HI
I am planning on applying for Fall 2010 CP. I am mainly interested in being a character performer. I am a 5'9 female and realize it is a tricky size. However I have been doing theater since age 8 and have lots of experience with children. If I had merchandise or hospitality as second choices and got one of those and not entertainment. Is there anyway that during my CP I could switch into entertainment? I realize you have to audition. I was just wondering if anyone has done this

THanks

If anyone is interested on talking to me about the CP ( i have many questions) Feel free to PM me and we can aim or facebook or something

It is very rare that a CP can get a transfer, they usually only do it if you get injured to the extend that you cannot perform the role you were original hired for, (for example I was involved in a serious car wreck between being hired and starting work and had to be moved from QSR to attractions, as frequent lifting was painful.)The only other time i have heard of transfers is when a character performer fails his/ her audition. However if you decide to extend your program you can apply for a role change.

Switching into Entertainment is one of the more difficult things to do on a CP - I had several friends who all really wanted to, but were told that it's a breach of contract to go to an audition while on the CP in another role. They had to wait until the auditions for CPs who want to extend their program to have a shot at going over into entertainment. Of course there are exceptions to this rule, but as far as I know they're very rare. Sorry. :( Good luck, and feel free to PM me if you have more character-related questions!

The only time I have heard of it being done is a girl who was my height (4'10") and was approached by entertainment at check-in because our height is so in demand. If you want to be in entertainment, audition. Put other roles down so you can do the CP. If you don't get it you can do end of program auditions and then sign up to be seasonal, full time, or do another CP. That is how I got into entertainment.
