has a removable strap as it's that much easier to go to the restroom. I love that I don't have to take anything off when going on a ride and all my stuff is very accessible.

My only issue is carrying my water bottle but I normally have an ECV or a friend w/ an ECV to store that.

Switched from single shoulder backpack 2 trips ago.....now I use a waist/Fanny pack!! Never been more happy about a decision. Not exactly a fashion statement, but its been so much cooler to wear and easier to get items in and out of!!!
